you bought happy hour a while ago and have it shelved as want to read on goodreads, you should consider reading it! its so so good just happy pretty girls in new york doing pretty girl shit and it really put me in a perfect summer mood and lowkey made me joyful for 2 days straight, but also explores friendship, class(like in money and stuff idk english) and more. it also contains no explicit scenes which u mentioned in the romance book vid that u dont seek out which i relate to and it was a definite plus for me.

I love domestic/literary fiction where it’s light on plot, heavy on vibes. My favorite book of all time is “The Elegance of the Hedgehog” by Muriel Barbery. Sounds like something you might enjoy.

I have also been distracted, but I’m reading Hollow Kingdom by Kira Jane Buxton. It focuses on a zombie apocalypse, and the narrator is Shit Turd, a talking crow. As a comedic horror novel, it has been refreshing.

It is so surreal for me that you are reading Gabriel García Marquez because he is from my country Colombia. I haven't read that book but others from him, it's fun!!! My mom tells me that when i do read it, i should do like a family tree for the characters because there are many people with the same name and it's kinda confusing so yeah. was going thru the same issue as you, starting books being like omg this is great then putting it down and leaving it to collect dust. i went to the library and perused the nonfiction section which was weird because im a sci fi or lit fic kinda gal and now i have 7 books to read haha

If you want a book with chaotic, unlikeable characters, A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole is the one for you.
Based on this description 7:55-8:45 of what you love to read, I’d say give The Interview With The Vampire by Anne Rice a shot. There’s definitely a lot of vibes there (1700’s Louisiana to start and believe it or not it only gets wilder from there) and *definitely* freakazoid, wack characters that are acting crazy and treating each other like absolute shit. And even though at first it kinda just seems like kinky vampire warm garbage, the more you get into it, the more Anne starts to deep dive into more complex things like discussions about morality and love with some actually surprisingly beautiful writing. And the interpersonal relationships between the main characters??? Some of the most disturbing, messed up, sweet, passionate, batshit crazy, confusing dynamics I’ve read. Plus, gay! which we love. Tbh though I didn’t even really like the first time I read it (I think this is probably because certain things disturbed me so much that when I was finished with it I didn’t give myself any time to think about it, I just wanted it off my shelf and out of my head nOW), but AMC recently came out with a TV series adaptation of it-which is actually really good? And that I would actually recommend? -and which made me really come back to some of the writing with a new appreciation for it. Anyway, you might also hate it idk but for some reason this was the book that immediately came to my mind during your description.

I’m Colombian (as well as García Márquez) and we have to read One Hundred Years of Solitude in like eight grade. It is a really difficult book to read in Spanish, I’ve never read it in English, but I wish you luck with that one.
