I agree to the song gives me chills, I'm 66 years old and when I was in my early twenties, 2021 I saw drag Queen do this song and just fell in love with it you could have pushed me over with the feather. It made me think of my 1st love and how to this day no one No man could ever make me feel the way that he did. I will always love him.🌹💋💔🙊😿😥
Some songs were just written for Cher and this tops the list. Believe it or not, one of the first versions of the English translation of this song was recorded by Ronnie James Dio.
Why I adore Cher’s more exotic and flamboyant outfits, she just looks sublime in this dress and her hairstyle is so simple yet elegant. Truly stunning….
Cher may have had bigger sellers, but she really knocks this one out of the park with the way she brings it home. She was never better .... and that little nod she gives at 2:33 clinches it. An amazing talent!
She was the female version of Elvis. Her smooth, relaxed, confident, playful style...along wth her sex appeal. What else could you want from a top-notch entertainer? I met Cher at her home here in Los Angeles way back in the mid-1980's when she was at the top of her game. I was just some lowly installer who was lucky enough to work on her house (house?). Anyway, she was SO gracious and SO nice...SO polite. And what a SMILE! I've met nice celebrities and not-so-nice celebrities. Cher was right up there at the top.
An amazing story. Cher is the ultimate. This performance brings tears. As a early teen she and this show meant so much. I saw her in concert in 72 as well.
Thank you, your comment is very important, especially, for her fans who discovered Cher just recently, like me. I mean, I've heard about her and heard some songs, not knowing who the singer was, and I'm astonished how rich and unique her voice is and how talented she is. I'm gonna burst into tears, I missed so much!
I grew up in the 60s and 70s with Engelbert , Streisand and all the rest , I saw both Sinatra and Elvis in concert and I wouldn't have wanted to be from any other generation if you paid me a trillion dollars.
I think the exact same thing. It was first a French song by Francoise Hardy and when it came out by Cher I went nuts. I thought it should have been number one on any chart. A fabulous song, superb production right up there with Phil Spector's best. An overlooked classic.
Another Cher gem, almost a semi-opera love song. No Bono here. Live performance. So deep and gut wrenching lyrics. In truth, she should have made this one into an up tempo disco cut for 78-79. Still possible in 2023. Just a great universal message. Memorable since 1972. Thanks, Cher. Vive les retro and disco freaks ....
On this date in 1972 {Jan. 29th} "The Way Of Love" entered Billboard's Top 100 chart; eventually it would peak at No. 7 and stay for a total of 13 weeks in the Top 100!!!
I was 7 or 8 when I saw Cher on The Sonny & Cher show and I remember thinking I wanted to be just like her someday. She was unique. Wonder what she would have looked like today if she never had all that 'work' done.

even though i was very young when i watched thix show on tv what a wonderful song and I think Cher was undeniably stunningly beautiful teeth and all How could you not fall in love with her
I loved her natural teeth. My first girlfriend had the same teeth. I was an extended duties dental assistant when I was a teenager for three years, so I always notice people's teeth and how they take care of them ... or how they don't take care of them. I don't know what it is about teeth that are inclined in the way Cher's natural teeth were before she messed them up with all that Hollywood "You-gotta-look-like-everyone-else-in-Hollywood, babe." crap. When I first moved to Los Angeles in 1983, I interviewed with several dental offices, and one of the ones I interviewed at was a dentist to the stars in Beverly Hills. This guy was Russian and he was married to a Chinese lady who had her hair and makeup salon in the same office, so they could do full makeovers for actors. Anyway, they were excited to interview me because it was almost unheard of for men to be dental assistants back in those days. I ended up choosing not to take the job because they told me that they did want to hire me, but that I would have to get dental work done on my perfectly good teeth because I have what is called a diastema which is a gap between the teeth. In my case, my diastema is between my two front top teeth. I was born with it. It's mine! It defines my look! Not only that, but they wanted me to get a full makeover as part of the "SELL" which I just couldn't swallow. So, I said no thanks and walked out the door. This is funny, too, because I moved to L.A. to chase an acting career. Hahaha! I certainly was not going to change my looks just to look "Hollywood". Plus, I have always preferred to audition and play character roles, not lead Ken Doll rolls. Anyway, not long after that, I was hit head-on by a drunk driver while I was riding my motorcycle home late one night and that ended my acting career for many, many years. I eventually ended up getting all kinds of work behind the scenes as special effects makeup guy doing mostly low-budget horror films. Then I landed a sweet job at Walt Disney Imagineering as a model builder and sculptor in the Dimensional Design Department where I worked for five years, then I was laid-off with 1,200 other folks and I was back out on my own again freelancing mostly as a movie and theme park sculptor and a prop maker. I can tell you this, Hollywood, i.e. the entertainment industry is insane but it's literally one of the most creative industries I have ever worked in my entire life. I loved being on huge sound stages sculpting custom props for big, blockbuster films. My body is too broken these days to be able to do that kind of work anymore, but it was fun while it lasted. Have you noticed the "you" she's singing this to is either another female or a gay man? "What will you do when he sets you free? Just the way that you said goodbye to me". Men don't set other men free unless they're gay, so she must be singing this to a female.
@@bronxboy47 I think that when she sings “as he sets you free” she’s singing to herself in third person. The “he” is the person she’s singing about and the “you” is herself

highly underrated in the american music industry... HUGE song. one of her best
But French song...

Great song and she looked so beautiful here.
This beautiful song never gets old....and neither does Cher.

I have always liked Cher.
One of the most beautiful classy songs of the 70s. Incredible production. It doesn't get enough airplay even though it was a big hit in 1972.
Yes, it never did get the attention it so deserved.
Every time I hear this, it gives me the chills.

Cher was a Frontrunner in the entertainment industry.

I love that flower in her hair she looks beautiful.
Her clothes on this series!!! Bob Mackie was a genius.
