Leo and Heather, what an outstanding job you all did on this. I can't imagine the loss and devastation these families went through and still may be going through. Bless all of these families.
So very sad some so young left many children and wifes and some parents lost 2 sons some families lost a husband father and uncles i feel so sad for all of them and i really feel bad for the lone survivor that had to help recover and bring his friends bodies up out of that mine i prsy for him and all the families that lost their loved ones i pray their wives and children are doing well thank you for remembering these brave men may God bless the ones left behind
It affected a lot of people a lot of people in the town that knew each other they become a family when the towns are small there was a lot of hurt in that little town God bless him Merry Christmas to you
Very tragic story. May all the victims rest in peace 🙏 I hope working conditions are better for miners today. Thank you very much Leo and Heather for sharing this story. I wish you both a Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 and happy new year 🎉 😊
That's another place like Logan County and alot of other places in Eastern Kentucky and western west virginia. You have two choices dig coal or haul coal! And neither choice is a safe one. Even 50 years later we need to pray for the families of these men and all the ones from every other mine disaster🙏
Well, I cried my heart out. I think so many of us have been touched by the death of a family member from a mining death. I know my family has experienced it. Severe injuries also. My daddy’s back was broken at an old punch mine over at Gilbert Creek back in the early 1960’s. My daddy’s brother had a massive heart attack working at Omar Mining Coming and only by the grace of God and surgeons at Charleston General (at the time)! saved his life but he never went back in the mines. God bless all our KY, WV coal miners. 😢😢😢
I have kin in this. I am bawling and can’t thank you enough for remembering them. My family is in KY. On the Henson’s side. ♥️✨♥️OH WOW..I am calling my sister. Delbert!
The Hoskins and Wagers were related as well. One of my friends, who recently passed away, discussed his family members with me who passed away in this mine disaster. More of his relatives, but not all, live in southern Indiana where I live. Such a tragic story, thank you for remembering them and paying tribute to them and their families! Gone but never forgotten.
Merry Christmas, Heather and Leo! God bless you and your family. Keep making great videos. P.S. I wrote my name in the snow, too. But ran out of "ink" and didn't finish it. Lol
Thank y'all for a very nice story. And for not letting these folks' stories be forgotten. Mining is a dangerous job by itself. When mine owners cut corners and knowingly make miners work in danderous conditions over and above just mining, is criminal and the responsable ones should be in jail. I have to guess the mine owners probably paid off politicians and inspectors. All of which should be in jail or ordered to spend the rest of their lives working in the mines. God bless y'all for telling these stories and not letting these folks be forgotten. ❤
Thank you for doing this one. Sometimes people take for granted what we have , how we got it. And the sacrifices that were made too progress this great nation. But this brings it all back into perspective, and it is so important too never forget the many families that were impacted by the loss of so many, entire community's shaken too their core just because someone maybe didn't follow the safety guidelines too the letter. Accidents happen but it's so important too make them as small and as little in number as you can . As this is a fine example of what we here in WV and KY, have given roo forward this great nation. May God's comforting hand be upon each and every survivor of this disaster and they feel the comfort of our savior , and it helps in troubled times when the memories come flooding back. We ARE COAL MINERS and WE DO STICK TOGETHER, we did then , we do now, and we always will. May God's grace be upon all who perished in this disaster and all the mine disasters from this one too sago, and aracoma, and upper big branch, Rest easy gentlemen, we have the next shifts covered. You've done enough, we'll take it from here. Get a bath and get some supper and some rest, you've earned it !!
May They Rest in Peace, I'm sorry to all their families I'm praying for you all God Bless . Thank you Heather and Leo for doing this Video. MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎅 🤶🎄☃️ Jan Sarlo
I lost several relatives in the mines around Pikeville Ky. Not only was the deaths tragic but not 1 of the mine companies did 1 thing for the family members, not even anything to help funeral expenses
My grandfather was a coal miner in Wilkes-Barre PA... he had 3 young daughters and wanted a better life for them...moved family here to Detroit to work at Fords and was killed less than a year later in a bad snowstorm 3 days before Christmas while hitting a bus and breaking his neck that foggy snowy night. Leaving behind my mom 3 years old and her 2 older sisters ...so very sad because his death destroyed my mom's life as she knew it
So sad, all those lives cut short for no good reason! Was it ever determined what caused the tragedy, was someone careless or indifferent to safety rules?
Thank you many times over for reading the names, and honoring those on the wall. Thank you.
