Thank you. This set of cards is quiet, calming and speaks of thoughtfulness. The first sympathy cards I tried to make didn't convey that feeling and now I can see why. My stash is all bright and cheery so I ordered something quieter (your paper was sold out) after watching this video. Again, thank you for showing me how to make better sympathy cards.
Thank you Ms. Kristie and yes not a subject we like, but I think you channeled your crafty energy my way. Yesterday I was at a scrapbook fundraiser for Toronto Sick Kids Hospital and my theme for the day was Sympathy Cards, I figured being at a happy event would help me deal with the heavy subject and using various sketches made making the cards easier. Unfortunately a good portion of what I was making was a donation to the hospital. As a group though we raised almost $9,000. Sympathy cards are always hard to make but the end result is always so appreciated.
Helen Whitehead That is amazing you helped raise so much money. Thank you so much for your generosity. Someone else here mentioned making cards for Toronto Sick Kids Hospital. I have the sweetest crafty friends. 🥰 As hard as sympathy cards are to make, I agree they are very needed. Sending big crafty hugs to you! 💖
Thank you so much for making these. My first husband (the father of our 4 kids) passed away when we were young and our kids were tiny. I can assure you every card we received was appreciated more than I can express. Every card from high end store bought to dollar store bought to classmate made (my oldest was grade 2) lifted us up and encouraged us. I am sure the handmade cards touched me most. That was in 1994. I am not sharing my story for sympathy but rather to lift you up. I think many cardmakers struggle with Sympathy cards. I just want to encourage the card making community and say that, in my experience, a Sympathy card means so much not only in the moment but long after as well. The fact that someone took the time to make it means even more.
Barb P Thank you so much for sharing your story. I can’t even imagine the struggles you went through losing you husband so young. I haven’t had a need to send off very many sympathy cards, but I make sure it’s priority when I do. I know I would appreciate the cards. It was easier to make the cards when they weren’t actually needed. Big hugs to you! 🌸
@@KristieMarcotte Thank you. You do raise a great point about it being easier when the card is not needed. We cardmakers should make some to keep in our stash. You have certainly inspired me to do just that. Hugs!
Barb P I’m so very sorry for your loss, sweetie. What a horrible thing you and your kids have to endure. Yes this video came at just the right time for me!
@@LilCraftyNook Thank you for your kind words! Isn't it wonderful that someone like Kristie shares with us all and inspires us? This gives each of us a voice to encourage and inspire one another!
Barb P my aunt lost my uncle when she had 3 small children (my mom was still in high school when her brother died.) It can be so tough to deal with that so young. Bless you for sharing your story.
I love this video! My husband passed away suddenly 2 weeks ago, I am going to use this video as inspiration for “Thank You” cards to send to those that have offered love and support to our family. I like this collection because it’s not as “flashy” as the cards I would normally make, yet, it is still beautiful!
Natalie Taylor Hello Natalie, I have only just seen the video and read that your husband had passed away just 2 weeks earlier. 4 months on I hope the pain is easing and that you are receiving strength from the love of those around you.
Thank you for sharing. I always struggle with how to express my sympathy for someone else's pain. I think what makes your videos stand out (besides your amazing talent) is the care you put into every detail of them. The music adds to the background to remind us that not everything we create is going to be lighthearted, but instead is meant to try to help heal someone else's heart. I love the sending you strength sentiment and card with the rounded edges. It's what I always hope to be able to convey. I look forward to your next video.
Deborah Wildman Thank you! This was a difficult set of cards to make, but I know how important sympathy cards are. I’ve made a few here and there over the years. Mostly when I actually needed one. It is a bit easier to make a sympathy card when you don’t need it. When I started adding music, I knew the usual bubbly style was not right. So I searched for some new songs to fit the theme. 🌸
Very pretty cards. It really was a good idea to devote one paper pad to this theme. These are cards that unfortunately we need to have in our stash. Thank you for sharing. 😊🤗
cynthia tuczynski Thank you so much! Sympathy cards are a bit easier to make when you don’t actually need them. Now hopefully they will sit in my card drawer for a very long time.
This was a perfect paper pad for sympathy cards with the muted colors and flowers. At this age we seem to have too many friends and acquaintances that we have lost. Thank you for producing this video with your usual grace. The first card really caught my attention because it was simple but elegant with a touching sentiment. I also liked the card made with scalloped border dies. Everything (patterned paper colors) meshed together for a beautiful card with the perfect sentiment.
TAS Thank you so much! We do seem to have more of a need for sympathy cards as we get older. Still not my favorite card theme to make. It is a bit easier when you don’t actually need the cards though. 🌸
A beautiful collection of sympathy cards. The colours are muted enough without being too somber. It’s nice to have a little colour. I liked the OWH #56 best, with the mint green stripes and checks. Thank you for sharing. 🌹Rosie of Oz🇦🇺
@@KristieMarcotte One of the things that really impressed me was how you had your card layouts drawn out on index cards. I'm thinking having those on cards would be a good way to figure out what layout might work with what you have in mind to create. Having them in a file would be a quick way to see what would "work" and save a lot of time figuring out, or trying to remember what you did before. I'll be watching this again to get the awesome layouts that you did. For some reason, what few sympathy cards I've made I've always felt led to add at least 1 small butterfly some place on either outside, or inside of the card.
Sharon Peterson I actually just print out the sketches on regular printer paper and cut the sheet in half. Then I file the sketches in an expandable file folder, sorted by websites. Nothing fancy, but it works for me. I also keep the sketches in folders on my computer. Then I can see several on the screen at the same time. Makes it easier when I’m selecting sketches. 🙂

Hi Kristie I always enjoy your videos when I can watch. I am so glad you used this paper collection. My Echo Park Club kit for January is the Home Again Paper collection and and I am so tickled I now have an idea how to use the 6 x 6 paper pad. I also have the 12 X 12 papers and lots of things to embellish with. My favorite is the one towards the end with Those we love sentiment. I don't have the border die but maybe I can find one on Cricut Design space. Thanks again for sharing! Hugs & Love from SC Carol
Crafty Carolina Gal Thank you so much! The EP club kit looks amazing. So many goodies that coordinate with each collection. I’m not sure I could handle using the same collection that long though since it includes the 12 x12 papers also. Happy crafting! 💖
LOVED the music with these. And thank you for doing sympathy cards with patterned paper, it can be hard to know how to pair the tragedy of loss with card making other than one layer cards. Lovely lovely set.
Very pretty cards. I have a hard time with sympathy cards--I often end up buying them instead. I can imagine you're ready for some bright and cheerful doodlebug papers next. TFS!
Jennifer Reece Thank you! Yes, cheerful doodlebug papers sound perfect right now. As soon as I catch up on a few videos, I’m digging into my older DB paper pads. 🌸
Kristie, what a labor of love! I will admit to watching this twice. The first time I fell asleep since I didn't sleep last night so that is not he fault of your video. I loved your stamp sets! Perfect for sympathy messages. Even though I have this collection I never thought about using it for sympathy cards but the patterns did yield to a more subdued theme. I think my favorite of all was the scalloped layered card! Stunning! You may have done that before but it's the first time I've seen it. Once again and very inspiring video!
Cathy Barwick Thank you so much! I think the more relaxed music might have also aided in putting you to sleep. No worries though, my video will still be there if you need to watch it a third time. 😉 When I bought this paper collection, I didn’t really have a plan for it. Then I received several requests for sympathy cards. I looked at it again and knew it was perfect. This is the first time I’ve used Pretty Pink Posh’s scalloped edges die. I’ve used their hexagon edge die in a similar way though. It’s a great die set. 🌸
Thank you for making these. I picked up a couple 6x6 pads at Joann’s and am going to channel my inner Kristie. Also had to order the MFT set you used. You give us so much inspiration. Thank you!
ANDREA JACOBSEN Thank you so much! I was happy to see the MFT stamp set is still available. It’s a great sympathy sentiment set. Happy crafting to you with your new 6x6 paper pads! 💖
What a lovely use of this collection. I think it’s much easier to make them in advance. If I make sympathy cards on an as needed they take forever and aren’t as prompt as I prefer. 😕TFS💙💙💙
Thank you for doing sympathy cards! I have had 5 deaths amongst my family and friends this year. 😌 Each family had grown children, and I wanted to send cards to each of them. I made a batch of 6 with one card design. But I definitely needed some fresh ideas and designs. Thank you so much, Kristie. 💜
Lisa Shireman Oh goodness. It has been a tough year for you. I’m sorry to hear of your losses. Big hugs to you! 🌸 I’m glad I could provide some other designs for you, but I hope you won’t need anymore sympathy cards this year. 💗
Beautiful set of cards, Kristie. Also well done on the music selection. It was perfect for the theme of the cards. I do hope you don't need them too soon. The paper pad is sold out (I'm too slow)currently, however, I am going to try these sketches with a paper pad I already own. I always admire your beautiful cards. Thanks, as always, for the inspiration. :)
Jeanne Tomshack Thank you so much! I figured the bubbly music I generally use wouldn’t be right for this set of cards. I hope I won’t be needing them either. The world is a bit scary right now. 🙁 Bummer the paper has sold out. It was released last year, but I hadn’t used it yet.
Thank you so much. You are incredibly good at creating so many cards from one paperpad. Love watching your videos, allthough I'm not a cardmaker with paperpads.
That was heavy to watch, too. Thank you for doing this. They are the worst cards to have to make and send and you, my friend, just made it a bit easier to create them. Kind of a downer coffee date, but this is reality.
Beverly Stotz It was a hard set of cards to make. But so important when they are needed. Having a bunch of sympathy cards on hand will definitely come in handy at some point. My mom likes to use my cards and she’s had a need for quite a few sympathy cards over the years. Our next coffee date will be much happier. 💖
As always, your cards are so beautiful, in spite of the subject matter. I so appreciated the muted tones and that a number of them were neutral enough for either gender. I've struggled making sympathy cards so I've just bought mine over the years, but now I have some inspiration to make some of my own. I've struggled finding sympathy sentiments, and now know where to purchase a set or two. Thank you for all of your hard work into making this video.
Aundria B. Thank you so much! My mom likes to use my cards and I’ve had to supply more sympathy cards to her over the years. When I decided to dedicate an entire paper pad to sympathy cards, I knew this collection was perfect. 🙂
Well done. These are not usually my style of card making but I liked watching your thought process and the neatness and precision with how you made up the cards. I might try some of these with the softer colours you used tfs
What a beautiful collection of cards! I hope it takes you a VERY long time to use them all. As I was watching you make them, I wondered if it was difficult/sad to make so many sympathy cards at one time. It was interesting to hear you say how draining it was. Maybe you should do a Doodlebug 6 x 6 next. :) I really enjoyed the music.
sashabelle728 Thank you so much! I’ve made a few sympathy cards at one time before. But never a whole paper pad. I didn’t think it would affect me as much as it did. I actually let everything just sit on my desk about 2/3 of the way through the paper pad because I had zero inspiration to continue. But I’m glad I came back to it later. A Doodlebug 6x6 sounds perfect right now. 💖
You always do such a wonderful job with your cards, and these are no exception! I agree with you, that sympathy cards are the most difficult. Your selection of paper for these is just right. (Any chance you could slow the video down to normal speed the next time you change your AGT tape, so we can see how you do it? That thing always gives me fits!)
Julie Gauchay Thank you so much! I really think this paper collection was perfect for sympathy cards, even if that isn’t what Carta Bella had intended. How about if I record a quick video showing how to change the ATG tape? I’ve had others ask. I think after changing it probably a thousand times, I could do it in my sleep. Lol!
I love to watch your videos! I ordered one of the kits from P&M that you made and can’t wait to make the cards. Where do you buy your card stock - you always seem to have the perfect matching card stock for your cards? Your cards are awesome! Thank you for sharing your talents.
Lisa Squier Thank you so much! I buy most of my cardstock from Joann’s when it goes on sale. Pink & Main’s kits use a lot of Bazzill cardstock, so it’s easy to find the same colors at Joann’s. Have fun with the kit! 💖
Kristie Marcotte Kristie, Ive been checking out some of the websites for sketches and notice they don’t include the measurements. Do you create your own measurement for the cards you make?
Lisa Squier Sorry for the delay. Life has been crazy lately. Yes, I figure out measurements for the sketches if they aren’t already included. I share them on my blog and Pinterest boards. 🙂
Kristie, I have been enjoying watching your videos during the quarantine and have been making cards for local charities. My question is how come I never end up with little scraps like you. Is there a trick to cutting the paper? Do you have a step by step video on some basic cutting instructions, maybe for the most used sketches? Any help would be appreciated.
Margaret M I select card sketches and designs based on what paper scraps are leftover. This really helps me utilize as much paper as possible. I don’t currently have a step by step video. But I’m hoping to find the time to work on one soon.
Absolutely beautiful and you make it look so easy. How do you determine which sheets to pair up so that you have matching sheets all the way to the end?
Sally Galewski Thank you so much! I never really know what papers will be leftover toward the end. If I feel I don’t have the right coordinating patterns, I’ll bring in more solid cardstock for those final cards. 🙂
Crafty Clutter Thank you so much! I love Carta Bella’s papers as well. 🙂 I don’t sell my cards, so I don’t know what their angel policy is. You can probably find it on their website though.
Simpathy cards are needed but difficult. We all want to make the holiday cards and the birthday cards because they are cheery and fun. Sometimes you just have to buckle down and make simpathy and get well soon cards.
I love your cards and the background music...it was so relaxing to watch....this video is one of the best I have watched in a very long time. Do you by chance have any sketches that I can print off or download to use for my future creations. I would love to be able to create some of these amazing designs
Shaka Williams Thank you so much! Even though it was a tough set of cards to make, I’m so glad I did. I hope I won’t need the cards anytime soon. 🌸 I share all of the sketches on my blog and a few Pinterest boards. You are always welcome to print them. I also share the sketch sites on my blog if you want to check those out as well. (Links are listed in the description box)
Hello I love your videos I was wondering what brand of circle dies you prefer? I have so many just wondering the best sizes or your most used sizes tfs hugs
Passion4crafting Thank you so much! I’ve used my Spellbinders circle dies for many many years and still love them. I have the large and small sets so I can easily add a matted layer. ( I have links for the dies in the description box) Not sure what my most used sizes are. I just select a size based on the image or sentiment I am using. 🙂
Thank you for the beautiful cards in this video. I am always in need of Sympathy cards and this is a good way to keep many on hand. I also give card packs away as birthday gifts so to add these to the pack would be great. just wondering where you buy your solid color cardstock. I loved the colors. Hard to find nice colors and decent quality.
Thank you so much! It's always good to have sympathy cards on hand. I find it harder to make them when I actually need one. I purchase most of my colored cardstock from Joann's. I stock up when the individual 12x12 sheets are on sale. They carry Bazzill, Coredinations and Darcie brands.
Hi Kristie, You mentioned that it took about 4 hours excluding planning and prep time. Would you be willing to share your planning and prep thoughts and process, as that's where I sorely am lacking. I can create beautiful cards, but they take forever and ever and leave me with a massive mess. I know there are better ways and that's what I'm looking for...The way. Thanks so much! And I really like your end result cards. Sadly this time around so many sympathy cards makes my heart break with Covid-19 and more.
Carol Franklin Hello. I find the card sketches online from several websites. I share the sketches on my coordinating blog post. (Link is in the description box.) 🙂
Hello Ann! I don't believe I have ever used all of the same sketches for 2 different paper pads. I use sketches for inspiration, but I'm always looking for new sketches to try. I also like to use a variety of different background dies. 🙂
I truly hope you won't need to use any of them too. I made 4 or 5 a while ago. I kept finding that I couldn't find any mojo so I was buying cards. Then someone asked me, in a very oblique way, why I hadn't bothered to make them a sympathy card. My big problem is with greetings stamps. I'm not religous so I find there are often only one or two in a set that I would use. I'm thinking of have a couple made as I think, of all cards, these need to be true to yourself.
Anne-Marie Stevenson Thank you! I was actually struggling with mojo while making this set of cards. I had to just walk away several times. But I’m so happy I finished them. I have several religious sentiment sets, but decided to stick with non-religious sentiments for this set of cards. I think it’s a great idea to have some custom stamps made, especially if you haven’t found just the right sentiments. 🙂
Anne-Marie Stevenson Hello Anne-Marie. Sorry for your losses. Can I suggest something that I do for many different types of sentiments, also the inserts for cards. If you have a computer you could type up the words you want to say and choose the best font style and size to reflect the sentiment. Save them on your computer then just print them off to use when you make the sympathy card or to have ready to add to an appropriate card when the need arises
Ah the pink magical scissors…we’ve missed you old friend!
I miss them as well. The new scissors aren't the same.
Beautiful card, beautiful paper.

Lovely cards ❤️. TFS
The Heartfelt Condolences card with the green papers and the gold dots is stunning. Like you said, sympathy cards are tough to make. Well done!
laurel singer Thank you so much! 🌸
Wow! Great job! I just happened upon this video in my feed, but I’m a subscriber now!
Laura Ruscetti Aw, thank you so much and welcome to my channel. I appreciate your support. 😊
A lovely set of cards we all distress over making...
Heather Upton Thank you! 🙂
Thank you so much. You are incredibly good at creating so many cards from one paperpad. Love watching your videos, allthough I'm not a cardmaker with paperpads.
Carmen Vogels-Aagaard Thank you for your kindness. 😊
Beautiful paper pad. The music was very soothing thank you. Lovely cards🥰💕
Enchantedbycraft Solae Thank you so much! I tried to find music that fit with the theme, but was still soothing. 🙂
Lovely collection. Your combinations work well for this type of card.
Kay Forder Thank you! 😊
Great collection to have on hand just in case...thank you as always for sharing!
Julia Laird Thank you! I just hope I won’t need to use the cards anytime soon. 🌸
That's sweet music for a sympathy card video.
mawmawvee Thank you. I made sure to search for appropriate music for the card theme.
Well done. These are not usually my style of card making but I liked watching your thought process and the neatness and precision with how you made up the cards. I might try some of these with the softer colours you used tfs
Ruth Portway Thank you so much! 😊
You are so amazing and such a relaxing pleasure to watch, wonderful cards!
Amber Myer Aw, thank you! I appreciate your kindness. 😊
great cards Kristie..I love when your done making cards and show them that they are all so precise... wish I could get my layers look so perfect...
Debbie Evans Thank you so much! My crafty OCD helps me get the layers straight. Lol!
Lovely, they are needed.
Carmen Chiapa Thank you!
Thank you for doing this set of cards.
Deborah Carr Thank you for watching. I know it wasn’t exactly an uplifting video. 🌸
Thank you so much. I like to look your videos. You are great
Tatjana St Thank you! 😊
Seems as I need more of these lately as well. Beautiful per usual.
Mari Pahl Thank you! We all seem to need more sympathy cards as we get older. So very hard. 🌸
So lovely 🥰👍😇🌷
Mary Lou Rosado Thank you! 😊
Kristie Marcotte I’m glad you came back to it too. Thank you for all the extra effort this video cost you.
Lol!
@@KristieMarcotte that would be awesome! I'd really appreciate that!
Stunning set of cards 😻 I love the papers and your layouts ❤ thanks for sharing your creativity Hugs have a fantastic weekend
Joan Orloff. DK Thank you so much! 🌸
This is one style card I don't make. You've given me a standard to follow for the future.
Sympathy cards are never my favorite to make, but they are needed. 🌸
Wow so many cards! I have trouble making one.
Pauline King Thanks! I like to finish off a paper pad completely before moving onto the next one. 🙂
Beautiful, my favorite was the one made with the stacking dies.
Susan McKee Thank you! I’m really enjoying Pretty Pink Posh’s edge dies lately. 😊
Thank you. Unfortunately, I will also be using many of these cards. Lovely job. They looked great.
Jan Lorman Thank you! It’s so hard when we actually have a need for sympathy cards.
I love this, thank you!! What perfect sentiments.
Jessica Houdart Thank you so much! 😊
Always beautiful, thank you for sharing.
Tina Rehs Thank you! 😊
Kristie Marcotte Thank you for the quick reply. I’ve got some shopping to do!!
Beautiful cards! I love Carta Bella Paper, do you know what their angel policy is?
Crafty Clutter Thank you so much! I love Carta Bella’s papers as well. 🙂 I don’t sell my cards, so I don’t know what their angel policy is. You can probably find it on their website though.
Lovely cards. At my age I unfortunately need more sympathy cards.
Maria Serpa-Gauvin Thank you! It’s always hard when you have a need for a sympathy card. 🌸
BTW, love to see the small circles making a comeback...
Heather Upton It has been a long time, hasn’t it. 😊
Thank you. At my age I'll be making more of these type of cards for friends.
sapphiremanga My mom has requested quite a few sympathy cards from me over the last few years. So hard.
Awesome!
What was the blueish cardstock you used on some of the cards?
Maria Tomlin I do try to list the cardstock colors/brands on my blog. I believe the bluish color was Caspian by Coredinations.
I have tried several times to order the love from lizi sticker strips and it won't let me place the order. Do you know the secret?
Where did you get your design patterns?
Carol Franklin Hello. I find the card sketches online from several websites. I share the sketches on my coordinating blog post. (Link is in the description box.) 🙂
I went to your blog post.....do you alWays use the same 6x6 tutorial and just change up the papers
Hello Ann! I don't believe I have ever used all of the same sketches for 2 different paper pads. I use sketches for inspiration, but I'm always looking for new sketches to try. I also like to use a variety of different background dies. 🙂
💖🌹
Debra Shaw 😊💖
These are the saddest style of cards to make. The outside sentiment is the easy part but the inside one is the hardest!
Roxanne Tucker I agree. At least sympathy cards are a bit easier when you don’t actually need them.
Why
Where do we get access to the card charts?
I always share the card sketches on my coordinating blog post. The link is in the description box.
