So basically everything in that Russian Auchan „under sanctions” is 10-30% cheaper than in my local Auchan in Poland. Excluding the Aperol and probably Western hard liquor, however including Western beers. Thanks for telling the world. Media in Europe don’t want us to know this.

Now compare average salary. It is way higher in Poland than 10-30% more. That affects everything. A simple check shows me that a Polish truck driver earns 3x more than a Russian one. This means that a Polish truck driver can feed his family better several times over.

The central idea here is that the stores are changing to local sources of goods and services and not international ones since the russian stores here don´t have access to international banking/currency because of the situation with the ruble. If they do have access to international currency to pay international suppliers it is at a premium so customers would have to order themselves to fix the currency problem (but at a premium like the stores) and the stores are then used as delivery hubs..So russians would have to carry the extra cost of buying international goods..This is a hyper market and inflation in russia also make prices higher..

However, for Russia, one needs the above data to judge the real impact of wages to living expenses.

Why do all foreigners like to compare salaries in the West with salaries in Russia? It is necessary to compare the availability of services after paying all taxes! In Russia, free medicine and education, cheap and efficient public transport, serious maternity capital at the birth of children, kindergartens where they pay only for food and each child has a personal bed where children are necessarily put to sleep for a couple of hours during the day, all other expenses are borne by the state! In Russia, taxes are very low, the prices of goods in stores are final and you will not pay anything extra at the checkout, In cafes and restaurants you are not obliged to pay tips because waiters get paid! Russian russians wash themselves under running water without paying attention to the meter (it's very cheap), cheap gas, the presence of central water heating (Russians in cold winters wear shorts and T-shirts in their warm apartments). In Russia there is a very powerful Internet, in cities in cafes and restaurants there is free Wi-Fi to attract visitors, very powerful mobile coverage that is inexpensive, a cheap taxi in which when ordering you will immediately be told the price and this taxi will arrive very quickly! A huge number of parks, theaters, stadiums, clubs for children's development...I'm already tired of typing because I can't list everything here that is in Russia and how cheap and accessible it is to everyone!

Many were expropriated in Russia or forced to sell to Russian entrepreneurs, who are now running them on their own, but there are still no sanctions, except for payment transactions, military or electronic parts and components. The German retail chain METRO, for example, has not stopped trading with Russia for a single day; all western-made goods are offered there and paid for in rubles.
