I loved this movie, I've always loved peanuts and I honestly didn't find not one thing wrong with it, it brought me back to my love for the work of Charles m. Shulz and I will continue to love it forever probably.
Seeing this movie was one of the few times I've gone to a movie theater, and the audience clapped at the end. THAT'S how impactful this movie is. If you can get an entire theater to clap at the end, you have done your job and you have done it well!
This is genuinely my favorite Blue Sky film. More than Epic, more than the original Ice Age, this is it. The movie just oozes charm, and as a person who's watched all the specials multiple times, I got a kick out of the references.
When The Little Red-Haired Girl told Charlie Brown how much she admired him, I cried quietly in the theater. Charlie Brown is my favorite Peanuts character. I can relate to him the most.
This film was indeed VERY nostalgic and had a great coming-of-age story. It reminded of why I loved the series to begin with! Inspiring morals, witty humor, and just showing how awesome and fun it was to be a kid!
The main reason this movie was so good is because it was scripted and produced by Scultz's son himself. Who has been doing the comics ever since his father passed away. Amazing what happens when you have the creator working on the project.
Loved the Peanuts movie. 1) The film was loyal to its classical source material. 2) The mixture of pencil and CG created this unique animation where you'll find beauty in its imperfection. 3) The writing is a funny slice of life and much of its success is due to its simplicity, similar to what Charlie Brown said while teaching a kid about how progress is made.
I went to see this with my little brother and I was thoroughly amazed at how mediocre I found this film to be. It's just a whole bunch of peanut references put together. I find myself agreeing with Christy here. I left the movie feeling kind of sad. I mean I'm glad it wasn't "Jem" but I can't say I was really happy with what I got. Later, I asked my brother what he thought and he described it as "a funny movie that couldn't make me laugh".
I couldn't agree more with you about how pleasantly surprising this movie is. I think the best part is that Charlie Brown's moment of triumph feels realistic and well-earned (even if he didn't get to kick the football). Even on his deathbed, Charles Schulz was resistant to the idea of giving Charlie what he wants just to satisfy the demands of the readers, because he said that his strip was meant to represent the uncerntanties in life that we might never overcome. This movie could have taken the route of Illumination's adaptation of "The Lorax" and just haphazardly slapped on a happy ending, but it didn't.
I've been waiting for a GREAT Blue Sky film.I loved how loyal and close this was to the original comic/cartoon. They could have easily been dicks and updated it, like with iphones, computers, etc. But they didn't they stayed loyal, and kept it timeless. I applaud them for it.
one of my favorite parts of the movie is when charlie brown finds out that the red head girl likes to dance and in turn he learns how to dance so he can impress her. it was a beautiful montage.
My nephew loved it and I was smiling the whole time. Such a great film. I absolutely loved the look of the film. I was very impressed with the work Blue Sky did. :D
Good mercy I loved this movie. It was an eye opener in all the right ways possible, plus it's one of the most beautiful animated movies I've seen in my life. Thanks for the review. I was worried that this was going to be the next "Smurfs" movie. Thanks for telling me that, at the least, this is not the case.
Peanuts is gold. The Peanuts movie was a really good movie. I would love to have many sequels in the future, perhaps with peppermint patty with a greater role for she is my favorite character.
I'm a 37 year old man. When I finally saw Charlie fly that kite...I cried. Straight cried and cheered. I love the peanuts. I'm a charlie brown. And I'm proud of it.
I didn't grow up with Peanuts, not the comic strip, not the show, not the specials and shorts, nor even the accompanying merchandise. But I knew of its existence and understood why it struck a chord with people. As such, I went into this film with an open mind and came out appreciating it much more. This is a wonderful film that appeals to anyone of any age from any generation that grew up with the franchise in all the best ways.
One thing you need to understand about The Peanuts, is that it is 65 years old. The daily comics launched back in 1950. This movie had to cater to the older audience through nostalgia as well as the younger audience. I'm 32, my husband 42, and my dad is almost 60. All three of us went to see it, just us adults. I liked the nostalgic factor that it had and the references to the comics and tv specials, but it was still new enough to not be boring.
This is coming extremely late, especially since I didn't get to see it in theaters and sorta forgot about it, brushing it off as a movie I was afraid of seeing since, let's be honest, a good majority of reboots nowadays tend to... Inaccurately represent their source material. The Peanuts Movie is a reboot, and if anything, it's a PERFECT REBOOT. It's everything all of us love about Peanuts and more, with jokes I actually laughed at, a great message for kids, great animation, and a really amazing story. Fact of the matter is, if anyone hasn't seen it, they immediately need to. It's great, it's really fucking great, especially the stuff with Snoopy and Woodstock who are funny as all hell in this movie.
I honestly don't get the Robots hate. I absolutely loved it when it came out. it was so much fun. My like for it had little to do with Ewan McGregor or Robin Williams, but it didn't hurt.
I left the theater very satisfied. I wanted classic Peanuts; no pop-cultural references, no sexual innuendos and absolutely no fart jokes. I got what I wanted :)
Things need to be modernized sometimes. You can't always do things now that you could in the past. But for the love of Christ studios, writers, and developers need to realize that relying on pop culture and popular gimmicks is NOT necessary to make something more accessible. This movie sounds like the perfect example of that.
I thought Snoopy's story would correspond with what is happening to Charlie Brown. Like when things went bad for Charlie because of the runaway plane, Snoopy wrote about the red baron ruining everything for him.
The Peanuts Movie is GREAT! I've always been a Charlie Brown fan ever since I was a kid. While the story was nothing really special just about Charlie Brown trying to impress the Little Red-Haired Girl who he's having a crush on and Snoopy doing his imagination, All the characters in this film act the same way they did in the original source material, the animation in this film is very unique and Snoopy will always be my favorite character. Overall, it's great animated film but i still enjoy Inside Out more. This movie sure makes me feel like a kid again. So 4 out of 5 for me.
Here's my take on the movie: for non-enochlophobics, it's fantastic! I would recommend this movie to anyone who is a Peanuts fan or just want a fresh start from the nostalgic days. But for people with enochlophobia like me, I would just skip this movie if I were you. It has too many energetic scenes that would shake you to the bone with startling crowd sound effects and large shot POVS. Just watch something like- I don't know, The Good Dinosaur or something.
I was a little disappointed in the film. I agree that the animation style and music is great but I found the content series lack from the source material and just in most cases a copy of the comics without the educational aspects. This movie makes a joke out of Linus by setting him up to give his usual great exploration and opinion on matters only to stop him every time. We hear how ground breaking Charlie's book report is but never hear what makes it so thought provoking. I think Stoltz would have been on them to contribute something original to say and explore instead of just the surface substance of the comics. He pushed them in the past to make the specials more educated and he probably would have continued today if he could have.
I saw this movie and 'The Good Dinosaur' within a few weeks of each other. I never thought I would ever enjoy a Blue Sky movie better than a Pixar one, but there you go, this movie hit The Good Dinosaur right out of the ball park!
I was so pleased with this film. I had similar feelings about Blue Sky, but maybe this movie will turn some things around for them…. Ooh i forgot… disney happened.

In a world where The Peanuts Movie is better than a James Bond movie.

This movie was so simple, yet so genuinely effective.

The Peanuts movie style is perfection!
Makes me want to do the snoopy dance.

The peanuts movie was such a great movie it's like you're re living your childhood.

keep up the quality content matt!!!! glad youve been uploading pretty frequently as of late & im excited to see which topics u choose to do next!
This film is gorgeous both on a literal surface level and a philosophical deep level.

This is one of the first movies in a long time that I want to see in the theaters.
I didn't see any peanuts media before seeing it and I loved it! So you were right on that!
This is coming extremely late, especially since I didn't get to see it in theaters and sorta forgot about it, brushing it off as a movie I was afraid of seeing since, let's be honest, a good majority of reboots nowadays tend to... I imagine that if Beavis and Butthead had watched this Peanuts review, they would never have stopped giggling.
Wow, this was very enlightening and heartfelt.
Fun fact: Charles Schultz hated jazz. He was a classical fan. Bringing in Vince Guaraldi wouldn't have happened if he had his way.
Why does everything peanuts make me cry.
How did the kids act so brilliant in this movie.
Wait... a modern animated movie related to something in the past that doesn't rely on Pop-Culture references?! What kind of magic is this?!
Yes

My childhood movie :D
I think they said that to reveal why they didn't like the movie. So short version is if you like penuts you like the movie.
This is another movie I forgot came out in 2015. Then again 2015 was the year I dissociated most of it, so that’s understandable.
I thought Snoopy's story would correspond with what is happening to Charlie Brown. Like when things went bad for Charlie because of the runaway plane, Snoopy wrote about the red baron ruining everything for him.
Oooohhh ^-^ YA LA QUIERO VEEEER!!!

I remember the Peanuts movie
This video should get more views!!!
But I wanted a gritty reboot
:D
Would you ever review the 1995 live-action adaptation of Casper?
rats. this video is pretty good.
Too bad no sequel.
The adults voices bother me.
Yo bro remember me?
hi jojo
Hola Eduardo
Maybe it's because I'm not that familiar with the characters or the franchise, but I found this movie really boring and cliched.
Fun fact, Snoopy was voiced by his original voice actor through archived recordings.
Here are my ratings:
The Story - 8/10
The Animation - 9/10
The Characters - 9/10
The Peanuts Movie - 9/10
Everything was on high point when this movie came out, good times :).
Aw I'm gonna cry
