It always kills me that people forget the most important factor about this video. This was the first video by a black artist ever on MTV. It opened the door for every other black artist to showcase their videos on MTV which was the most popular and influential music video show in history. This video broke the barrier. I know a lot of younger people today don't get the weight of that but from the 80's - 2000's, music videos were the premiere way we got to see artists. We didn't have the internet to instantly see someone or something. We had to wait for these shows to come on tv and show the music videos. But that made them that much more special to gather around with friends and family to watch them.
Agreed, if you were not there you wouldnwouldn'tt understand. UA-cam cant capture the impact or context. Also, most music videos were not this well produced with story and dancing and were mostly just bands or individuals singing with green screen or some backdrop.
@@StMichael7 Billie Jean was January 2, 1983 , Thriller was November 5, 1983 The "Billie Jean" music video, directed by Steve Barron, was the first video by a black artist to be aired in heavy rotation on MTV
It's just entertainment. He was a greart entertainer along with being a gifted singer. I didn't folow him but he was everywhere. I respect the fame he earned. Nothing fake about his talent.
Michael made his professional debut at the age of 6, in 1964, with his elder brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, and Marlon as a member of their singing group The Jackson 5 then when they quit michael went on becoming a big star
They were actually signed up to another record company - steeltown records - before being introduced to berry gordy and suzanne de passe from motown, and then history began
Besides Daniel Cloud Campos who know all the moves of MJ and is also a breakdance and hip hop dance world elite. And back in the early days MJ copied the moves and the clothing style of Michael Chambers (aka Boogaloo Shrimp). In a pure dance battle in mid 80s to 90s Boogaloo Shrimp would have won versus MJ and that easily. MJ was the best allrounder (singer, dancer, entertainer) ever, he never was the best dancer ever.
Michael Jackson was the best, and always will be the best also smooth, criminal song from him when he did his first movie moonwalk that’s was awesome and amazing Happy new years everybody out there.
Amazing, stunning. Drums intro made by the master (R.I.P) Ndugu Leon Chancler, who performed with Santana band back in the 70`s. This was a monster big hit song, and the entire 1982 "Thriller" album as well, and today, makes the people get on the floor and start to dance. A timeless song, coming from a this truly genius from american Rythm and Blues, Soul music, formerly a member of The Jacksons band, with his brothers. To much material to check as well. Cheers, sweet heart, take care.
This video is the 25th Motown anniversary with his brothers singing songs from when they were the young band, called the Jackson 5 and at the end, his brothers leave, the stage and he does the live version of Billie Jean, one of the best live performances you’ll ever see in your life !!
The story is that Billie Jean is a girl claiming that Michael is the father of her child and Michael denies that. So they get into a lawful problem with each other. If you remember the lyrics 'For 40 days and for 40 nights law was on her side'. At the video you can see a person that looks like a private investigator or reporter. He's following Michael in order to take pictures of him, mostly with Billie Jean, to prove that they are in fact lovers. Then a newspaper appears, saying 'Billie Jean Scandal' and of course, the press never lets scandals fade away, that's why that photographer or reporter follows Michael. As for the floor that glows when Michael walks, I personally believe that that is related to the fact that in the song's story Michael was being talked around, followed and accused. Everything he would do, someone would be there watching. So the glowing steps symbolise the fact that he was being always spied and watched. The song and the video are related, just think deeply about it.
Irina if you have never seen it I think you would enjoy both Thriller and Smooth Criminal by MJ videos. Lots of dancing and choreography you might enjoy.
I think what you were referring to were photo, or film, negatives. Used to use those to make multiple photos, or overlap and splice them together for different effects.
Different from many modern pop artists, MJ used some of the best musicians while writing and recording his albums. For example, Eddie Van Halen, Steve Lukather & most of the band Toto, Paul McCartney, and David Foster to mention a few, played and/or wrote music for this album (Thriller).
his videos are the best watch thriller unbelievable it was most expensive video made at the time spent millions on it fantastic there will never be another Michael Jackson so many good songs and the videos no one dune what he did

Michael Jackson had many video games for the Arcade and Old Consoles at the time and also appeared as a guest character in Ready rumble 2 and he was reference in Plants Vs Zombies as a dancing zombie but later changed due at the time the game was finished Michael had died.
"Billie Jean is not my lover She's just a girl who claims that I am the one But the kid is not my son". Search "Yo no me llamo Javier" from "Toreros Muertos", in lyrics is similar.
I have never seen this video before. The original video had the legendary "Moon Walk" if I am remembering correctly, or was that just done in the concerts? The man could out move anyone!
the roll of film from the camera when you first take it out is undeveloped . then you go through the developing process with chemical bath. I know the chemicals used but you can't have lights on unless they are special dim red lights that wont damage it. the developed film is called a negative. some photographers could probably explain it better. expensive and alot of work.
You might be referring to splicing frames or also overlapping frames for effect - today we often do that both in audio and video and call it mixing. Back then, motion photography would mainly be edited (often extra footage would be shot and then would be cut together during editing - then the final would be spliced together, and a final copy made).
smooth criminal , stranger in moscow , dirty diana, remember the time , black or white , u rock my world , who is it , earth song , heal the world ,....
Only Elvis and the Beatles had a bigger impact on Pop music than Michael Jackson. I wasn't alive for the first two but as a young child who knew nothing about music, I knew who Michael Jackson was.
misheard lyrics: as a child, I always thought he was saying "people always told me, Big Jaffa was a Jew". I am English, so maybe I didn't get the nuanced American accent.
Irina the video predates you back when the music came first then the video later. MJ’s videos were an art form. As far as what you described I think you simply mean FILM itself as a medium. Like the original video things were analogue in those days. No digital recording or internet and few people had computers as they were very expensive. A lot has changed since then except talent and beauty are timeless. Nobody knew back then a Russian ballerina would entertain many at their home or work. Спасибо большое.
I don’t believe she really knew what the video is about that’s why she kept saying kitty cat 😂 The video was about him getting constantly harassed by the paparazzi not about cats 😂
Might be easier to get a better understanding (less confusing for u) if u paused the video less & focused on longer clips of the video before making comments of “I don’t understand what’s going on” every 20 seconds. Just a suggestion. 😂

Billy Jean and was a lady in the 1970s she was a very successful tennis player and Michael did have a liking for her like many men did back then

Can't think of anyone else today that was as amazing as him dancing and singing and his type of style
True, he cannot be imitated.
