I would recommend getting wire cables with bucklers so you can run them between the frames it will help getting rid of the wobbles I used 3/16 cable on my and it makes it very sturdy you will be making x's with the cables between your frames.

Thank you. Adding the tin took almost all of it out but we may look into adding that too.

Oh my gosh, what a GREAT and thorough video. I'm only researching a double carport, instead of a garage that I would love to have, but I couldn't stop watching until I found out how it turned. Kudos, Kelley.

My son had to put 4x4 posts and concreted them in the ground . Now it won’t sway . And it even went through a hurricane up in north Florida this year .

That is great. When we added that back tin it really helped it doesn't sway much now.

Woke up. Said I wanted one. Called the same day and ordered it. 18x36x12 and they came 8 days later and put it up. Whole process took 9 days start to finish. I got my site ready during the week I waited.

That’s great. We just built a garage it went quick. I guess it was because of Covid it took so long.

Mine is 18W X 41L X 13H. I enclosed the sides & used tarps to cover the ends so my
coach sits in the dark to protect it from oxidation & tire cracking. For what we have
to pay for these Rvs if you own one you should spend the extra $$ for a shelter it will
extend the looks & life of your Rv letting you get more use out of it. Even if you have
to find a place to store in indoors. It will be worth it. IF you go to the same general
area mostly, store it there & save the fuel it takes to drive from your home.
    !

We’re about to have an rv cover installed. I have had a hard time finding out if the size would be correct for our rig. This description was perfect!

That is so awesome, I would like to have one of those aventualy ,I use a rv cover. One thing I would do is put some concrete footings and bolt them down, I wouldn't trust those 2 foot rebar in the ground with high winds in your are. Glad you guys finally got it completed.

Glad you enjoyed. I’ve been really impressed how well it stayed down. We don’t normally have a lot of High winds but we did that one day and they were clocked around 50 miles an hour and we didn’t have a problem hopefully it stays that way lol. The added tim really helped sturdy it up.

Agree with concrete anchors at all 4 corners and I’d add mobile home anchors between at each pole. Think of it as a giant sail. Your wind rating would increase to over 100 mph. The back side closing in helps a lot to mitigate sway.
It took me 8 months to get mine installed back in 2020-2021!

After researching different ideas regarding an RV carport, I've decided to build a timber frame, pole barn. These metal tube, fabricated structures seem a bit too flimsy.

    • @BillandKelleyAdventures
      @BillandKelleyAdventures  Рік тому +1

I agree they aren't the best just wood is so expensive now days. We just built a pole barn garage. The guy said the prices have doubled over the last few years.

Great video. Appreciate all of the details you included. We had a carport built. Very similar sizes. We include some extra panels for the sides (1 and 2) but left both ends open. Our first spring we got a ton of pollen and tree debris on our RV roof. Decided we need to close the back gable end with 2 panels hopefully to stop the wind tunnel effect we have. We ordered and waited 3 months. Instead of installing they only offered a drop only service. Nothing cut to fit. Do you have pictures or video of the framing work they did to add panels to your gable end? Thank you.

What size is the cover? Width. Height. Leg height? Plus what did u do on the ground for gravel or base? Plus did they say to add the end bracing to make it less wobbly? Looks great! I would love to be able to have it as a drive thru. Can’t wait for mine to be done. Any suggestions is appreciated. Thank u.

We used milling for our base which is ground up asphalt. The back brace did help the swaying but it was good without it. 18x40 with 14’ legs I wish we had done 18x44 the 40 just barely covers it.

It is anchored with 24" stakes. It's been great since we added the back panela. it's made it through 40mph winds no problem.

@@BillandKelleyAdventures could be that he had a bad install team. I'm gonna find out what State that ones in; it could be soil issue. But I'd think the install would adjust accordingly. We're in MI. And this particular area of the State gets wicked winds moving from lower Lake MI, through to Lake Huron. I'm glad that you guys are having success with yours though. Thanks for sharing.👍

I'm watching your video again, and still in the process. We were going with one company, but ended up changing to a different company. Now I'm just finishing up the pad that I'm doing with crushed asphalt over crushed concrete. The rv carport will be installed in a couple of weeks. I'll do a video and show you. How's your rv carport holding up?
