It doesn't matter how long you have been a fan for. If you've been a fan from the very beginning, great for you. If you've just became a fan, great. It Doesn't matter how long you've been a fan for it just matters if you stick with them till the very end.
And so what if they've changed? It may be selling out to you, but to them it's showing that thy are growing up. They can't stay the way they were in 2009 they have to grow up sometime and change a little.

ive been on a ymas binge this afternoon and it's been amazing. forgot how much i love this band.
Do people realise how many songs share the same chord progressions? The world would have run out of song ideas years ago if you couldn't use the same chords as someone else.
I just love how Josh's hair is always perfect, no matter how crazy and all over the place it is. Also, I'm confused as to how someone so hot on-stage can act like such a dork off-stage.
I do not want to sound like a "know-it-all" but bands act crazy most of the time when there is a camera around. I do think they still have fun wether there is a camera or not but they act even crazier when there is a camera around

Honestly never understood why everyone is so butthurt about The Killers "ripoff" I mean yeah I hear the similarities but that's not what jumped out at me the first time I heard it. What jumped out at me is that it's a fucking kick ass song.

I always thought You Me at Six were a good band, liking their songs and enjoying their music but this is the song that made me stop and really get into the band, start looking up their songs and downloading complete albums and now I'm totally in love with no regrets. I'll see all in November ;3

Big deal that the first few chords sound pretty similar to another song, this isn't the first time this has happened with songs. There are so many songs out there that it's difficult not to have similar chord progressions. It's not even like the whole of the song sounds the same, it's literally just 15 seconds at the beginning. Stop complaining and enjoy the awesome song :-)

i agree with the fact that this is a pretty basic song, and if i was under pressure to write songs by the label then there would be at least a couple basic songs in there, but this song is still a fucking beast of a tune.

Bro, you don't know what you're talking about. A band that sounds the same every single track and record will die out so quick. Plus, they write stuff (just like any other musician) about life and situations they have seen or been in. They are/have grown up so much from where they started. Their change has been great throughout all their stuff. You're just one of those people who thinks every band that gets huge popularity has to be 'sold out'. No dude that's just their shows!
Every band evolves. If they don't, it gets boring. It is inevitable.

Why is someone knowing them for years so unbelievable?
Point well made, but saying they are a sell out really doesn't make sense to me. Change happens in every artist, You seriously hear and see it everyday. With society changing and all that shit, YMAS were bound to steer their music into a different direction. It was inevitable. They haven't changed drastically, they're still the pop punk/alternative rock band they've always been.
So what if I haven't been a fan for long? It's not exactly my fault that I didn't hear them the moment they decided to start making music together, is it? And how do you know they changed direction in order to sell records? They could have changed direction because, I dunno, they changed themselves? Maybe their tastes evolved, maybe they changed as people. I don't think you, me or anyone has any right to decided why they changed, and then to moan about hem, I dunno, growing? Being human?
I was referring to when they had to sleep on floors and in stranger's houses when they were playing their first gigs and things; I never said that I had to sleep on any floors...? Just because I haven't been a fan of them for as long as you doesn't mean I can't love them and their music! Their music has helped me a lot personally and that's what counts, right? For the people complaining about the chords being copied from The Killers: I'm not sure people realize this, but a lot of songs actually have extremely similar or the same chord progressions, often just in a different key. I don't believe that you should hate a band based off of one song that you've heard, but in the end everyone has a right to their own opinion on the music they like or dislike. Just saying.
1. I never listen to kerrang radio. It's not my type of music. 2. I listened to this on radio 1 and by my own accord I noticed the resemblance. Many people believe it's. I have a very musical ear and I'm a guitarist. I noticed the riff straight away. That being said you don't need to be a guitarist or anything to realize the resemblance. They're good songs that's true but It's too similar to the point where the killers could sue them if they wanted to.
You make a good point, but I'd disagree about the lead melody. Same scale, but different notes, it just happens that the root notes of the scale are the same (which is understandable), so it sounds familiar. But it's still a different lick.
I remember when the song first came out, and everyone said they'd ripped off Paramore. Now it's the Killers. I do agree that the two songs sound familiar, but they're both good songs in their own right, and I don't think they're too similar.
Although they do share several similarities (especially with older material) at the moment You Me At Six has better developed lyrics and more restraint/control on their music. Maybe when Paramore get themselves organised and release this new album we're all been promised similarities will reappear but I strongly suspect both bands have torn into separate directions. Unlike when both were still growing.
ok, it sounds similar to the killers, it doesn't mean it's exactly the same. there's so many songs and heaps more that you wouldn't of even heard. it's like original songs or chord patterns are going into extinction because of the growing music industry. it ought to be much harder for artists these days to come up with melodies that won't sound like another. yes, there is a clear difference between the killers, when we were young and this one, reckless.

blink are my favorite band and although i'm not a you me at six fan it's quite obvious that they're not even slightly similar. they're probably fans but imo it's pretty clear they aren't influenced by them. they're completely different genres. you could argue that blink were influenced by sex pistols though, with their "punk cred". sex pistols are british, btw...
That's funny. I remember Josh complaining at concerts, saying that their record company were being assholes. He told fans at concerts to go out and just download their records. That means that the record company wouldn't get any money, because there was no actual sale and - feel free to correct me if I am wrong - the band themselves also wouldn't receive any money.
MIA Paper Planes sounds like The Clash - Straight to Hell. Coldplay - Talk sounds like Kraftwerk - Computer Love. A lot of music gets recycled, so you shouldn't really bash or hate on YMAS for sounding like The Killers. It might be different tempo/notes, etc. But whatever, cause this song is still good! All are respectable artists, so respect.

And as a rely to me going to make a song, no, I'm not an artist I admit I am not and never will be as good as them but If I was an artist I would at least so some imagination rather than ripping something off, rant over.
