After a couple months, it was like a light bulb went off. I said to myself "this is a trauma response." I used to do the same thing. In my early 30's, I realized I don't owe ppl an explanation for every little thing.

I’ve been in situations where someone close to me will have an opinion and in an effort to try and get their approval I will over explain my reasons to the 10th power, meanwhile I feel like crap doing because I also feel like I shouldn’t have to explain myself. I thought their reckless comments were a symptom of them not being at full capacity so I overexplained as a way to say something about the comments without saying the honest thing that has some bite to it.
