5:30 yellow card #14 blue, then a second yellow card #14 blue for arguing (curious if the referee had signaled for substitution before. That would determine if the team plays will 11 or 10).

12:57 red card #24 blue for taunting the opponent bench. Referee demonstrated crying hand gesture player used. Taunting is a direct red card in high school.
At 5:30, the second caution, the referee pointed for the player to leave the field. This is the same mechanic he used all game. Would this be the "signaling for a substitution" you mention?
I admit that I am unfamiliar with NFHS's finer rules, but for a substitute to he considered a player, doesn't the number procedure have to to take place? ie. Player leave the field and substitute comes on?
@@grumpyref I don't think the team played short so I believe it was after the signal for substitution.
For high school the player becomes a substituted player as soon as the referee signals for the substitution to occur (versus IFAB once the player leave the field of play)

Rosales, the red card was for TAUNTING. A player can't get a direct red card for celebrating. A player could receive a second yellow for taking off their shirt. This player got a direct red for taunting, not celebrating.
I understand but putting his hands behind his ears is a celebration a lot of players are doing, even pros.

@@RosalesFilmsshs is not pro level yet. It is written in stone on nhhs rules taunting for red card vs ifab where it is not even mentioned. Be a knowledgeable expectator ,not just a blindfolded fan.
@@RosalesFilmss NFHS has a much lower bar than IFAB, and thus a stronger punishment. But if a celebration is directed towards an opponent it can be punished with a direct red card as taunting. Hope this helps!
@@RosalesFilmss the assistant refere looked to me to make the crying hand gesture. Either way as others have said this is taunting and there is zero tolerance at the high school level.

A couple soft yellows but overall i think this ref did a great job. This game could have easily gotten out of hand with the kids and the coaches, but center ref seemed to have it all under control. Well done on the communication between AR and center ref to give out the red card at the end. Taunting is amateur and deserves to be punished with a red. I don't think that kid will do it again.
