This was straight to the point and very informative, no long talk about your life that everyone is gonna skip pass anyway, just "Hey, here's what to do so you get it right the first time". Really appreciate this man.
“Hey guys, there’s many different reasons why you’d want to replace your interior days - and I’m going to talk about all of them - but first I want to tell you about Squarespace…” 😂😂😂
Thanks so much for this video! No nonsense with an unnecessarily long intro unlike 90% of DIY videos nowadays. I just had to buy a pack of chisels and got my door up in one shot. May both sides of your pillow forever be cool to the touch!
Dude thank you so much ive been messing it up for the last few times, heavy door with glass and the rain doesn't exactly help,so thanks again appreciate it
I only wish I'd seen this video (saw plenty of others) BEFORE starting and ruining a door. However, one door to go and this one should, and I use the term advisedly, go a lot better. Cheers from the UK.
This is exactly what i need! What kind of door is this? I have come across with the frame. I am trying to replace my interior doors. They are hallow inside(2 thin sheets) and want to use a wood door
Spencer White i just got done doing my door. There’s only so much at the bottom of the door that u can cut before you hit the hollow part. I don’t think you want to leave the bottom of the door with that hole there so he just cut the same part out on the old door so that he could close up the opening at the bottom of the new door. You could also just get a piece of mdf the same length and width tho and glue that in place of you didn’t want to cut and tear out the insides and all that.
The board on the bottom gets moved into the hollow of the door. But the problem he didn't show was getting the front and back of the door surface off to slide the board in
I still dont get it,,first he said he change so many door that he got it now,,,then ooooppss..and that bottom rail part,,i still dont get what he did..
Freaking THANK YOU!! Right to the point and no fluff. omg, I watched like 4 videos before finding yours and yours is what I was looking for. Thumbs up!
If you cut off the entire bottom rail and you replaced it by cutting off the rail from the other side of the door, wouldn't you be missing the rail from the other side? Someone please explain because this is the only confusing portion of this video.
Fast video but well done & learned how to cut doors down which is what I am most likey having to do the big box stores only sell selected sizes no in between sizes unless special order & then they trippple the price because it is the exact size a person needs??? Very frustraighting having to cut a door spending much time to get it exact size or one can be charged the extra to exact size needed makes no sense but makes much sense to the big box stores to charge much more for custome door orders..
Good question. If the door doesn't fit perfectly, you'll need to be plaining it down more. If you just spent a bunch of time painting it that would be time waisted. I learned that lesson the hard way :)
Depends on what size doors the store sells, my doors were much closer in size and had only to plane one edge of one door. The most work was painting the doors.
This was very informative btw. My first door I hung I used a chisel but then I found the Ryobi hinge installation kit and fell in love. It’s quicker but you’re right there is something about chiseling it out yourself. They also have a kit for the door knob hole and the notch for the strike plate.
Thanks for posting the video Cory! I would have got a slid pine door. Don't use Home Depot Behr paint. Have you noticed professional painters dont go to Home Depot for paint. Use Dunn Edwards, Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams, etc...
You kinda missed a step. Everything looked good but what about drilling the holes for inserting the hardware ie door knob etc ? I may have missed or something went wrong with the video !
Great video. I didn't fully understand the part about cutting off and replacing the rails. I don't know the parts of a door so if you could explain that a little more it would help me a great deal. TIA
The stock doors I used in the video are hollow, but contain a 1" slit of wood on the top and bottom for stability. When I measured the new door to the old, I had to cut so much off the bottom that I lost the 1" slit of wood, so I cut about 1/2" off the top of the door and used that pice of wood for the bottom. Hope that helps clarify.
Is anyone able to tell me do you make the home for door know latch? Or is that already in place waiting for you to only cut the knob hole in line with the latch hole?
I have been a high end painting contractor for a while but never done much carpentry work myself or often at all. I can do many things besides painting but it never installed a simple door lol. Thanks for the help anyone
@HotZTrain 0 seconds ago When I paint a door, I always remove it, take all the hardware off, clean it with Simple Green lay it flat. It make the paint job look much better. If you have trouble replacing one of the doors, Murphy's Law, loosen the henges on the door frame. That will give you wiggle room. I like to use a smaller screw drive on the top hinge, then pin the bottom two, then remove the screw drive and replace the top pin. Put some petroleum jelly on the hinge pins.

I went to your video because it was 4 minutes and the others were like 38 minutes or something! Well done.
Yes, it is a short but fully informative...
Hey me too!

Dude thank you so much ive been messing it up for the last few times, heavy door with glass and the rain doesn't exactly help,so thanks again appreciate it

excellent craftsmanship. Very clean and precise. Would have love to see more how you chiseled the door. Very satisfying job.
I only wish I'd seen this video (saw plenty of others) BEFORE starting and ruining a door. However, one door to go and this one should, and I use the term advisedly, go a lot better.

Wow! You made it look so easy. All I have to do is follow your lead and I can do it.
Thank You.
Straight to the point! Im doing 8 interior doors. Using hinge kit. Chisel it’ll take me forever!
Had never heard of a wheel marking gage, but now I need to have one.
Straight forward and still articulate perfect video!
This video is super concise and helpful- dude "gets it." Also, extra credit given for "way more satisfying" crack. Well done!

Thanks for the video. It will be very helpful when I do mine. Great job
I hope this video gets monetized... You deserve it!!
Fantastic video! Right to the point and very easy to understand. Thank you so much!
Can someone let me borrow a couple thousand dollars so I can buy some tools and then I can start upgrading my doors and other stuff around my house?
You were too the point with no wasted time. Well done from me.
the door closing at the end made me laugh. It's like he was saying "nuff said your turn" great video fam.
This was so satisfying to watch and learn although I don’t plan on doing this😂🤣
great video. precise and clear, thanks
Wow. Clean and informative. Thanks.
Awesome Vid! Off to find someone who has the tools and time to do it!
Thanks man..I was about to just wing it tomorrow 😅
You know you are in America when all you see is this door design in every house
This is incredibly helpful
This is exactly what i need! What kind of door is this? I have come across with the frame. I am trying to replace my interior doors. They are hallow inside(2 thin sheets) and want to use a wood door
I am a complete moron when comes to carpentry, this vid helped, if my father in law caught me watching this, he would probably kill me.
What do you do without a wheel marking gauge?
Well done 👏
So what do I do if there is no door there but there was at one time ? The frame is there and the cut outs for the hinges. How do I measure for that ?
What if you messed up and threw the old door away?
Wondering the same.
What is the best type of paint?
Thanks this helped me, hopefully my landlord wont find out
Great
wow
what you did with the bottom rail makes no sense
Man exactly! The whole thing is a breeze but I don't get that part at all.

Should have just used the piece you cut off to fill the hole.
I still dont get it,,first he said he change so many door that he got it now,,,then ooooppss..and that bottom rail part,,i still dont get what he did..
I went on a meth bender back in '84 and did the same thing for most of November.
If you care about privacy, don't buy hollow core doors
Instead of chisel use a router
MY GOSH THANKS FOR NOT TALKING ABOUT YOUR HOUSE KIDS CAT KITCHEN BRATKFAST SHOES MAILMAN...............
ALOT OF EXTRA WORK TO INSTALL A DOOR
Why not just buy a door that's the same size
Freaking THANK YOU!! Right to the point and no fluff. omg, I watched like 4 videos before finding yours and yours is what I was looking for. Thumbs up!
This is vintage UA-cam material here, no click bait, ads, sponsorships.
Can you please come over and help my husband and me he is destroying all of the doors lol
Lol You’re not the only one😅
Straight to the point well done Sir.
Doing the lord’s work here for those of us who have zero idea what we’re doing, thanks! 👍🏻
I am so glad you show the issue that you can run into and how to get around them. Great video.
I thought you failed at the end when you swung it to close. haha.
Why not just order the correct size door so you don't have to do all that extra work for no reason?
saved me hours of frustration and really worked for me.
Great video, simply put. And covered all the important details
This looks really easy, can't wait to see how bad I screw it up when I try to do it!
No BS info here.. Just the facts.
I watched your video twice, before and during just to double check. Best DIY interior door video ever! Thank you
Terrific video. Thank you, sir.
If you cut off the entire bottom rail and you replaced it by cutting off the rail from the other side of the door, wouldn't you be missing the rail from the other side? Someone please explain because this is the only confusing portion of this video.
Best installation I’ve seen, not A lot of talking just working and actually showing you how to do it. Not boring you with their words.
Thanks for your very informational video. Can you tell me where you bought the Wheel Marking Gauge?
Love you mijo
Great video. What is the machine name for reducing the hight(for plain the table hight. video frame position 1:26). Can you please reply back
the tool is called a Handheld Plainer
Fast video but well done & learned how to cut doors down which is what I am most likey having to do the big box stores only sell selected sizes no in between sizes unless special order & then they trippple the price because it is the exact size a person needs???
Very frustraighting having to cut a door spending much time to get it exact size or one can be charged the extra to exact size needed makes no sense but makes much sense to the big box stores to charge much more for custome door orders..
Why didn’t he just paint the door first..let it dry then install door..why install then take it down..
Good question. If the door doesn't fit perfectly, you'll need to be plaining it down more. If you just spent a bunch of time painting it that would be time waisted. I learned that lesson the hard way :)
There is gotta be a better way than that? It seems like too much work, but thanks for the ideas
Depends on what size doors the store sells, my doors were much closer in size and had only to plane one edge of one door. The most work was painting the doors.
To the point and informative! I would have only added a required materials at the beginning.
Well done video. Short, smart and extremely helpful. It responds all my questions of how to install my own door. Thanks
Thanks for getting right to the point! Super helpful!
This was very informative btw. My first door I hung I used a chisel but then I found the Ryobi hinge installation kit and fell in love. It’s quicker but you’re right there is something about chiseling it out yourself. They also have a kit for the door knob hole and the notch for the strike plate.

Thanks for showing the mistake and solution for the bottom of the door. Nice concise video and clearly explained.
Great step by step process and no BS. TY!!
Oh wth I can’t do that. Enter the handyman
Great video and to the point. I have three doors to replace.
This is really helpful! Thanks
Great video. Now all I need to know now is how to put a door up the easy way
You kinda missed a step. Everything looked good but what about drilling the holes for inserting the hardware ie door knob etc ? I may have missed or something went wrong with the video !
Thank you very much for the great video, I have learn a lot and going to use your way
Nice job. Thanks for sharing! Very helpful
Short and very informative! Thank you!
How long did it take to replace the door ?
Thanks for getting to the point. The perfect how to, new sub! 👍
Awesome work... both in workmanship and video editing. Thank you!!
You could have just left the half of the hinges on the door jam
Can anyone tell me what is the exact machine called to sand the door’s width????
Forget seal team 6, this guy is the real American hero.
You never showed drilling out the hole for the door knob.....
When and how did you bore the new holes to align with the old ones?
Well done! Thanks so much!
Amazing video - thank you!

@@corylshaw So basically the correct way to cut a door would have been 1/2 inch from
top and 1/2 inch from bottom?
Fantastic video! Exactly, and I mean exactly what I was looking for. Really appreciate you uploading this. And excellent editing, may I add.
Very good video, thank you.
Wow wow wow THANK YOU!!!!!
