You don't need a CAT8 cable. Your experience will be bottlenecked by the quality of the wifi connection from your phone to your router/access point. The PS5 has a gigabit ethernet port which you can max out on much cheaper CAT5e.
Bought both the black and white versions to try out. I ended up keeping the white PS version because the face buttons felt better. Glossy face buttons gave me a familiar controller feel. The black versions face buttons are matte but feel a little scratchy/chalky. That being said I was really just splitting hairs at that point. Either version is great.

What was the manufacturer thinking? After watching a few videos, I searched EXTRA for the 2nd generation variant for “Apple iPhone Android USB-C” when ordering and then ordered accordingly. Even if the manufacturer is probably completely surprised ... I actually have a very rare iPhone 15 Pro. Then I realized that the controller doesn't work with the iPhone at all. To make it compatible, you need an Android phone with USB-C - that makes sense, right? The best thing: I really had to search for a loooooong time to find someone in my environment with an Android phone ... but I managed it. Unfortunately, the controller then shows firmware version 1.2.1 ... along with the note that this is the latest version = no firmware update. The Backbone website then states that the controller for the iPhone 15 only works from version 1.2.2. That's what I call checkmate. I'm sending the space junk back now, and I'm buying a controller that works with the iPhone 15 Pro, just not from Backbone.

Thanks for the review! Does the bezel around the camera bump on thicker cases cause the phone to be placed at an angle/tilt on the usbc port? Or is there still a bit of daylight clearance between the bump and the horizontal bar of the backbone? That’s my only worry as I don’t want to damage the port on my phone!

If the phone is seated at a slight angle because of the bump, I’d be slightly worried about whether that might stress damage the usbc port on the iPhone over time.

I cant get mine to connect to my ps5. It works on the app and stuff but when i get in remote play, it shows the button overlay on my phone screen and cant control it with the controller
Ensure it's enabled through the PS5 first. Then re-connect. Normally the onscreen controls will disappear b themselves. Also have your bluetooth enabled.

I have a ROG 6 Pro. its 173mm in hight. will it fit into the slot? (assuming it doesn't matter its an android or apple since now its type c) I don't mind it being off centre since the type c in Rog is at the side. My current kishi V2 fits leaving about a millimetre or less space when fully stretched. But its not forced.

This guy is right, the official website says otherwise. I think Android users can't use the PS remote play app paired with an android/standard backbone gen 2. In the video we see him using remote play on an iPhone 15, maybe that's why. given the fact that the Playstation Portal just went out, maybe Sony just made sure that the backbone doesn't steal the market of the PS Portal, maybe a future update will make it possible, but for now, if you're an android user, you must get the Playstation version to be able to use the PS remote play

That's because of the phone screen size. Get the largest type c mid-range phone you can find. The closest to 7", the better. Or you can try playing with a tablet. That's even better, despite being off the hook.
How loud in your opinion... is the abxy buttons compared to an xbox controller. The xbox controller is fine if I don't press it to hard, im looking for a quiter one for car rides.
@@five50productions26u have to turn on remote play in xbox options and make sure the setting is enabled to update while off/sleep mode. I dont remember how it's labeled specifically but browse ur options and u shoukd be able to figure it out. I think it's under power settings & internet settings.

But at least Backbone is decent enough not to overprice their device--especially with that caveat. They are hoping you'd subscribe to their service, though.

Since CAT.8 cables are as cheap as earlier generations at this point, it doesn't really matter.
But you do tho sometimes. I had a cat6 and my ps5 dl speed was capped at 100mbps. I changed it to cat8 and i was getting 1gb speed
