@Drafty01 Hi, thank you very much for your comment. mageba Lasto®LRBs are designed and tested to withstand several earthquakes. The use of lead with 99.9 % purity, and high quality rubber ensures that the performance of the isolators will be optimum even after being subjected to several earthquakes. The LRB are designed to withstand the maximum seismic condition of the project, in terms of force and displacement, which are usually earthquakes with high magnitude (> 7).
Some questions:
What happen with the high frecuency energy from the earthquake? Rubber only damps low-medium frecuencies...
What happen when the deflection is higher than expected in radial direction and brings down the dampers?
What happen when temperature under structure increases up to 60ºC? This is common and rubber suffers a big damage under this range of temperature for ages
The rubber dampers have shelf-life a very much shorter that building structures. So, what happen when the build is 20 years old and a earthquake comes?
What happen when the differential stabilization under the building try to lean or incline the structure? How can a vertical damper stop a catastrophic horizontal displacement?
It looks marvelous, because this very simple test can support anything... but not the damper.

Si miras la estructura del aislador, es muy fácil cambiarlo, los tornillos se quitan y listo. La estructura es muy simple y barata, dos placas de acero y una masa de goma. Puede cambiarlos mucho antes de que se agote su vida útil. De hecho, funciona como los neumáticos de tu auto, cambias los neumáticos antes de que se vuelvan peligrosos. PLOP!

How many earthquakes of its rated performance would this system endure before failure. I'm from New Zealand, (also known as the Shaky Isles). In Christchurch, there are 3-4 magnitude 3 - 4 every day, with magnitude 5 & sometimes 6 every few months.
