It has nothing to do with Social Class but it's not always a good idea to have a relationship with someone who works with you or for you. I have no issue with dating a Filipina that works as a maid but I don't think I could get into a relationship with one that lives with me. It's possible to fall in love with a maid because sometimes Love is that powerful..but I would not preplan for it to happen by hiring a maid I could fall in love with
One thing he narrator forgot to mention is that having a maid in the Philippines is a good idea whether she is live in or not, because she will be buying groceries and other items for you. A number of merchants will charge foreigners more money for goods and services, so a maid can help avoid that problem.
At times when living in Indonesia I have had maids cleaning and laundry, never had any complaints although none of them were what most people would call attractive but they were employed to partake specific roles not to look at.
Honesty and Trust are essential. Consider her future. My wife worked for an American family in Singapore. She worked 7 days a week, with Sunday afternoons off. In addition to cooking and cleaning, she cared for 2 children. She made $80 a month in 1995. Not much opportunity for a family of her own. Fortunately we're happily settled in Central Texas now, with 2 great kiddos of our own.
God bless you and your wife if you work the job for an American family in 1996 making $80 a month that’s way way too low. The work she was doing all that bag then minimum $250 a day
In Hong Kong, I used to get up early to bring my son down to the school bus stop before dawn, as the school was quite far away. I would see another mother there with her child, but she still required their maid to accompany them to the bus stop before dawn. I bet she had to work until 8 pm minimum as well. What's the point of that? It's just abusive if the mother is able to bring the kid to the bus.
It's almost like a honey trap. Maybe it's best to frequently rotate maids? Find out what the goals/ambitions of the maid are and attempt to help them achieve these goals. That will make it much easier to move on at the end of a contract.
I had many live in maids in my adult life. I started in the 80's when I was n the Navy. Our submarine would have a 30 day upkeep in Subic Bay. Many of us would live in town and have a maid included in the rent. She took care me all time I as there cooked, cleaned, and paid the bills on time. She also my guide to the beaches and places to shop. But nothing came from it. It wasn't until I retired from the Navy and worked for a company that was building the new airport in Bangkok, Thailand. The apartment the company rented provided a cook and a maid. The maid was her daughter, she was young, beautiful, and attentive to you me. I didn't want to change the employer-employee relationship, however she wore me down an today we are happily married.
The old proverb of "Don't poop where you eat." applies here in my opinion. Having a live-in maid is a great idea, especially when she knows all the best places to shop and avoids the "foreigner tax" that so many businesses in the Philippines will charge you just because they perceive you as being uber rich and able to afford it. Falling in love with your employee is just a bad idea. Keep it civil, keep it professional, keep it respectful, even try to make it FRIENDLY, but don't make it into something more.
Sounds like good advice but I counter with don’t overlook possibilities. How many women have you worked with when you realize what a truly great woman she is? Don’t blow it it off because she “only a maid”.
@@lavern007 Good point, but let me counter with this: Even two wonderful people can fail at a relationship, and when it does fail, it more often than not results in at least some hard feelings and separation. In the early 80's I was stationed in Korea and had friends that were stationed in the Philippines before the bases were closed. Most of them had rented homes off base and had maids and gardeners. It was extremely affordable, even for military personnel. Sometimes there were extra curricular activities going but that was very common in the PI at that time.
You can ask the same question of any boss/employee scenario. The answer is always no, it's a bad idea. Just because she is a maid and works in your home rather than working in an office you manage doesn't make it a better idea. No, no, no.
There was a tv show called The Courtship of Eddie's Father (1969) with Bill Bixby. Everyone in the country wondered why he didnt just marry his Japanese housekeeper, Mrs Livingston (Miyoshi Umeki). It rode on the tail of post-war obsession with Japanese and other asian women. As a side note, the theme song by Harry Nilsson, Best Friend, is one of the greatest theme songs ever. I never figured out why she was named Mrs Livingston.

Easy to start, nearly impossible to end. When you and the person live like spouses, any separation is extremely painful. You can think that she is just a maid that you are having a relationship with in the house. But she sees you as a partner and an emotional support. As a single, sometimes paying for sex is not a bad idea. Because having a relationship is seriously very stressful. You may think its 'free' sex, but in reality you are or will ultimately be paying more than just that handful of dollars.

If a single man has a woman who takes care of all the household chores, and he has to treat her with respect and fairness (as well he should treat her, just like he should treat everyone with respect), that woman should be called a wife! That is the duty of a traditional wife. If he does not want to "wife her up", keep it strictly professional and don't have her live in his home! Pay her a livable wage so that she does her work during the day and goes back to her own domicile at night.

I've been an expatriate in many countries and had maids in most. Never a live in maid. A number of times, the maid had been a widow or a divorcee. Ive had great relationships and affairs with these maids. The good thing is that this goes under cover.. no one knows and is usually mutually beneficial, giving the maids extra money.
I would recommend that you or anyone presented with an opportunity to form a love relationship with a filipina maid should not do so. The economic situation of most maids, combined with their lack of education and mis-understanding of western relationships, makes them a very poor candidate for a lasting relationship. Yeah, they can cook and clean good, and they will probably satisfy the physical desires of her boss/mate, but if you choose to go this route....it is far likely that you will end up a sugar-daddy and supporter of both her and her family, (Extended and otherwise). Its far better to keep it just business.
I never though of this since I have been alone for 14 yrs and moving to the philippines where I want to enjoy life with a woman who I can talk too and the possibility of a relation forming seems like a good Idea if you are older and just need someone around. Its a good relationship. I would have never tired online dating if I could hire a maid and just be a friend in the house.
I married a Philippine lady and have changed her life beyond her wildest dreams and have secured her lifetime future making her a Philippine millionaire many times over
Love is love, relationships happen, so it’s fine as long as their is no exploitation of the situation. The decision that has to made is the one of when the employer needs to go home. Does he commit to taking her back with him.
Before I became disabled my Filipina wife used to visit the PIL 12 years in a row. We had several young girls as maids however I would NEVER FALL IN LOVE WITH 'THE HELP.' My wife and I have a 33-year marriage and we have no intentions of messing that up.
It can easily happen, but what happens if they DO fall in love with each other? Her daily tasks wont change all that much going from maid to wife, but few husbands pay their wives a monthly salary.
If two people fall in love, it is between them, not us. Same with age differences. Some people, especially in countries like here in the USA, put too much focus on age. I have met so many couples that are the same age but are very unhappy, I have seen men in their 70s with women in their late twenties or in their 30s that are deeply in love with each other, and both are happy. Love is the key, not money, not looks, not age, etc, but do they love and respect each other, THAT'S what really matters.

But i don't know how to find a maid there, is there a agency for that, or just advertising?
Speaking only for myself. If a man is seeking companionship because he's lonely, and the housekeeper is seeking employment for a steady income. Then they should not be involved in a relationship. The man is simply trying to fill an empty spot of loneliness with a relationship and it could be anybody. The housekeeper is seeking financial security these are not a good basis for a relationship.
I think it would be a little weird to fall in love with someone who is essentially your employee/employer. Although on the flip side, if you are living together and spending time getting to know one another on a more personal level I think it's bound to happen from time to time. You can't help who you fall in love with. It's just something that happens and it either works or it doesn't. As long as you are open and honest about it, I don't really see that big of an issue.
Reading westerners comments show how clueless we are. I say this as I grew up in Texas but in an Asian family. The cultures are very different but not incapable of mixing.
Well I'm a pretty easy-going guy. Semi-decent looking. Definitely kind nature but I refuse to let people take advantage of me. I would like a beautiful Filipino maid with brains hard to find. No children. I would be willing to pay her higher rates than normal as long as she save money in an investment account in the Philippines for her future. Some sort of investment account in a legitimate institution. Not a crazy amount of money. Mentally stable Filipina woman. Honest decent Filipina woman
You may find one but most of them will spend all the money she makes to support even extended family in village or wants money to treat sick buffalo in village!

The good thing is that this goes under cover.. no one knows and is usually mutually beneficial, giving the maids extra money.
Great Vlog Very Informative
I would recommend that you or anyone presented with an opportunity to form a love relationship with a filipina maid should not do so. The economic situation of most maids, combined with their lack of education and mis-understanding of western relationships, makes them a very poor candidate for a lasting relationship. Yeah, they can cook and clean good, and they will probably satisfy the physical desires of her boss/mate, but if you choose to go this route....it is far likely that you will end up a sugar-daddy and supporter of both her and her family, (Extended and otherwise). Its far better to keep it just business.
Bingo!
Thanks for ur video for about Philipino
Thanks for your good explanation, that is a really good chance to open up for both sides. Very good 😊
I never though of this since I have been alone for 14 yrs and moving to the philippines where I want to enjoy life with a woman who I can talk too and the possibility of a relation forming seems like a good Idea if you are older and just need someone around. Its a good relationship. I would have never tired online dating if I could hire a maid and just be a friend in the house.
Love is love. BUT, be sure that it's GENUINE.
Hello nice video , I think its a wonderful plan to have a lady from the Philippines take care of your home and needs . Thank you.
Obedience and respect is key.
I married a Philippine lady and have changed her life beyond her wildest dreams and have secured her lifetime future making her a Philippine millionaire many times over
I need one over here in America for that price.
If you marry your maid she might want to get her own maid. But I’ll bet that she only hires ugly ones.🤣
Yes ,its all good with falling in love with Maid ❤❤😊
Love is where you find it .
Love has no boundaries
Universal lore of respect
When you connect to someone money religion colour status means nothing
Finding your true ♥️its the 💖✨️✨️ Finding the foundation for your little 🍎🌳 means ♥️♾️
Yes. With a happy ending
Love the people of the Philippines. Very humble and loving people.
No their not be wary its a set up.
Why not? It starts at a very personal contact....
There is a job. That give the employe full time work.
And position that should be respected. God bless
Philippines is a beautiful country with beautiful people, it will be my second home, i will come back every year. I would like to have a maid, someone ho helps me with things and just somone to talk to. And the Filipino people is the most friendly and hospitable people in the world. i just love it there. But i don't know how to find a maid there, is there a agency for that, or just advertising?
Boros022,
That’s what I need!!!
0:23 "...provide a much needed helping hand" oh yeah, i need a "helping hand" from time to time lol
Sounds good to me ❤❤❤
I hope so.
All things being equal, this is the truth EVERYWHERE:
From "Paint Your Wagon"
Horace Tabor : Wait a minute! You can't buy a woman for money.
Mad Jack Duncan : You just try and get one without it.
Yes it’s a perfect method to find a beautiful lady
I have a question I’m coming to Cebu in January 2024 I’m gonna be there about a month or two do they have a service or I can have a live-in maid for that period of time . To take care of the household utilities and making us food also to travel around with me exploring and learning of new places in the Philippines for the time to get there.
Do you have to fall in love? Or can you just, well, you know, have a relationship?
This can also apply to a live in Filipina nanny. However, if I'm a single guy hiring a maid and she's hot and something happens, well, things can and will happen sometimes. Wink, wink!
Love is love
How hard is it to get a live in maid to move to the us and work there?
Why do you have to have the maid live in? Sometimes I enjoy my solitude. I guess you could send her to the mall for a few hours?
If you want solitude send her to her room for a few hours. You’re the boss.😊
So is the girl with the umbrella a maid? Interesting information though
no need for maid on every day basis.theres little to clean every day.one day a week is sufficient. and cooking can be arranged as delivery. on the other hand you keep freedom of not having her in apt every day and night. avoid too much contact with maid
If your maid falls in love with you , you are a lucky man , now you have a women that knows some of your secrets and excepts them , also you already have an independent women with an fixed allowance, plus a full time maid , win/win
I always employed an older maid, so to avoid this situation. However at 71 she was slow.
❤ Boa noite linda interessante a tua cidade muito bonita parabéns sucesso
Is this an ad for importing Filipina maids to the USA for housekeeping and later marriage?
I need one to help take care of my wife and the chores. What’s the best site to find one ?
It’s true my aunt is Filipino
Never forget....It is always cheaper to rent than buy.
Yup happens all the time
This entire video's voice over played on only the right channel. I wondered if this was intentional?
I'd buy her a French maid outfit😍
thanks
Haha 😂 that’s how 4 of my cousins came to be…. ❤
One thing leads to another. 😅
I think I can use a live in maid here in the US considering how busy life is here in general!!!
What’s the current rate for having a maid /cook full time?
That's the trouble. My wife says only an ugly girl in the house.
