I was amazed when I first did a custom kernel in FreeBSD - it was so much easier than my experience in Linux doing the same thing Thanks for uploading!
Hi Gary! I have a question for you. I installed custom kernel, but after "freebsd-update" my server start using old kernel "GENERIC". What am i suppose to do now?
Wow this video brought back memories! I used to build custom FreeBSD kernels like 20 years ago. Mostly to remove drivers to stuff I didn't have in my system to make the kernel more efficient. Now I'm too lazy to do all that. LOL Great vídeo!!! Great work!!!

Indeed, I remember trying to do it once I had downloaded the kernel source rpm on redhat 7.1, totally borked the running system

I have the same problem
Oh this sucks. Can’t you lock specific packages in FreeBSD-update ? But I guess it’s anyway a good idea to build a new one once a new version is out

Hey Joey, how you doin! Thanks for watching and the kind words :)
Now, you also probably not see any significant difference except from it been more small and nice ;)
Can you show us how we can see which kernel modules are closed source so we can exclude them very easily?
Very good. I like Freebsd
