Animation is just a medium, and a medium doesn't define the story. People get so hung up on the medium, but it's ridiculous. It would be like saying a handwritten manuscript, and one typed are intrinsically different, despite containing the exact same words. Or like insisting the type of camera used to film a movie makes the story different. A good story, is a good story, no matter what medium it's told in.

you know why i love Steven universe so much, it isn’t like other cartoons, it doesn’t focus on being funny, it doesn’t focus on teaching a lesson, it doesn’t speak to the audience to force a message through their minds except the one episode where garnet says “i’m ready for this episode to end” and in change your mind the fusion between steven and garnet says something about telling a trusted adult about bullying and yadayada but that was meant as a joke Steven universe shows kids and many adult the importance in character development, to not judge people when you don’t know their past. it *shows* them, it gives many examples, for example, peridot, lapis lazuli, lars and sadie, bisthmuth. and it also shows them how to deal with issues with friends and family, the show creates a lovable character that many of the audience want to be like, and use this to help the world, it’s a mirror, and the reflection is just being a nice person telling children how to act won’t change them, it’s called a show for a reason and this this is real show
This show has helped me with my family problems. This show isn't like any show on cartoon Network, even on Nickelodeon (which is becoming a train wreck tbh) this is special, what kids and adults of all ages can understand. I hope that even 20 years in the future, people are talking about this. ✌️✌️
Actually, the biggest example of this happens to be Steven himself as he is judged based on his mom's actions by everyone from homeworld, who assume he is his mother despite his repeated attempts to explain that he isn't. When he finds out his mom was actually pink diamond, and explains it, everyone still thinks he's his mom, and they all start calling him "Pink," or "Pink Diamond," in one singular (and hilarious) instance being called "Pink Lasagna" by Yellow Diamond's Pearl. It isn't until two years after the series finale "Change Your Mind," at the start of "Steven Universe: The Movie," that he finally convinces everyone that he ISN'T his mom, and then he is attacked by spinel because she holds a grudge against Pink/Rose. (And at this point, who doesn't?) Steven needs some serious therapy...

I absolutely love how the animation represents each phase of their lives Rose, Rose & Greg, No one, Steven, Steven & Connie, and Stevonnie. It's beautiful actually... Rose started as a rebel but met Greg and loved him. She "passed" and everybody mourned her and the beach was quiet. Then Steven came and made everything more lively when he came to live with the gems. Then he made his first true friend, Connie. And finally, they fused into Stevonnie and it shows how much he's grown. I know this comment is long and dumb but the show is so amazing and this one animation feels like all of them are singing this song. Just at different times...

Okay, SU fans, I think I might be onto something! Since no one seems to have mentioned it, I think it's worth noting that something is being subtly foreshadowed now that the song has been completed. You might not have noticed, but at the end of every episode since Kindergarten Kid (I think), the completed song "Love Like You" no longer plays. That may not seem huge, but here's the catch: as each new episode comes, the endings have grown more "detached" from the show's usual peppy vibe. It first began with the lonely crash of the waves. But as time went on there has been background music behind those waves that ever so slightly grows more dissonant. It gives me this eerie feeling that something is about to go down. Now I'm unsure what it might be, but I keep getting this strange feeling that it's foreshadowing death... I know, it sounds drastic. But really! You should listen to it! There is actually a theory going around saying that Pink Diamond is voiced by Rebecca Sugar and this song is Pink Diamond singing to Rose before she gets shattered! A lot of lines do make sense, like when Sugar sings "I always thought I might be bad". She (PD) sees that Rose loves the Earth and PD sees that it is (Earth) beautiful and wants to loves the Earth too and thinks that she is the bad guy for colonizing the Earth.And after the song ends we get a mysterious music end cut and this could be after PD is 'supposedly shattered' and she stops singing and every turns south! XD also, the line "Love like you" can also fit in because PD want to love earth like Rose!
I agree, this makes the most sense. Also, if you listen to 0:35, her voice starts getting all static-y, like her gem was already cracked to begin with before she even started singing. Another line that's worth noting as well, is the very last line "Love me like you", as in "I could learn how to love myself like you love me". So if it really is Pink Diamond singing, it's possible that she really hated herself and just couldn't understand why everyone loved her so much.

you know why i love Steven universe so much, it isn’t like other cartoons, it doesn’t focus on being funny, it doesn’t focus on teaching a lesson, it doesn’t speak to the audience to force a message through their minds except the one episode where garnet says “i’m ready for this episode to end” and in change your mind the fusion between steven and garnet says something about telling a trusted adult about bullying and yadayada but that was meant as a joke
Steven universe shows kids and many adult the importance in character development, to not judge people when you don’t know their past. it *shows* them, it gives many examples, for example, peridot, lapis lazuli, lars and sadie, bisthmuth.
and it also shows them how to deal with issues with friends and family, the show creates a lovable character that many of the audience want to be like, and use this to help the world, it’s a mirror, and the reflection is just being a nice person
telling children how to act won’t change them, it’s called a show for a reason

Actually, the biggest example of this happens to be Steven himself as he is judged based on his mom's actions by everyone from homeworld, who assume he is his mother despite his repeated attempts to explain that he isn't. When he finds out his mom was actually pink diamond, and explains it, everyone still thinks he's his mom, and they all start calling him "Pink," or "Pink Diamond," in one singular (and hilarious) instance being called "Pink Lasagna" by Yellow Diamond's Pearl. It isn't until two years after the series finale "Change Your Mind," at the start of "Steven Universe: The Movie," that he finally convinces everyone that he ISN'T his mom, and then he is attacked by spinel because she holds a grudge against Pink/Rose. (And at this point, who doesn't?)

I absolutely love how the animation represents each phase of their lives Rose, Rose & Greg, No one, Steven, Steven & Connie, and Stevonnie. It's beautiful actually... Rose started as a rebel but met Greg and loved him. She "passed" and everybody mourned her and the beach was quiet. Then Steven came and made everything more lively when he came to live with the gems. Then he made his first true friend, Connie. And finally, they fused into Stevonnie and it shows how much he's grown. I know this comment is long and dumb but the show is so amazing and this one animation feels like all of them are singing this song. Just at different times...

Okay, SU fans, I think I might be onto something! Since no one seems to have mentioned it, I think it's worth noting that something is being subtly foreshadowed now that the song has been completed. You might not have noticed, but at the end of every episode since Kindergarten Kid (I think), the completed song "Love Like You" no longer plays. That may not seem huge, but here's the catch: as each new episode comes, the endings have grown more "detached" from the show's usual peppy vibe. It first began with the lonely crash of the waves. But as time went on there has been background music behind those waves that ever so slightly grows more dissonant. It gives me this eerie feeling that something is about to go down. Now I'm unsure what it might be, but I keep getting this strange feeling that it's foreshadowing death... I know, it sounds drastic. But really! You should listen to it! Anyhow, I truly think the writers are subtly warning us of something dangerous. Don't believe me? Watch the end of every episode since 'Buddy's Book' and you'll notice that the endings progressively become more spooky over time.

There is actually a theory going around saying that Pink Diamond is voiced by Rebecca Sugar and this song is Pink Diamond singing to Rose before she gets shattered! A lot of lines do make sense, like when Sugar sings "I always thought I might be bad". She (PD) sees that Rose loves the Earth and PD sees that it is (Earth) beautiful and wants to loves the Earth too and thinks that she is the bad guy for colonizing the Earth.And after the song ends we get a mysterious music end cut and this could be after PD is 'supposedly shattered' and she stops singing and every turns south! XD also, the line "Love like you" can also fit in because PD want to love earth like Rose!

Another line that's worth noting as well, is the very last line "Love me like you", as in "I could learn how to love myself like you love me". So if it really is Pink Diamond singing, it's possible that she really hated herself and just couldn't understand why everyone loved her so much.

I think that pink did at some point realize the consequences of her actions, but she was either to ashamed or to scared to try and fix what she'd done, or she thought that because she was "bad" that she couldn't fix it, but maybe someone better than her could, someone who could love when she didn't, the way she saw humans do.
(I'm not excusing pink/rose for what she's done, you can theorize about someone's motives without condoning their actions.)
