Your candid approach to mathematics has helped me learn better in my courses! Before I was almost scared to learn new concepts, and so struggled to actually absorb and understand them, but your videos, especially the ones on your mistakes have really helped me shed that fear, and now I've really begun to enjoy undergrad mathematics like I did in HS! Thanks a ton!
Having a strong grasp of definitions throughout mathematics seems half the battle sometimes. Some of those proofs look brutal. Good luck to you and thanks for sharing. 👍
This was stuff I did as a first-year Biostat PhD student, and I got hot flashes seeing this material. But you explain it so well, it makes me question my professor, so thank you lol
Taking my first graduate level course right now on manifolds & differential forms. Takes a while to get the definitions down and some of the proofs feel inaccessible but it's getting there!
I love pure mathematics, but was scared away from its rigors when I was an undergrad. I still ended my degree with a double major in Physics and Applied Mathematics, but I always find myself wishing I had stuck with the pure mathematics degree instead of applied. I was hoping you could give some advice for those of us who are wanting to go back to tackle our "pure math" anxieties. I remember the moment I decided to swap over to applied math. I was sitting in my Analysis class and we were going over some definitions from baby Rudin. As I was watching the professor up at the board scrawling down these definitions I became overwhelmed with the feeling that I couldn't do another one of these courses in analysis. I had BARELY passed my intro analysis class. I struggled pretty hard to get a B, but I felt like I didn't even deserve that because by the time I ended the course I was so dazed from it that almost everything I learned just leaked out of my head. From that point on I became one of those who started to fear the pure mathematics side of things a bit. I'm wishing to overcome this. What gets you through any times where you feel really stuck in your studies?
Breaks are important, due something simple that eases you. I like to walk and listen to music. It sounds simple but it needs to be done. If you still find yourself stuck, always ask your instructor for help. I am constantly bugging home for hints lol
It’s more important to take notes once you start learning definitions, and important theorems that you’ll use to prove stuff. Still useful to have some material in your own words that you can reference for those calc classes tho.
@@quinncormier-bq2pt yeah idk about others but calc and diff eq is easy, you just have to memorize patterns and routines. Real maths classes are in a whole nother universe
I'm interested knowing how you choose different types of paper for taking notes, and how your organize them, like do you have your favourite paper for note taking?
I loved math but could not grasp proofs for the life of me. I failed my intro to proofs class which was a necessary class to declare my major, but i failed 2x so i never got far. The headaches didnt seem worth it anymore but it is incredible to see how it all turns out for people who stick to it and work super hard to understand. Kudos and to and wishing you luck on your journey! I am seeing another side of what could've been true of my life through you :)
Your past was decided, and what if Allah intends to harm you, then there is nobody that can help you, and if He intends to help you, there is nobody to harm you. So do do not think of past in a manner that you use if. This is a tactic/strategy used by Shaytan/Iblis/Satan to distract you from way of Allah
May be a stupid question but why you have to know all these proofs? It would help you to write your own proofs/give you some ideas for problem solving? In Analysis or lineal algebra I like proofs cuz I like to understand where things came from, but why you still need all this in a Ph.D level? . :)
I don't do uni level math but i do do olympiad math which is kinda related. The proofs often give smart ideas on how to prove other things, and by memorising the proof you can also understand the theorem on a deeper level
If he believes something is true he has to write proof using existing definitions and theorems. You won't understand differentiation if you don't understand limits. To build up a new concept you have to know previous concepts too and hope if someone doesn't come up with counter examples.
Thank you for making these videos. I am a software engg. I worked through Analysis from Abbott's 'Understanding Analysis'. Out of curiosity, what's the measure and probability book on your desk? I have begun working through undergrad measure by Capinski.
I didn’t see any measure and probability book on his desk but I think you may be asking about measure and integral by wheeden and zygmund. It’s a real analysis and measure theory book. If you are interested in measure theoretic probability you could check out “a first look at rigorous probability” by rosenthal, knowing the odds by John b Walsh or PTE by rick durrett
im in 11th and 99% of this makes sense but the thing that I do not understand is the formatting. In general are college classes related to theorems like this?
Can you suggest me some books or resources to getting start with real and complex analysis. Also method that you have used for time management? It will be a big help!!!
why the redundant channel name lol

These videos are invaluable to aspiring grad students. You're doing a great service, thanks so much.
Can't understand a thing you're studying, but it looks very interesting. Thank you.
Not doing any of these classes ever but I just love your content lol
The lecture notes are so clear and concise.

mathtician do not revard probability theory as pure mathematics. only Doob did.
It’s wild to me how much analysis is in grad level probability. I could barely understand the Lindenberg Thm, after you explained it!
Thank you , I love your channel
peace be upon you, are you a muslim?

wow feel like this could be applied to study physics also, ill try it keep y'all updated

Are the notes part of a book? If so, could you please provide the title?
what does it mean by no people, expecting someone to bring a friend on exam?
Happy ☺️
