Losing is the best way to learn. And having it filmed so you can break things down after is invaluable . You learn some basics, you go in for some sparring and half of them (if you are lucky) go right out the window because it isn't muscle memory yet . But now you know WHY you have to sit down on those basics and practice them over and over and over again .
He used a Jeff Chan escaping kick on that one punch, and it was really good. That stood out as being very clean, but really amazing performance bro, you did great. Mike, if I'm ever in the States, I want to train under you so badly. Thanks for keeping it real.
A month ago I took part in my first ever technical sparring Muay Thai match. I lost by split decision, but man, I had a good time, and I LEARNED A Lot. And Cardio is king😅
Typycally when you throw straight kicks you need to defend the center line. Fighters usually throw a cross straight down the pipe to counter/retaliate.
first fight - shame it was not full contact, he wobbled the dude twice and still lost (I am not really savvy when it comes to these rules, I fight bare knuckle and it would secure a win for me 100%), second fight nice distance control with teeps, circling around the opponent even though it would be better if you circled behind his lead hand, but it worked anyways, so good job. I would recommend circling behind the opponent's "front jab hand" at all times as the opponent was getting lost as soon as you were hitting from behind this hand. Third fight first round good in and out Soviet style, good distance management, very good head movement in the second round, the progress is quite noticeable. Mike is a great coach, sorry for my bad English, not a native speaker. Still enjoy the content, thanks ❤
I remember buying my first mouthguard, I was so confused when the instructions on it demanded that I heat it up on a stove. I could definitely have seen myself making a mistake like molding it to the bottom teeth that as a beginner. fun times.
My initial comments from the 1st fight was going to be imorove footwork and covering distance. Was goin o suggest more windevoy style workouts. Then by 3rd fight you were much improved at thar skills. Great job young man. I would still suggest more wonderboy drills.
I would have loved to do some of these semi contact fights. In my area we just had ammy mma and I didn't have time to take it seriously enough for the risk. For those of you who don't know, ammy mma doesn't usually allow elbows but otherwise it's basically pro mma you don't get paid for
This isn't a real loss. This is a bullshit rule set. Your dude was rocking this guy while holding back, they are saying you cant hit hard lmao If you wanna play a game play a game, your boy would of killed this dude in a real fight. That aint kickboxing, this is Olympics ferryfoot nonsense.
I was going to join up and go through the ranks and do all that but my Sensei was a stand-up guy and pulled me aside after the first session, in his own words. Tell me I didn't need a second one. He didn't say it like that but what he did say was something I had always suspected . He said my fighting style was utterly amd completeyly indefensible.
In my books he was bad teacher. He just told you are not good enough to learn from him and that means he isn't going to teach you even if you are stubborn enough to tag along.

You molded your mouth guard in upside down??
That’s the first time I’ve ever seen that 😂
you've done it before haven't you ? lol

Takes a very special guy to do something like that.
That laugh at "I know a little bit of Aikido" got me chuckling a lot more than it should have. Actually, I regret nothing.
On his first day he looked me right in my eye and with a straight face told me he trained Aikido.
@@hard2hurt Did you at least TRY not to laugh in his face? I would've failed, but I have almost no poker face, haha.

Real talk, respect to Eric for getting out there multiple times in the span of a few months.
He's a really hard worker.

6:32 Mike's tone of almost giddy disbelief in his "You listened!" is something every trainer will feel sooo hard! :-D
I said teep. He teeped. It worked! It's amazing how that happens.

Great video. Great message. Great effort. Look at mikes little proud face.

this is very valuable for anyone who wants to learn. great job!
Icy Mike is such a fun personality but his lack of posting means he’s crushing it running his gym. I miss the old vids but congrats coach.
I took some time off. I'm back at it.
@ oh hell ya
You're a very good coach Mike!

Nicely done. It's awesome to see work pay off! Keep it up
Thank you!

In all fairness he looked better than a guy with just a little bit of akkido.
Well, he was trained by the best... so that makes sense.

They are a good way to get some reps in without the risk.
Good job guys!
Thank you!
I've fought with someone else's cup too, it happens lol
This was the shorts lol... already used.
Congrats on the win! But what is the background music LMAO
Hope I don't get copyright claimed!
Good job
I'd hate to get kicked by the guy once, let alone after every single inner exchange.
The minimum acceptable number of kicks is 50.
Great video
Thanks.
@10:30 is dope! cross hook kick was $
Yeah he does a lot of cool stuff intuitively.

Cool!
Am I the only one that feels like he won that first fight?
