Watching this is giving me a bit of hope. TY for posting.
My mum has CRPS and my heart goes out to this guy. He's so young to have CRPS. He's smiling and that's awesome :-)
And last one (for leisurely reading purposes):
"It's All In Your Head" by Dr. Albert H. Owen III, DDS, MSD
I am also a patient of Dr. Demerjian's who uses the Oral Orthotic for RSD and TMJ. On 9/26/13, I will have had RSD for 11 years. I got my O.O. this past December and it has been life changing. It is a great tool that I use as a multi-disciplinary approach to treating my RSD. I still use my O.O. day and night as taking it out causes my migraine to return, my strength to decrease, my pain to increase, concentration levels to decrease. (more to say in my follow up comment)
I hope that you gain everything back that as list from this condition and will no longer have to suffer. I am still trying to re-evaluate my life as I cannot sit for more than an hour due to the compression of the illial Inguinal nerve in my groin. I'm a triathlete and will be floored from just an hour of sitting. It's a strange disease we have, but there are some that help and understand its complexities enough to aid in the trauma that isn't physical.
Hi, I'm Jason, the patient from the video. The mouth piece is called an Oral Orthotic or Oral Appliance
i had rsd from a blood draw it went from my arm to my whole body,by some miracle im fully recovered from rsd after 1year and month.
@Maciej WrOtEk Could be part of it. But as someone with severe chronic pain, I've experienced other various treatments that, when they work, are (temporarily) able to take away the majority of the pain, and you do feel a rush of euphoria throughout your body and mind-- this is quite simply your body, and thus brain, experiencing and responding to (via a plethora of reactions, endogenous chemicals, and otherwise) the feeling of relief after suffering in dysphoria for so long just feeling "normal" again is very euphoric. Like having lived in hell and, while not going to heaven, you come back to earth and with perspective, you might as well feel like you're in heaven-- you're going to feel great! And the opposite scenario is considered true too. It's essentially a physiological change from yin to yang.
I have CRPS in right foot/leg and also TMJ stuff, splint therapy made me feel worse, but glad to see it helped someone else. The pain and stress of CRPS can cause teeth clenching and grinding while sleeping(if you can get sleep)
You can even do a stick test first so that you don't spend any money on the provider before you know if you are a good candidate for it or not. I found out about this devise from Dr. Sims at a neuro-imaging for medical professionals conference held a few years ago. I didnt know I had TMJ at the time so I didnt try it, but this past sept I had the stick test and found that is was extremely beneficial for me. I then saved up the money to travel to CA and get the device from Dr. D. I love it!
Yes, I still receive benefit from the orthotic. Unfortunately, we're still trying to figure things out with my medical situation and those treatments haven't allowed me to fully benefit from the orthotic (because they clash). I truly miss how well I was doing when I was able to use my orthotic. Pain and migraines were relieved within 5-10 seconds; it was so simple yet extremely beneficial! I am hopeful that I can resume treating my TMJ, CRPS/RSD, chronic migraines, etc., with the orthotic soon
WOW, I am impressed I found about you through Barby Ingle from the Power of Pain, I would love to find out if others are doing this treatment or just you. I have had RSD for many years now... I was injured in 1997 as a firefighter / ski instructor. I was diagnosed in 2005 with RSD and have had 4 Spinal Cord Stimulator surgeries and still live with a pain level daily 6-9 and the evening is normally 8- 10+
To answer your question(s):
No, I am not working with this doctor to drum up his business. I don't get paid, I don't get compensated for the 400 miles I travel, and I pay him for his services.
Two, no, I am not completely oblivious. I am very much aware of what is actually going on.
Three, it has not been discredited. More and more evidence is surfacing that this treatment is in fact legitimate and beneficial for all sorts of different health issues.
Four, no, my father is not a chiropractor.

I was diagnosed with CRPS in 2012. My Immune & Nervous Systems are attacking my body. The onset was from an infected gallbladder. I was on placement with my Social Work degree and had only 7 weeks to competing my course when I got ill. My C-Reactive protein blood results hit 468. The pain started in my hands then spread to my legs. The pain was extremely intense that my heart was travelling rapidly (120 bpm). The doctors did an ECOgram of my heart to check if damage occurred. To have constant pain throughout my body is tiring. I am on pain relief medications, use my TENS machine & do light physio. I attended physio rehabilitation & that almost killed me. My C-Reactive Protein blood results show a reduction of 70. I found that my diet impacts on my Immune system that has a domino affect with my Nervous System. I cannot have sugar. I lived on sugary foods before I became unwell.
Jeannette,
I am praying for you. There are many true stories of healings in Jesus' name. I have personally witnessed and been part of them I pray you hold on to God's promises and know He is working on your behalf.
Thank you Daphne. I feel encouraged. I know that Father will heal me because I have a lot of work to do for him.
Jeannette Oliver hi I also have CRPS you mentioned something of a diet. where exactly can I find what not to eat and what not to drink? my pain is very severe right now. Thank you
I was misdiagnosed. I have rheumatoid and osteoarthritis. Lyrica capsules are good for CRP. Diet does help. Eat foods that reduce inflammation. Foods that cause pain and inflammation are, wheat, dairy, sugar, beans, green peas are some. Also, if CRP is from knee below, bandage it during the day, use a cool pack, keep leg up. CRP is neurological. So Lyrica is specific to nerve pain and it works.
Jeannette Oliver thank you very much for the information.
When the pain on my back it's severe I put an ice pack for the burning.
Is that something that you would recommend?
Hi, I'm Jason, the patient from the video. There are a few others that provide a similar type of treatment. One who I know of is Dr. Anthony Sims, from Columbia, MD. He uses a slightly different material to construct his orthotics, but I've still heard good things. It is important to point out that in order to benefit from the orthotic, one must have the TMJ Disorder. To determine if you would be a good candidate, search on UA-cam for "What is the Oral Orthotic Stick Test?" (by PainologyTV)
I don't know why you're so vehemently opposed to it...Plus, this Jason fellow said he didn't get paid for it. Unless he got paid to say he wasn't paid. COMPENSATION-CEPTION rather, COMPENCEPTION.
I am not a paid person for this project I am a regular patient that needed help, and when I got my OO the study had not begun yet. It has amazing benefits for reducing my symptoms of TMJ and RSD so I plan to continue to use it until my tmj heals and I no longer need it which can take a year or two depending on the damage that has occurred. Everyone is different so this may not work for you, but I am 100% sure it works for me &I speak out about having it because it might be beneficial for others
Barby Ingle hi I have a very. Severe crps all over my lower back and gluteus I would like to know where did you go to get the devise for pain?
J.s. Wilkes: congratulations in finding something that has given you so much relief. I suffer from neurological damage. Unofficially diagnosed with Rsd myself, I understand what you say when it is the compression of the nerve. At the very instance he mentioned the orthotic that was the first thought that popped into my head and was pleased to hear you explain it as such. I know it is so difficult to listen to assholes like mrfizzbutt or whatever, but his choice of name speaks for itself.
I have completed an independent study at the University of New Mexico in an fMRI machine to show that it does make changes in the spine and brain. I have also gone through sensory testing and strength testing that show the results are beneficial to me. Similar OO's have been around since at least the 1990's with studies to show effectiveness. (more comments in my next follow up comment)
...But first, in order to verify if someone even has the TMJ Disorder, Dr. Demerjian conducts a thorough evaluation process where an individual will have their facial muscles and ligaments assessed for tightness and range of motion, measurement pictures will be taken, an MRI and X-Ray are performed, etc. Once he receives the results from all of these tests and confirms the prognosis of TMJ Disorder, THEN he will make the determination of whether or not someone will benefit from the Oral Orthotic
hmm...is it like the mouth peice supports the jaw, chilld out the trigeminal nerve, and calms down the CRPS?
Very interesting.
what is the mouth piece called?
I’m 14 and I just got diagnosed with crps and I was in a wheelchair for 3 months until I could walk again
I understand how you can think that though, if I were on the outside looking in, it would be hard for me to believe too. However, you obtain a whole new perspective when you you're the one FEELING it and not just reading about it. Documentation does not always reflect truth. Everyone is different on how they approach their research, so in theory, it is not uncommon for research to yield discrepancies.
Nope, sorry, the tests in the video are not scams either. As I’m sure you know, the auriculotemporal nerve (branch of the mandibular nerve- the mandibular nerve also being the largest of the 3 divisions of the trigeminal nerve) runs posteriorly to the condylar head of the temporomandibular joint. When compressed, The AT Nerve can lead to significant neurologic disorders and neuro-muscular dysfunctions such as strength reduction...
My brother is 14 and has had CRPS for 6 years. My brother has had treatment here in the UK yet nothing so far has worked.
I also have vertigo.
...As shown in the video, when compressed and the oral orthotic is not in my mouth, I have reduced levels of strength and cannot resist the downward pressing motion very well. When uncompressed with the oral orthotic (and even tongue depressors), the nerve is no longer pinched and can function properly, thus renewing my strength (further indicated when my arms “bounce” back up after the downward pressing motion has ceased).
Listed after this message will be a few article titles
Call it what you'd like, the results speak for themselves.
The results of the study I am included in will be release soon... I got my OO from Dr. Demerjian, but the study is done by an independent researcher at UNM named Dr. Vince Clark. Also, I have personally met many other patients that have benefited with RSD and other Neuro conditions that have got similar results.
Additionally, you do know that the Oral Orthotic treatment is not for everyone, correct? The Oral Orthotic WILL NOT work for someone UNLESS they have the TMJ Disorder. It’s not like a Strength Bracelet where anyone can buy one. Dr. Demerjian will not treat someone with the Oral Orthotic UNLESS that person has the TMJ Disorder because, quite frankly, he can’t. The TMJ Disorder is what determines whether or not someone is even a candidate for the Oral Orthotic treatment...
The video title is: “Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS/RSD) Treatment TMJ CONNECTION.” The description states, “Dr. Demerjian demonstrates a new alternative to traditional care. He feels immediate relief from his CRPS/RSD symptoms. TMJ treatment of a custom orthotic helps with CRPS/RSD. He has been suffering from burning pain in legs, left shoulder, chest and arm. He also suffers from Migraines, headaches, neck pain, back pain, jaw pain and vertigo.” Surely you did not fail to notice this?
I, too, have pain & popping of my jaw.
What is this mouth piece? Are you still.using it

...point, we can just decide for ourselves about whether or not we want to pursue that treatment. With mrfizzlebutt, I really wanted to educate rather than be combative, but it's clear that he just isn't going to listen no matter what we say, so that's why I decided to shut the door on that conversation. It's clear that he is very selective in his reading/research too. In the very first article, it made reference to the oral orthotic/"appliance" 5 TIMES, and yet he claims he didn't see it!...
Alright mrfizzlebutt, if that is your real name. Sure it may look like he's trying to sell a product mrfizzlebutt, but answer me this mrfizzlebutt: Why would someone in that much pain lie about getting relief? If it did help him, regardless of what it is, at least it worked. They tried a lot of different things and finally something made it easier for him. This is different than the strength bracelet, mrfizzlebut, the creators admitted that was a scam. No worries, mate. No scam here. (:
Now, from this point forward, I have no desire to participate any longer in this conversation. Again, I will not show you my medical records because I am not foolish enough to do that, nor do I find it worth my while to call my doctors and go through the process of releasing my medical records just so that you can have your “proof.” I’ve proven enough and if you can’t accept the information that I’ve provided you with, then that’s your problem and not mine. I don’t understand why are you are...
...No matter though, we shouldn't let him get to us. Like you said, although difficult, it's just not worth it. Hey, btw, I added you on Google+. If you're alright with it, I'd like to trade experiences and learn more about what you've tried too. I like to connect with people and create even a larger network so that we can help other people like us who are suffering.
You know, I really don’t see any need to show you my medical records. I can post them but I don’t think that you would be satisfied. Based on your comments and accusations, it’s clear that you don’t trust me and I’m not sure that you ever would trust me unless you got to know me. I also know that a forum is not a place to get to know someone. Just out of curiosity, did you/ someone close to you ever get scammed and is that the reason why you’re posting such antagonistic viewpoints on this video?
…being so antagonistic. I have done nothing to you, Dr. Demerjian has done nothing to you, and based on one of your previous comments, YOU ACTUALLY HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE CONCERNING THIS TREATMENT. And yet, you still have the audacity to share your opinion like you know what is going on! I honestly do not know why you are being so contentious or if you are merely doing this to receive some sort of sick satisfaction. Regardless, I have no time nor do I want to waste any more time replying to such...
Let's see YOUR medical records with YOUR diagnosis. Make sure you leave IN the doctors name that diagnosed you.
Great articles. I ask you for peer reviewed studies showing me the efficacy of the treatment you propose with TMJ, CRPS, and/or RSD and you send me articles about this disorders, but nothing about this mouth piece. That would be like me suggesting eating magnets works to cure diabetes, and you asking for proof, then me sending you articles on diabetes (i.e. nothing in this literature about magnets), and saying "There's your proof!". Show me where this mouthpiece is mentioned in the lit.
Uhm, yes, that is my point Skyfire. Do you just believe what anyone tells you? Are you intentionally being foolish, because I can't tell. You do realize that people will do and say things for money, right? Michael Jordan loves Nike, right? He never put on a pair of Nike shoes before he signed the contract with them, in fact he liked Adidas and converse. Hmmm, did I just blow your mind that people will do things for money?
Why are you talking about TMJ now? The first thing you said is that you have Complex Region Pain Syndrome and Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. Show me the evidence from any peer reviewed study that shows this "Oral Orthotic" works for those things. So, let's go head and see those medical records, and let's go head and see those peer reviewed studies. I'm sure you have this since you MUST have researched this before you did it. Right? I am posting because this is a well known scam.
Uhm, money? Are you telling me that you do not think there are people in this world that would say whatever to get money? Not a single person? This kid in the video shows NO medical records, and we are supposed to assume he has what he says? Then, on top of that, the 'tests' they do are the scam you saw. Did it help you, skyfire? If you work for them, I imagine you'll say yes, if you say no then I wonder why you are on this forum and not running out to get this 'product'.
Hello, I'm Jason, the patient from the video. This device is known as an Oral Orthotic or Oral Appliance. In order to receive benefit from the orthotic, you would also need to have the TMJ Disorder. Fortunately, the Power of Pain Foundation has posted 5 videos on UA-cam that provide information about the orthotic and how you can determine if you would be a good candidate (found under PainologyTV). The title for one of the UA-cam videos is: "What is the Oral Orthotic Stick Test?"
