- Thanks to Square Enix for a copy of Final Fantasy XVI!
The 16th standalone entry in the legendary Final Fantasy series marks a darker turn for the RPG franchise, with a complex tale of revenge, power struggles and unavoidable tragedy.
Final Fantasy XVI reimagines the series' iconic summons as Eikons. These deadly creatures are housed within Dominants, men and women who inherit their immense power at birth - whether they like it or not.
Eikons are the most powerful beings in Valisthea, a land where six powerful realms have emerged thanks to the power of the Mothercrystals. The aether provided by these towering mountains of crystal powers the magicks that have allowed these nations to thrive for many years - but now a mysterious Blight threatens to disrupt their uneasy alliance.
Play as Clive Rosfield, First Shield of Rosaria and guardian of his younger brother Joshua, the Dominant of the Eikon Phoenix, in this epic action RPG from a team of Final Fantasy veterans.

Writing up a text version here since its a lot to take in all at once.
First up charge a Zantetsuken to lv 5. I typically do this through Odin blade parrys or perfect dodges. Between hitting those and doing an occasional Raging Fist you should have no issue working the enemy down to the 25% stagger remaining.
Once they're at that point, Bahamut Mega Flare lv 4 and then Raging Fist to initiate the stagger.
Swap and cast Diamond Dust for instant 1.5x multiplier, pop LB, Judgement Bolt.
Swap to Odin and release Zantetsuken, then disable LB. Throw down Lightning Rod and use Dancing Steel. LB again and your 2nd Lv5 Zantetsuken.
Swap to Bahamut and Gigaflare to bring it on home.
THANK YOU FOR THIS! Knew most of this from the tooltips from the game but there were some "hidden mechanics" that I had not quite figure out yet, that you explained perfectly! Thank you!
You can use shiva's dodge ability to freeze enemies (and their stagger bar) during a stagger combo. that freeze combined with rift slip is very powerful and can lead to 1M+ damage.
Edit: Just realized you were level 47 lol. i guess I should watch the video before commenting. the technique above is still very powerful though!
The tips on what is best for tick damage, etc is very useful too, thanks! Lastly, flames of rebirth is useful for getting the uptime back on diamond dust/megaflare to get a second one out :)
At some point I'd like to work that into the rotation but I'm so starved for ability points at the moment there was no chance.
That is crazy! Definitely gonna make the rest of my New Game Plus on FF mode for the final hunts way easier! Thanks CB that stagger damage is insane and on NG+ rocks!
just because i like it so much but i keep shiva on because i love the cold snap dodge and permafreeze ability.
Cowboy always with the game breaking builds and combos. Appreciate you cowboy
This is how I played until FF mode where the stagger bar is increased so burning off damage abilities and not getting the perfect stagger combo every time actually makes the fights faster. Also could never stand Bahamut’s feat lol. Id rather be hitting than taunting for dodges until lvl 4
This looks insane, I just got Bahamut last night. I just don't know if I could give up Phoenix for that dash man it's so nice.
This is the best in my opinion. Before NG+FF I was still doing 250k with just Gotterdamerung and not even any augement accessories. Can’t imagine what I’ll do with ultima weapon, level 100, 10% genji glove. Best stagger guide. Rest of the other videos don’t do as much damage and is too clunky, cheers.
I didn't know about the Dancing Steel + Lightning Rod, to get a double Zantetsuken so seeing this got me to take my own current setup from a max damage of ~225k to ~275k so HUGE thanks for this showcase!!
I hit a 250k combo with a different combo set up. That is what makes the combat sick. Being able to mix things up and get awesome results without feeling like you are forced to stay stuck with those skills
At lvl 47, this is incredible. Thanks for sharing this build. 5/5!
When I tackle harder content and not use the accessibility rings I'm definitely running this
Quick tip you can charge your blade like the fire charge thing during a attack or something and then just hit circle to pull out the blade and do level 5 zah after the animation is over so you don’t have to attack and then do ur
Hey Cowboy, if you have the regular attack charged before turning your weapon to Odin's blade that charge carries over which would give you a little bit of time from that very first Zantet since there is a wait there and it's such minimal damage from a Odin's blade strike.
Dude!🎉 you drop a sick stagger guide! Hell ya some of the other YT’ers drop “guides” for ff16 and they combo like 30k at lvl 40, and you hit 200k, just goes to show the quality of CB- its crazy because most of the other ff16 abilities guides on YT are all pretty trash except this one, of course it comes from cowboy! Hell ya. Your elden ring walk through were epic, looking forward to watching your ff16 and ER DLC when it drops. 🤙🤙
Thanks for this FightingCowboy. You rock!
Great video dude! a lot of really cool bits of info here.
You could also add respective ability accessories that give a percentage boost to their damage output
Absolutely. This is more proof of concept than anything
Thank you for this I just bought the game yesterday an def need some pointers
Finnaly a build guide! !
Yo ima level 50 and this will help big time. Jus beat "Last King" and im excited to do mad damage .
Is it possible to get an update with the new eikons from the DLC ? Would love to see this
Does canceling an ability like you did with zantetsuken still apply all the damage without allowing the animation to finish?
That was clean sir
This is a solid loadout for a single chunga/hunt/boss. Not so great for clearing crowds tho. Wish a second loadout option was available to quickly swap them out depending on your points of progress throughout the game. Phenomenal game nonetheless and I'm on NG atm. Also, stuck at 67/68 for the Here be Rosfields trophy and going insane trying to find the last location from my first playthrough . Have all the obelisks discovered and completed every hunt and sidequests.
Honestly I found that late game there's enough space between packs that I can alternate between gigaflare and diamond dust to take out entire packs.
That's strange, you're pretty much guaranteed to uncover most locations if you do sidequests.
@@make_some_noise I know and I'm not the only one. Reddit is riddled with the same issue!
@@darkcamo77 I'm kind of wondering what you missed. I got the trophy at the end of a quest I'd rather not spoil, but it opened up a part of the Rosaria map that was inaccessible for so long which disappointed me when I saw that there was nothing really in it.
Ah, you missed chronoliths locations more than likely.
I don’t get it…. I can’t for the life of me figure out how to get diamond dust into the square slot on Ramuh. It’s just not available. I have no issues with slotting raging fists into Bahamut.
I guess it wasn’t maxed on upgrades so all good now
This looks great have you tested the tornado instead of raging fist for the stagger?
I haven't but tbh I'm not a big fan of the tornado because you can't see shit when it's out
@@FightinCowboy that is very tru lol I just like it for following the enemy around while I charge up the beam thing with the wings and it’s the only other thing that has all full stagger points like the ice ultimate move but yea it sucks when ur in it and can’t see
Nice vid
Have you tested genji gloves with the combo damage accessory to see if they stack?
I have not
Is there any way to add to multiplier damage? And can i slow the stagger rebuild on the enemy?
Diamond Dust puts you instantly to 1.5x, Shiva's base Eikonic ability (the freeze) can slow the gauge if you have enough AP to max Judgement Bolt.
Do you need to master Odins ability? That would save you 5,000 points
Zantetsuken isnt level 5 without mastering
@@FightinCowboy ahhhhh that’s why my damage always felt low. Thanks for the reply! Keep up the good work on the videos!
HOLY CRAP! NO WAY!
I just broke 115k with my staggers at the beginning of NG+ and i thought i was doing good. 😢
I don’t understand how you’re lower level than me and don’t have 3 eikons mastered. I’m only up to main quest 64 and casually play
Because I'm using 4 different ultimates upgraded and that's expensive AF
Get rid of ramuh and put Shiva in somewhere her special is OP and stops the stagger gauge. You can abuse it to get 3 zantetsukens.
Yeah he mentioned this in the video, but said he doesn't have enough AP to swap over to Shiva because he's already got 4 ultimate abilities upgraded and working on a 5th. Trying to master more skills isn't possible for him just yet at the time this video was posted
@@davidcrawford5324 her special like I was talking about doesn't require any ap to use it's already unlocked when you get her just like everyone elses
@@douglasoakley4408 Oh ok you were talking about Cold Snap. Got it
About the complete the game and didn't realise you could swap out different eikon's abilities into another eikon..
Yep that's what mastering them does
These are all long cool down skills. I don’t know how long you leave your cool downs unused, if it’s more than 20s then not worth it because stagger only gives 50% more damage at maximum.
That's not how math works😂
Cow boe you're gonna make a lets play for Lords Of the Fallen ?
Yeha
jesus fuck and I thought my 160k combos were high...
That's insane
Dude finished the game, then makes a stagger guide. I'm done. Cant keep up
Not done yet, but I am getting close
Make sure you get the good accessories before starting NG+ cowboy. You’ll need them to upgrade.
@@Ivoryking1003thisx2 I missed one or two of the early ones and you need one from each Playthrough to combine them.
Why garuda over titan?
That’s would be an easy choice for me too, Titan is amazing and all but unless you play a passive/keep away style, it’s not great compared to others for this playstyle.
The block is kind of redundant, since raging fists acts as a counter anyways with more damage and stagger.
I like Garuda for the mid stagger pulldown. If you're fighting anything that's on the weaker side of the spectrum You can Garuda yank down immediately into diamond dust for stagger and just kill.
Gigaflare alone does almost 50K
What the fuck was that enemy its health barely moved
Infinite health on? Wouldn't want the enemy melting halfway during the combo
This
lol my bad forgot that was a thing in the settings. 😂
Ffs..I was thrilled when I got 111k 😂
Alot of people posting over millions damages.
How many of them are in NG and only lv 40 something?
@@FightinCowboy LOL exactly...those 1M+ damage combos are only being pulled off by people at or near max lvl in NG+ with Ultima weapon and best in slot fully upgraded gear and optimized accessories custom made for their build. That's like comparing your character to someone who is only an hour into the game at lvl 10 lmao
Did anyone else get bored with this game after a few hours? Only playing because I spent $70 on it. It was fun at first but quickly grew stale. Going to the capital now. Does it get better?
Ok
