- Plot Synopsis: Aspiring Country Artist Patsy Cline (Jessica Lange) is resigned to both her thankless gigs and her unhappy marriage, until she meets the charismatic Charlie Dick (Ed Harris). Eventually leaving her husband to be with Charlie, Patsy temporarily shelves her singing career to be a mother. Later, she returns to singing and finds success under manager Randy Hughes (David Clennon). Patsy hits a remarkable stride with a string of hit singles, and has become a full fledged star, when tragedy strikes.

Fun fact, my father was dancing at Rainbow Road in the movie And he’s shown up front and center. I saw Ed Harris… I was 6 and had no idea who he was.

Never particularly cared for country music, but I appreciate great artistry and Patsy had a voice that absolutely came from heaven above. Kudos also to Willie Nelson's writing and Jessica Lange's performance in the film.

when i was in the corps,19 yrs old i and two friends walked by the straw hat ,a bar ,a gay bar and a man was singing this .he had the best clearest voice and i wanted to hear him sing. but , they would not let me stay. i still remember

Even though this film tried to make Patsy look bad with her cussing , smoking and drinking , her voice conquered it .
Patsy was not a sick , drunken sounding hippie hack like Janis Joplin .

I headd meryl streep was suppose to take this role but Jessica lange got it
April Ngametua The director had sat down with Streep and basically told her (harshly) that she wasn’t suppose to play Cline. And that, Lange had already got the part before she asked.

The only thing that dissapointed me in the movie is that the Loretta Lynn episode didn't show up.
Crazy for Loving you must been her old man favorite song because I know he thought he was crazy for loving her because all she was where's a good singer and she had a good voice that's all she was
Nobody, sings this song like her.
I think Lange bungled this role. I think Beverly D'Angelo handled it much better in Coal Miner's Daughter, plus she did her own singing.
Largely fictional movie.And the plane crash in the end was based on Carol Lombard's crash, somewhat.

They should've just casted Beverly D'Angelo who played Patsy in Coal Miner's Daughter.
