One of the best performances I have heard . Usually whenever a carnatic musician and a Hindustani musician play together each style stands out too boldy . However this time I felt it was a perfect blend . Truly beautiful.
"young musicians.... with an open mind & not come encumbered with egos and baggage of their respective art forms" is the clincher here. That open mind shows how well and hard the foursome worked to blend their music to create something spectacular - soothing and melodious, without overt flourishes". I loved the understated elegance of this experiment. The mridamgam & tabla were particularly good. Young & bold should be your theme for the future too - putting brilliant musicians with an open mind together into one place for a few days always results in magic. CONGRATS
Thank you Naresh Sadasivan for your insightful comments. This is precisely why we chose to work with young artistes. We feared that older artistes would be too set in their ways and less willing to make adjustments or be more accommodating of each other. Now that we believe this experiment worked, we do hope to have more such collaborations once the current situation eases.
A real Jugalbandi, indeed , where the artists complement one another and try creating a harmonious musical experience for the audience , despite their different repertoire. Quite restrained performance by all the four musicians. The Saraswati Veena & Sarod give a perfect South-North experiences beautifully blended together. What a treat it would have been for people who were present at the live concert !
Such a soulful rendition of Abheri/Bhimpalasi ragam (one of my favorites) by both Ramana and Abhishek! Percussionists were very good also. Very enjoyable concert!
Excellent! Well done First Edition Arts and the very talented artists for this lovely collaboration. An honest effort to showcase the beauty of both schools without compromising the integrity of either tradition has produced a truly captivating performance. Hope to see more artistic innovation in spite of any unhelpful negativity.
Abheri Bhimpalasi combo enthralling! Our choicest blessings to all the 4 artistes. Ramana & Abhishek broke all the barriers & shackles, embellished the mellifluous melodious melancholic ragas
Beautiful! The performances blended very well. All the artists have adapted and played really well, also in a challenging 7-beat cycle. I think doing jugalbandis this way will actually enable each artist to truly understand the other system's music, we saw many glimpses of that in this performance. Would definitely like to hear more such performances!

Thanks FEA.. No body has tried pairing Veena with Sarod in recent times and no better option than the young artists who are always inquisitive. Reminds me of Veena Doraiswamy Iyengar with Ali Akbar Khan.
Thanks FEA fr gifting a perfect blending of musical notes emanating from instruments ceating a symphony resembling harmony of Nature itself ।keep on to make it new genre of popular stage performance ।raag Bhimpalasi assumes new dimension । Hats off to young artistes ।
Krutagnyatalu - Grateful in Telugu. Excellent effort to achieve UNION ( YOGA - to Unite/Fuse) the 2 wonders of Bhaarateeya Sangeet. As the concert unfolds the Union( NAMASTE) of the HEAD( THINKING) and HEART( FEELING) !
The A(abheri) B(bhimpalasi) of music blended so well resulting in Saatpheri(wedlock) of divine soulful rendition to soothe frayed nerves in these trying times.🙏💐🙏
Brilliant performance...! The volume is very low. I request you to kindly enhance the volume and reload. It is very low even for the Yamaha soundbar. Thanks.
Amazing sarod❤❤ it is extremely tough to produce carnatic gamaks but he easily done the feat He may be the son of lord hayagriva Beautifulness of a raag is experienced when the hindustani aalap is done
Dear First Edition Arts team, all your videos have excellent sound quality. However, the volume levels are not normalised. Can you please check on this?
Shelly Frape apologies for the imbalance. Unfortunately this time there was a technical error with the multi-track. So we had to work with the mixed 2-track recording provided to us by the sound engineer.
There are no frets on this instrument, so it cannot be played like a typical fretted instrument. Furthermore the fingerboard is a metal surface behind which the instrument is hollow and thus adds to its unique resonance and sound. If he were to play it with the skin of his fingers, the sound would be dampened or muted. Nails being a hard texture bring out the clarity of the sound and the accuracy of the notes. We hope this answers your question.
Arijit Bose, not for a while. The Covid 19 lockdown has immensely slowed down the process of editing and uploading our videos. The concert featuring Waseembhai happened after the Cusp Festival. And there’s still a large backlog of videos from this festival to upload first before we get to Waseembhai’s videos.
very interesting question sir. I am not technically well equipped on the raga nuances, but if the two ragas are indeed different, it seems that Ramana is rendering 'more' of KD and 'less ' of Abheri....

For jugalbandhi selecting artists also matters….here such a perfect selection . Both r outstanding.

Fruitful jugalbandi from young maestros. 🙏🙏🏽

VAAH! Beautiful, thank you all so much.

Most Indian programs have sound quality issues for a long time.
Beautiful !
very nice Electric Veena....i like the acoustic Sarod as well...
Amazing sarod❤❤ it is extremely tough to produce carnatic gamaks but he easily done the feat
He may be the son of lord hayagriva
Beautifulness of a raag is experienced when the hindustani aalap is done
Simply excellent!!!
Most Indian programs have sound system issues for a long time. Good musicians deserve good sound engineers.
Your "experiment" truly worked! Great work. Devinaji.
Thank you Ramprasad Iyer. We’re glad you liked it.
Wender full 🙏💐
Dear First Edition Arts team, all your videos have excellent sound quality. However, the volume levels are not normalised. Can you please check on this?
The sarod was low in comparison with the others. Unusual as First Edition Arts usually get it spot on.
നന്ദി
Too good …
Excellent! Thank you - (except the sarod sound level was a little low - unusual as you normally get your sound balance spot on).
Shelly Frape apologies for the imbalance. Unfortunately this time there was a technical error with the multi-track. So we had to work with the mixed 2-track recording provided to us by the sound engineer.
@@FirstEditionArtsChannel Thanks. I knew there had to be a good reason! (I worked in theatre sound so know the difficulties at times.)
Amazing ✌🏽
Really awesome !
Please, do you know where I can buy an album with Ramana Balachandran ?
Why does the Sarod player have long nails on his left hand? Does this help with his playing?

Second half 20 minutes is the best.
Brilliant
Jugalbandhi in its true sense.
When can we expect to see the release of the concert with Waseem bhai?

@@FirstEditionArtsChannel Thanks for the reply. We wait with anticipation. Your videos are so well produced, its worth the wait.
Is Ramana playing Abheri or Karnataka Devagandhari?
very interesting question sir. I am not technically well equipped on the raga nuances, but if the two ragas are indeed different, it seems that Ramana is rendering 'more' of KD and 'less ' of Abheri....

Not interesting at all. Please be serious and discipline while performing classical without any adulteration.
