    It's never too late; People have graduated from college in their 90s! You are dead on the money about "artificial timelines" - these timelines have been "impressed" on us by convention and habit. If you want to stay young, do things you've never done before; learn a language, start playing the piano, pickup a paintbrush and become an artist and so on. In the 1950s, there was the "man in the gray flannel suit" - working at the same job for 50 years and retiring. I always thought that mindset was too depressing to contemplate, but those jobs are long gone anyway, so better to follow your own spirit.
