Isekai literally means another world. So as this takes place in another world it's technically not wrong to call it that. He hasn't been isekai'ed though as he didn't come from another world. It's annoying though as it's used as a buzzword of sorts so everyone conflates them on purpose to get more readers, though they should be separate genres from the readers' perspectives. Just like there should be distinctions between reincarnating and world transmigration but then there's plenty of stories with both and or going back in time or reincarnating as someone else within the same world. It all gets muddled together these days. Even stories taking place on earth where earth is transformed by gates, towers, dungeons, aliens, or magic in general appearing are thrown in with isekai genre often enough.

Have been reading this since day dot release, and have found it to be one of the most wholesome mangas I've had the pleasure to read where the MC is an honest, straight-up decent old school hero who will care and protect those who need it. Absolutely great read, and it's still going. Read it.
If you guys like this might i recommend another called “Dungeon no Osananajimi” it’s another really wholesome one about a pair of childhood friends. Ones a dragon girl who is in charge of a popular and difficult dungeon and the other is an adventure. The story revolves around there time together and what goes on in the dungeon and, with the help of the 4 dungeons generals, a bunch of schemes to try and get the two childhood friends together. All and all I would say it’s just as wholesome as this story

Isekai has become a silly step for any story. They never uses the conflict of changing to other world can do. Everything is solved in 1 or 2 episodes. He already is familiar with the culture and world around him/her, and already he or she is op and doesn't have any problem that can be solved by themselves in one day..... Most isekai is I am from another world but that doesn't matter.
