Mastering Quilt Finishing: 3 Amazing Quilts and a Secret Technique

  • I have been working towards finishing more quilts. I actually finished 3 quilts this last week and I want to share them with my friends. I left them in different stages in the original tutorial videos and I thought you all might like the closure of seeing the completed projects. The first 2 I used traditional binding. On the third quilt, which is the horse panel quilt that I backed with fleece, I used the backing for the binding by folding it over to the front of the quilt.
Enjoy a trunk show or sorts along with a surprise or two within my quilt show at home.

Wonderful job of explaining the instructions, of how to bind our quilt's.
    The word "binding"
    is so terrifying.
    But, your explanation is perfect.
That makes "that word" less intimidating.😮
    😬🥺😑🙄😔😉😁😆😂

April, I sew my binding on the front and turn to the back. Then sew it from the back. I think looks better. As on the front stitching isn’t on the binding. Blends in with the front quilting. Love your programs. Thank you for sharing.

A couple of months ago, one of the Walmarts near me had all the Pioneer Woman fabric on clearance, like ridiculous clearance. 3 yd packs $3.00, fat quarter bundles $1.50, 1 yd pieces $1.00, rotary cutter $1.00, ribbon $.75, scissors $.75. I don’t really like most of the fabric but it was so cheap I couldn’t resist. I use a lot of it for practice. A couple of the prints I’ll use for “real” things. It’s weird but I’ve been to 3 or 4 other WMs and it’s all still full price.

Definitely enjoyed this video!! I have a couple of table runners to put binding on .... I've been chicken to do it, but now will give it a try using the monofilament thread. Thanks!

Roll your binding around a toilet Paper roll that's cut in half. You can cut a slit to hold your end. Then on my machine it fits under my sewing table top and I put a table foot in the roll to hold everything

Can’t wait to try your binding secret. I normally sew my binding with a zigzag or decorative stitch, even then sometimes it is crooked on the back. You make such beautiful quilts.

On the third quilt, I was curious to see what will happen with the corner where the self binding was cut. If it was cotton, it would fray. Glad to know it was fleece on the back of the quilt-fleece does not fray.

Those faint stains that are left add character to the quilt. So glad to see some of your finished quilts. I'm going to try some chenille-it. Thanks for the video 😊 💕

Love doing binding like you do. I've tried several methods and that is the one I use all the time now. Makes the binding process not quite so scary. LOVE that horse quilt.
