That you are busy is no suprise , do not think there is a better aviation artist/teacher out there.I am a fan of your methods.Glad to hear you are O.K.
Good one Darryl. Thank you for posting. Personally I'd like it all...video showing the painting and a 30 second stop motion at the end. Greedy guts eh!
There are a lot of aviation artists on UA-cam but I believe you are the BEST among them. You combine the artistic and technical facts really well such that your paintings do not look like copies of photographs yet still have all the technical details and accuracies one would expect. You have perfected the balance between the two which is RARE.
Real nice... great lines on the P-38... just started an 18 by 24 in oil... Bf 109 and Spitfire with B17 ball turret gunner blazing out of the corner... you really now how to work that acrylic paint...
Wonderful Painting, , my Father was at the base in Nadzab New Guinea where Thomas McGuire was based during the same time in WWII.... Cheers from Florida, USA....Paul
Just found your channel and enjoying your work. It's interesting how you paint over your drawing. I too paint the background and sky first but apply a cut mask over the aircraft and peel away the masking once the background is done (wet on wet) in oils and often with linseed drying oil to speed the process on the subject proper. Looking forward to seeing all that you have to offer! Cheers!!
Fabulous. But I have no idea how you managed to get the spin of the propellers looking so accurate. Its essential to get it correct or the painting will look totally wrong. Anyway it was brilliant! Well done Darryl.
A lovely and generous display of your artistry. The stop motion adds a dimension to explaining your technique. I must confess that it was difficult sometimes to follow the “what happened next” narrative through my own change blindness limitations. I was particularly interested in how you paint over then paint through the various layers of foreground and background. Another masterclass, I am disappointed that your UA-cam channel isn’t better subscribed.
