    Hi guys! Stu is a close friend of mine at Sidney Sussex and is super smart (the definition of a first class student). I thought it would be interesting to do a qna with him to answer some questions about the engineering course, and tips about applications. Time stamps are in the description:)
    I know this is a different type of video to what I usually do but I hope this was helpful and insightful for applicants:) Please let me know what subject/sport/any niches you would like next

      Just finished my interview for Cambridge yesterday! What were your impressions after the interview? Did you think you would get in? I think I have mixed feelings.

    • @amandakangai6541

      @@billbill1235 heyya. Congrats on finishing your interviews! My impression was very neutral - I didn't feel like it went bad, but I wasn't sure about how well it went relative to others, so I felt similar to you. I would advise that you try not to think about it, because you can't do anything to change it or contribute to your application. At least, that's what I did. You have to know yourself, and if you're the person that overthinks, don't get too into it! Even if you think about it, there's not a way to determine the outcome. I had no idea what the outcome would be, because the interviews are just a factor to the overall application, not everything. I put all my effort into studying, and aiming to make the grades if I got accepted. Just to get an interview, congrats for that. Take care of yourself, especially in the next month awaiting the result :)

    Hi!! I love this vid very much. I have some questions to ask. I have got my offer to study at Cambridge in January and there are about 7 months before the entry. My questions are:
    1) What would you hope to learn or the skills that you want to pick up before the entry in hindsight, so that you don't need to struggle on sthg in Cambridge that you can learn beforehand?
    2) How does the Cambridge assignment look like? Are they mainly mathematical and physics (typical engineering) solving questions that you need to complete and discuss in class? Or it is certain writing assignments that requires a lots of reading?
    Thank you

    • @_whoisuj
      @_whoisuj  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Nathan, this is what stu says
      “1) I'd say the only thing aside from focusing on your A-levels is to try and learn the basics of coding with python. It's used quite a bit without ever really being taught so learning the basics before arriving is useful. Codecademy has good courses you can do if you get the free trial
      2) In 1st and 2nd year there's almost no assigned reading or essay type assignments. It's mostly examples papers (maths and physics type questions that go through the topics covered in lectures) for which you will discuss the answers in supervisions. And there's also labs which sometimes you have to write a lab report on but you're generally guided through it with questions to answer and it's standard credit so you get all the marks if you submit something satisfactory
      In 3rd and 4th year it changes but you have a lot of choice so dont worry about that yet”

    Great vid! I’m just about to start but I’m looking for the best device for the course. What would you say is best? Windows, iPad, MacBook? What kind of minimum specs for device do you think you need?

    With my GCSES AND these a levels grades if I was to do well in interview and admission tests do you think I have a competitive application for engineering at Cambridge especially since my GCSES are low ?

    • @_whoisuj
      @_whoisuj  3 роки тому +1

      Hi! The cambridge application process is very holistic and takes into account all parts of your application. Your gcses may affect your application slightly but your A level predictions are great:) If you perform very well in the interview and admissions testing, you should have a decent chance at an offer:)
