- Dib gives up on the paranormal to study 'real science' like his father. Though at first Zim is happy to be rid of his arch nemesis, he quickly loses his drive to conquer Earth and does nothing but lie on the couch watching TV all day. Meanwhile, Dib excels in 'real science', and refuses to go back to hunting Zim, who has become pudgy and depressed in his absence. In the end, Gir-tired of Zim hogging the couch-begs for Dib to 'please hunt [my] master again!' After a talk with his father, Dib realizes that 'real science' is not for him and returns to pursue Zim once more. Ironically, the two enemies are overjoyed to be fighting each other again.

At first i thought GIR was sad about zim then when i heard “i miss you couch” i literally sobbed of laughter

What if the reason Zim and Dib say they hate each other is so that they can constantly hang out with someone who takes them seriously 😳🤯
They are the only ones that take each other seriously. Zim had all the chanses to take over earth while dib sat this one out but then came the feels of not having a little playmate around. They sure do act like kids(even tho Zim isnt one himself)
I think he stayed on earth long enough that it’s rubbing off on him. Can’t imagine what his reaction will be if he did learn the truth about his mission being fake and a set up to get rid of him.
Now THATS an episode I want to see.

My new favorite episode. If these two don’t act like friends, they’re acting like fking brothers in this episode. Zim outright admits that Dib’s presence in his life makes him extremely happy, and it’s genuinely the most adorable thing that’s ever come out of his mouth. They may claim to be mortal enemies, but I think we all know they’re the closest thing the other has to a best friend

13:01 was my favourite part, the way they are playfully insulting eachother without actually trying to hurt eachother's feelings is adorable, Zim never once mentioned Dib's head in this 😂💜
my headcanon is that zim really is just a human, and the whole show is just the two of them playing human vs alien.

honestly? if this was actually completed, i think this could've been a rly nice final episode.
It's like a cute send-off for the show. no major threat, no intense shock humor or gross out, just a cute, simple, and somewhat heartwarming plot as the finale

I honestly don't understand how Jhonen expects me to believe Zim and Dib totally and 100% hate each other when this episode was supposed to be a thing, seems like a relatively recent retcon to me.

I don't believe this episode contradicts the fact that they hate each other, I feel like people don't understand that not all strong feelings are automatically positive? They hate each other to the point of needing the other, and sure they can get along sometimes but that doesn't make them friends, just like some friends can fight once in a while and it doesn't make them enemies.
They absolutely hate each other, but it's more like a Batman and Joker situation, though more accurate comparison would be Tom and Jerry since they actually do hate each other. Tom and Jerry are usually fighting but soon as something happens to one of them, the other tries to keep the status quo since they're so used to it and depend on it. Same thing goes for Zim and Dib here.

This sort of thing always surprises me no matter what I’m watching. I guess calling someone by such a literal name is for comedic value but it does feel weird for a character to seemingly not know another’s name even though they should.

I really like how this episode shows the bond between zim and dib like they are somewhat friends in a sense.
(They are still enemies/rivals, and I don't think it'll go any further than semi-friends/frenemies to be honest)
P.S, I really like the interactions between Gir and Dib for some reason, I think it's really fun to see how those two interact since they're both my favorite characters (mostly dib tho)
This should've been the series finale instead of the Christmas episode.

To my understanding Emily from Soapy Waffles was hired at Nickelodeon. And I'm assuming Nickelodeon nicely asked her to not finish it. That's totally speculation and I have no evidence but it seems logical.

@@InvaderZIMLostAndFound I worked as the sound effects editor on this (I cringe listening to the sound mix because I can do a LOT better now) and am part of SW's private Facebook production group. I can only say that if that were the case, it's never been brought up there, which is why I'd say the real reason is rather simple. We were all teenagers when starting this, now we're all adults with little to no free time to devote to a variable mammoth of a project as this anymore. Many, namely Emily, have gone on to do bigger, better things, so it's really no mystery.
I wish this was a real episode. ;-;
