What is wrong with the old fashioned throttle cable. Much simpler design, and if the cable breaks, or falls off the throttle body, it also will return the engine to idle, as nothing will be pulling the throttle body back. Guess I am stuck in the past, but I think 10 sensors to replace a throttle cable is excessive. Too much to go wrong when the car gets older.
They had a design methodology. Reduce mechanical systems in order to improve reliability. It did wonders for the HVAC and Electrical systems in their hybrids. Prius and newer Corolla Hybrids now have no accessory belts. Instead replaced with electrical fans, electronic water pumps, and no more alternators. Also no longer need a starter. But they have been replaced with complex electrical equipment. That equipment has to be robust and is likely not DIY friendly. Everything just needs to be replaced rather than repaired.
I have a 2005 Toyota Tundra 4x4 4.7 l having problems with the throttle not responding replace the throttle body still having problems it seems to be intermittent not sure what else it could be. Anyone have any suggestions
Well, except for the side mounted gas tanks on GM pickups, Ford's Pinto gas tank, ignition switch fiasco, and the Crown Vic gas tank problem. All caused fatalities.
The redundant sensors are good however it seems the entire system is dependent on the integrity the ECU and its ability to detect an internal fault, an external throttle control unit (TCU) with separate sensor input could be added to the system, both units ECU+TCU would reconcile sensor data with each other before fuel delivery or throttle movement by the TCU could continue.
well you are wrong sir, all of these safety futures are possible via sensors and ecm, but you can still detect the position of pedal and throttle and still use the safety things but you don't have to run an electric motor to control throttles position because of this. Adding electric motor just adds weight and increases the price of your cars.
This IS NOT A GOOD SYSTEM.. There's Way To Much Room For Era.. I Would Even Say It's DOWN RIGHT DANGEROUS.. The Idea Of Building A Better Mouse Trap In The Case Of Mechanics, Thrust, and Momentum? Is Stupid.. The Speaker States The System WOULD NOT Lock Into Acceleration.. However, It CLEARLY Doesn't Have The Same Response Time When The Driver Needs To Accelerate. Direct Cable To Carburetor? Is THE EXACT SAME IDEA As Hydraulic Breaking.. There's No Disconnection From The Operators Foot, To The Breaking Or Acceleration or Deceleration Of The Vehicle.. This Form Of Throttle Control Takes Full Control Of The Vehicle AWAY FROM THE OPERATOR. And? Puts It Into The Control Of A Computer./Electronic Device.. Which Is Vulnerable To Everything From Shorts Caused By Vibration Cutting Wires. To Moisture Buildup Creating Shorts In The System. To Electrical Corrosion That Builds Up In ALMOST EVERY FUNCTIONING ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.. Not Good.. Nope...
Toyota will have a big problem if the problems are from engineering. One thing to have an issue and resolve it, but another to do a PR video like this and have it come back to you.
Electronic throttles are just a measure by car companies to make sure the engine dosent break under their 3 year warranty period, and its disguised as "safety features" they restrict full engine potential
i agree with (whitetacoma04 ) nd also correct me if im wrong cant you cut the car off and stall the engine wtf..... if u could ,y not just do that instead SMH!!!!!
Way too over complicated.. Way too many electrical components. Gas pedal connected to cable which is connected to the throttle body. Failsafe: Spring attatched to the throttle valve to return engine to idle once you have taken your foot off the gas. Why over engineer a vehicle until its not dependable?
If they have to explain this travesty of engineering (which, admittedly most manufacturers now use) there is a problem. I will NOT own a vehicle that does not have a throttle cable, or I will fabricate and install one using the ECM and wiring from an older vehicle that does not use this crap. I have done so--it IS possible--but not easy.
Excellent explanation and use of simulator.

What does it mean when the ETC light comes on?
thanks

@gameraccounts Yes, not a joke

cable is the best, is serviceable :3
Toyota safety systeam is good
Where's the brake over-ride?

Mechanical is best , won't run out of control and kill people .use vw dbw it slows when brake is pressed not run away and kill people.
Show me step by step how to change the throttle control sensor.
Hello, you going to tell me or not?
And thanks a lots.

Don't you give trainings....
I want to learn Car Electrical maintenance....Can Any one help with that, guys.
...Conspired by Something called (G)overnment (M)oter (GM)...That is why none of the cars found flaw in them...That was the result.
