Dino Dungeon Devlog #1 Unity Indie Game
Looks like no one else has mentioned here, but if you add a component to your tilemap (the CompositeCollider2D I believe) it'll fix that collider corner issue and make the tile colliders more efficient! Add it to your tilemap, and then on the tilemap collider click "used by composite" and that should do it.
The MVP is here 🙌🏾
Why does my player fall when i add this collider?
@@neenaw I'd suggest you to use Tiled, it's a free software, and you can build levels without pain.
Just about to say that
You for sure have to give each dino their own set of "powers", like blue doesnt slide on ice or swims faster in water? This will could add a lot of interesting puzzle elements
This was super insightful. Definitely continue this!
Small + Achievable mini projects are the basis of awesome skill growing, this is super cool!
This looks really cool but my one problem is that the yellow dinosaur looks like it has had some serious past trauma it hasn't recovered from.other than that I hope this goes viral.
Also give us Florida man
I love this concept! I can’t wait to see Dino dungeon in the future! Keep up the good work!
Awesome stuff bud! Looks great and so many areas you can go with this project
thanks papi 🥵
Would be cool if different dinos can do different things
I’m experimenting with it! We’ll see where it goes 👀
Really fun idea! Yeah, creating tilesets, also the one that is named ruletile in unity is hard for the first time, but everything looks great.
I really like this playstyle and the levels you showed :D
Good luck with this project! I would like to watch more and more!
And remember don't try to add 100+ mechanics, or different stuff, also if you think that your project is worse or simillar to others, don't worry! You've made this unique enough and no one is expecting AAA game.
Alos Unity 2D is better and better every year, but for 2D game I can recommend Godot engine.
Honestly I want to write a tool that generates rule tiles for me 🙄 that’s good advice, I don’t want to tack on 100 things, I just want to get it released! I may look into Godot in the future. Thanks dude.
Oh cool! Keep it up!
Thank you! Also thanks for the sub too!
@@neenaw you're welcome :D
reminds me of The Lost Vikings game for Sega Genesis
This game looks sick!!!
Thanks Taha! Your kind words are always appreciated!
neenaw I’ve just got into pixel art & I found the video so interesting!
@@KhanStopMe I saw on twitter! Super productive bus journeys! I imagine I'll be dabbling with it too in this series 👾
Dude, I'm really digging the mellow music alongside gameplay footage. It's super refreshing!!!
Looks excellent. Thank you enjoyed seeing this Very much💗💗💗
Looks very interesting! Can't wait to see where your project goes! :)
Love the concept. Definitely looking forward to these devlogs c:
Awww cool and cute puzzle dinos
Looks really cool, this character switch mechanic is very interesting and has a lot of potential.
Do you plan on making custom dinos btw? Or are the ones you showed your own?
Man Child I’m going to stick with these assets I think. I got them from arks.itch.io and the artist even retweeted the video 😬
try using the capsule collider to fix the bug were the player gets stuck on the tille map collider
This already looks pretty good. Perhaps you could add special abilities to each dino to make the gameplay even more interesting. This would also give you more option for creating puzzles. Keep up the good work!!!
In my opinion a great Idea should be local multiplayer(up to 2 or 4 players from same keyboard if possible) and depending on the numer of players a player could control up to 2-3 dinosaurs
I know it would probably cause some serious problems but it would make a very fun game to play with your friends
Love the look of this game! You've gained a subscriber!
Super cool game! Can’t wait to see how it develops :)
Cool game and nice vid. Like, subbed, and tweeted.
I love the concept! Subscribed!
The game looks awesome!
Nice devlog 👌
This is your daily dose of Recommendation
Indie game Unity
maybe i have a solution how to fix the problem that it if u jump against a wall u kinda glitch in it and then instantly out of it again ... just go to Edit --> Project Settings --> TIme and change Fixed Timestep to maybe 0.0001 or 0.0003 , just lower it to the point where it wont glitch anymore
This definitely helps, but I think there’s more to it. I wrote the physics is in Update() rather than FixedUpdate(). I read somewhere that best practice is to detect input in Update(), and manipulate physics in FixedUpdate(). I’d write an example but I’m typing on my phone 😅
You could also try using continuous physics, if there is such a thing in unity. That will take more processing power but it shouldn’t be too bad with a few dinos and boxes.
Good job man!
do you plan on making a 2d game series something simple where you show us how to do things like; how to make a rule tile , how to make a vegetation brush and how you approach turning your ideas into code and just your overall process when your first start a game idea.
arent the main character dino sprites thingies from days bygone ?
They’re from the artist arks.itch.io, where you can name your price. Other games have used these assets too.
@@neenaw I see. Thanks
Looks great! Can't wait to give it a try :)
Ami thank you! I’m gonna get to work 😤
When is dev log #2?
Working on it now 👍🏾
Wow, great video, very inspiring. How much money do you recon I need for a game development pc tower, and how much for a game development laptop.
Aaron Gandhi a game like this doesn’t take a lot of resources. Even 3D doesn’t require too much. Something like i5 CPU, with 8GB RAM, and a low end graphics card. I would say you do want to get a computer with an SSD, like 500GB or more.
An upside to developing on low end hardware is that you won’t need to do too much optimisation later in the project when that may be more difficult, since you won’t enjoy working on a laggy game and will therefore write more optimal code from the start. In theory anyway :)
leddoo that makes sense I guess
dinos eye need some adjustment
to fix the tilemap issue check this on 1:20

I fixed it in devlog 2 because everyone was telling me to 😂
Love the Dino's they stand out a lot you should find other ways to make the game stand out more or atleast that's what I would do.
What are you getting a masters in?
Computing with Digital Media
@@neenaw do you know about the Future of Quantum Ai within a Blockchain Gaming Eco-System?
Wow, Nice game. How long you make it?
The majority of it took 2 weeks of focus to get the core concept going. As you saw, I'm still finding things that I did that could have been done better, but that's just part of programming.
Ha you copied my name
Hey bro are you indian? You look like that you are
Avinash Vijay my family are from Mauritius, but my ancestry is Indian. I live in the UK.
@@neenaw that means I guessed somewhat right
You shall have more subscribers and views! You make great content! Hope that you grow fast! Continue with Devlogs!
This made me really happy and I hope your predictions come true 😅
@@neenaw I hope too! Glad that I made you happy!
this game looks great!
A very cool game, if it goes to PC and to mobile, I think many people will like it.
