Hey, thanks for stopping by! If you like Simon Stålenhag, you might like some of the story-based music I produced throughout the past 10 years. I make post-apocalyptic stuff, folk horror, gothic fiction, cyberpunk - essentially a new concept/story for every release. Find it on this channel and on all streaming services if you feel like checking it out :) x - Ørdop Wolkenscheidt
I have a book of his work . I knew he would work on a TV series some where. If Clan of the cave bear, does become a series some day he should work on that too. I saw his book that inspired Into the Loop series, I I like the dreamy weirdness here and now look about it clear, awake and beautiful, yet bleak but adventurous. Some times existential and dangerous and sometimes free. Its contemporary yet sometime in the future.
Man, Simon here itching the type of Sci-fi art never seen before. There's something mesmerizing about these old 70s/80s cars contrasting with advanced robots, starships and buildings, with the beauty of Swedish nature in the background. I simply love it!
That's probably the reason why these painting make that impression on me, I'm in total awe here...If it where a game just a walking simulator I would play the hell out of it just to see those paintings.
I absolutely love the oblique, mysterious nature of this art, and that no explanations were offered. Is this place Earth? A different Earth? Clearly some very large things had occurred, but what? The machines and vehicles had all failed, but the 80s automobiles still operated. And it appears that people live in houses much like those here.... And it looks like some old tech is functional....electric lights, power lines....and yet there are cyborgs with spears. Thank you.
The lore of this drawn world, if it all takes place in the same universe, must be absolutely rife with lore! I would love to explore this alternative dimension in a book/movie/game/anything! The more I see the more I want to draw my own fantasy world I like to think about. I hope I get good enough to express it as well as you do some day.
Hi! Thank you for your comment. I am just a fan who made some music and put it under these breathtaking pictures, but it will probably make you happy to hear that there is a kickstarter running for a tabletop game called "Tales of the Loop" and that Simon Stålenhag was involved in the design of the board game Scythe. There is also a book. If you want to keep exploring I would recommend you to start there. Also, good luck with expressing your ideas! :)
im imagining some kind of world where stuff from the past and the future starts getting stranded in the present due to some kind of rip in spacetime. Dinosaurs and post apocalyptic cyborgs run amok. Some of the stuff gets reverse-engineered (such as a antigrav tractors), salvaged, or re-purposed (used for housing, advertisement, graffiti art). But most are left sitting there to decay, and areas where these objects fall are often abandoned due to safety concerns (they can collapse buildings, contain dangerous chemicals etc). But most of their danger comes when a dangerous bit of tech gets into the wrong hands (like at 4:35) or when prehistoric animals get hungry.
Just gotta say, I've listened to this video/song maybe 100+ times. Its a masterpiece! I've tried your other songs as well but this one stands out with the pacing, the build up, its a gem. Thank you for this work of art.
Thank you very much for your kind words, this really means a lot to me. I have quite a few nostalgic memories about making this song (it was one of my first serious attempts of making electronic music), and it is really nice that it can give some joy to other people too :)
I am reading through all the Simon Stalenhag books. This is great in the background. But I have paired the books with Hotel Ambient by Moby. Great atmosphere...( not the kind of stuff you'd associate with Moby at all).
Watching those AWESOME pictures makes me wanna play Generation Zero again. Not sure if the game got inspired by Simon or he got inspired by the game. Anyway.. Awesome
There there dislike, not all these buildings are Brutalist. I also consider Brutalism to be ancient history. But this is fantastic! Bloody brilliant!!!!!!!
I love the brutalist style. I wish it would come back into vogue. I think what's going on in architecture now (if indeed there is anything going on in architecture) sucks royally. No vision, no imagination, nothing. Even the so called visionary architects like Gehry are lame...
Does anyone know if Simon's work is digital or paint? Tales from the loop is great but I be been a fan of his work for around 7 years now. This is a great video, thanks for putting it up.
Warn your kids that if they're going to poke around exploring FutureTech out in the woods to not mess around with velociraptor cubs. They're parents might be near by...

All of the places in his art are real btw!
@@irken_ruler2 Sweden right?
@@mirosymo3331 yeah. One of his books takes place in California too.
His art is wonderful just for the odd juxtaposition of all this insane technology and normalcy.
It provokes wonder & curiosity
This man is underrated. Amazing art.
A lot of these paintings remind me of the atmosphere in Canada
The artist is from Sweden, so that makes sense. Similar latitude.

I start watching "Tales from the Loop " and so I discovered this amazing artist 😀
extremely cool
Interesting, very interesting.
Wow I love this.
Ive just discovered this. Im in love....
Beautiful, perfect symbiosis of visual and music.
This world seems like a bit of a dystopi... 3:17... it’s perfect

The tv show of Tales from the Loop is out on Amazon Prime
@@milky_wayan even though that’s not the story that’s a really cool idea! Maybe you should write a book as well.
This is literally liminal sci-fi, and I’m hear for it
His art reminds me of the 1980s Spacebase books. Very retro like style, like Boris Vallejo.
Perfetto connubio tra poesia musicale e fascino retrò/futurista . Genio

Nice sound to design too!!!!! Thanks!!!!
Love the artwork, it's a great mix of past, present, and future. I wish I could be there :D
This reminds me of generation zero.
Beautiful game
u can read a story where the actual artist had problems with them copying his world

Amazing artwork
Jag förknippar 80-talet med vinter jag också. Rocky IV bidrog starkt till det, liksom gjorde vinjetten till Norra Magasinet.
Is this the future?
I hope so
Retrofuture. Set in the past with futuristic elements
Wow
Watching those AWESOME pictures makes me wanna play Generation Zero again. Not sure if the game got inspired by Simon or he got inspired by the game. Anyway.. Awesome
I like the realism and the realism in the ideas. Now you must have a story over it, and hollywood will give you all the money you need.
Already being done.
Beautiful stuff!
Adoro este tipo de cosas

Lol you love caveman mud crap then,? Cause that´s what brutalist buildings look like...
Yatukih001 No, I like the lines and industrial bauhaus elements. The shantytown stuff I don't think of as Brutalist.
Oh ok...
This needs or be a video game
Some of the artwork has a 'Horizon Zero Dawn' vibe. A game well worth playing, if you haven't already...
Al minuto 1:18 la maschera contro il Covid! 😲
wooooooooooooooooooow!!!!!
top rank painter

It's digital. I think there are some videos on UA-cam where he talks about his process. And thanks a lot, you are welcome!
