Gander is my fav loom since it released. Anyways the real reason gander is bad is because its move set is 70% support and 30% atk. But its fragile! Here are some buffs: 1.Stats: Decrease the ranged atk for a speed increase 93->103 OR increase its meele def by a nice amount (bulk up set real) 2.Moves: Wave wrecker ( it has hydrate so why not? It is just good in general), barbs ( its a mid support so this helps ), fade away ( ONLY IF IT GETS A SPEED BUFF ), Gnarly gash ( bye bye mind types ❤), drudge (optional, not really needed) Abilities: instead of compliant give it glide! That would make him a viable strong gusts member) Overall: Gander is bad because its a support with bad defense and mid stats, it also doesnt have hazard which is why I reccomand barbs) Or just buff its speed , switch normal type for fighting type and give it rogue assault ( please don't)

Honestly? All it needs is Guru, Compliant doesn’t really do anything. I ran the numbers, Guru barely even does 30% to max defense Luminami with Double Beat. Also, Guru stab Chase Down is a neat way to make Chase Down a move that something not named Umbrat can run.
It definitely needs wave wrecker, hydro slash or maybe even piercing drive in my opinion. I see this Loomian fighting on water and utilizing the water (and plunge just isn't good as it's only water move). Another brawler move like maybe quick punch, mega punch, rough up or swat (swat just being a "makes sense" move that Goswing could learn early on) could make sense as swans can really hit really hard (even though mostly because of it's beak, I'd assume it's wings are also really strong) and it could also be good coverage against metal and ice types. Lastly I think a not-so-good move but definitely a fitting one is eerie stare. And who knows, maybe someone can pull something off with it.
I would have an item type thing to boost its power like farfetched, bc it kinda can’t deal good damage I could imagine a crit boost item too, but honestly it’s just anything to just make it not so weak
A better strat would be to add an ability that makes crits guaranteed but reduces the crit damage increase so it would be a proper bulk up wall breaker but yanno
it could definitely use more coverage options, though it being a goose makes it thematically weird to justify why it should get like, electric or fire moves maybe give it wave wrecker and perch. otherwise maybe it should get some weather setting moves, but like summery feeling ones like heatwave and downpour although because its a goose maybe it could get the elemental biting moves, though that might be a bit of a silly stretch
Me and a friend have really taken a liking to Ganderveil's usage in doubles, which I know isn't the more popular game mode but since it's one of two fully evolved Loomians with Preemptive Strike it has some really nice utility. From a doubles perspective it's pretty good, but I enjoy the Guru suggestion that others seem to like, but I also like the idea of giving it Bait, since it would create an even better doubles niche for it than it already has. I wouldn't really know how it typically fairs in singles but this thing is pretty good in doubles already, so Bait for it would be awesome. Thanks for reading!
Okay as a Ganderviel enthusiast and someone who uses it on there team since it was released. I have a few suggestions, first Ganderviel is actually pretty decent as a barter user with boots. Only thing is Ganderviel dosnt have enough coverage to utilize bulk up to set up and sweep. Brawn boost would be a good edition making it scary after on turn. Along with brawler coverage nothing broken like rouge but like quick punch mega kick or rough up. Then some suggestions from my friends who also like the loomian (wave wecker, flaming kick, hydro slash, tear down, vital jab) swap ability compliant for (dauntless, boast, or hydro vortex for more offensive pressure)
Jamie, instead of it being simple and flying why don't you change it to fighting and flying and give it like vital jab or prep jab. It looks more like a fighting type

Dazzling Barrage And Wing Slap
I think it would be cool if the duck learned downpour, it learns moves like teamwork that allows it to buff its teammates so that paired with its secret ability giving it immunity to water attacks could give it a pretty good niche as a support in 2v2 rain teams, as Deludrix can’t really be used supportively in rain teams very well.
Personally I think Ganderveil should probably gain rogue assault and maybe change an ability to be more support based. I can see some enamor boots sets being ran

I think it’d be really cool if it got ability thief instead but that might be a little broken. For moves I think counter stance and flaming kick are probably the best options.

A possible idea to improve ganderveil is to give it tumultuous as an ability, raise it's range atk stat to a similar level to its melee atk stat, and give it typhoon and raging howl, it could be an interesting mixed attacker under strong gusts (maybe a little bit (a smidgeon, if you will)more speed, nothing over 100 but enough to make it decently fast in strong gusts)
There needs to be more people on the balance team to help you in cases like these where you’re unsure how to buff a particular loomjan out of obscurity
As you said it's mean to be stall breaker right. Why not give it Vital Jab? Firstly, It allows it to hit ice and metal types which both struggled against. Secondly, it allows for consistent recovery that does risk itself dying because it frail to an extent. Iaven't seen any player use perch on Ganderveil despite it's role to be a stallbreaker like it's other feathered friends (Snagoop, Zepholen and Stratasour). Thirdly, Vital Jab just makes looking at its design especially how it's wings are. Its feather a pointy like it is about slap someone (slap down) or make precise strike to the opponent's weak spot. Other than vital Jab, i'd recommend Wave Wrecker (Only if it doesn't get vital jab, because it will be able to counter all of it's weaknesses). Spite because their only 2 spite users in the game for the longest while. And Finally i guess Bag Of Tricks. It's wings is covering its body, maybe it has a trick up it's sleeves? Who knows it could be broken
Could you do the move changes anytime soon? The PVP meta is not very fun right now because of moves like Earthquake on Joltooth and all the other moves you mentioned. Also Joshuastar made a Ganderveil look fun and kinda good
Think I agree with all the comments, guru it's a neat ability for Ganderveil, and some great moves for it are Pilfer (Gander's whole deal is stealing items, it's a perfect fit! ) and Driving Force (he needs a brawler type move) Both moves will benefit from guru, and will be great coverage options, so Ganderveil can be this aggressive support-tech loomian that deals more damage than the average support thanks to guru, but it's less tanky and has no access to hazards Also reducing his R attack for some more speed will be great ;D
People sleep on Preemptive Strike on this thing. Especially with its decently high melee attack, you get one free turn minimum. Also it has pretty high energy so power cuffs makes it’s a little better. It’s currently on my PvP team and has won me countless battles

Give ganderviel a custom move where it hits all its weaknesses :> It would be a Melee Simple 60-75 BP 40 EC 100% ACC move that that hit's all of the weakness of the user. There is no after affect. Compliant makes zero sense on ganderveil whatsoever and it’s completely useless on it, it would do much better with an ability like burglar and it makes sense due to its lore. Moves like spite, fade away and phantom slash would also do it some good and they also make sense
A fun idea: change its SA to: pridedfull banter: this loomian boasts its pride indefinetly,so much so that the enemy only wants to use attacking moves when this loomian is on field. this can also meld well with its loomipedia desc! and lean it more into a offensive/supressive support (especialy with premtive strike + baffle) or what the people are asking: give it guru and more low BP moves
Easy fix for Ganderveil. Change it's type to air/water. Sure that'll make it the like 6th Loomian that's quad weak to electric but at least it'll be a new type combination.
U could give Ganderveil Thunder Crash that way it could give metal types a hard time and give it more offensive potential Also Give The Propae Line Body Crash and Give Banfino POM
Literally just needs Vigorous, it’s a loomian that can’t hit metal types but gets stab on an eventually 140 base power Ill Will along with being the only Vigorous user with recovery. I think the trade off of not being able to hit metal types other than with Plunge in return for recovery is more than enough.
Change compliant to an ability that boost damage in rain or just give it tumultuous also Ganderveil looks more like an Air/Dark type loomian Then an air/simple it's Loomipedia Entry also stated that it likes to steal thing which is perfect for a dark type
I think Outburst would be a nice fit, geese tend to be angry and territorial, and it benefits from high energy and its sa. Impersonate could also be nice (also gives Cosmeleon access to it through rally)
How to make ganderveil GOOD 1) Switch out complaint ability for somthing else (mayne guru) 2) Switch out its simple typing for dark (goswing can remain as air/simple tho) 3) Give it slap down and chase down And voila! You made ganderveik into a decent loomian!
If you change its typing to flying dark or flying fighting I think that would make it better, I also think guru would be good.... but just for moves it already has an amazing set really. I think the largest problem is the energy it already has an obscene amount of energy and its sa gives it more energy which is just to much for a loom that can survive long enough or deal enough damage to use that much energy
Make it able to use gale summon, cyclone slam and typhoon move cuz that isnt cosmeleon signature move and also change shakedown with a new ability that is a counterpart to guru ability.
What if you make tailwind-type support move? Although I feel like boh has already been improved with icigool, it’s still hard to capitalize it knowing that after icigool pivots, the incoming mon is already expecting a damaging move, which is kinda bad.

True but that would mean ur gonna run Clutch Plushy or possibly Cuffs on it but that’s pretty much it for coverage I can see if being pretty good as a baffle user with V nimble speed, but dmg wise just won’t be there for all those Heavy Hitters with Balanced out defense .
tbh, ganderveil should have the simple typing switched into a brawler typing, would fit it's appearence more imo and we dont have a loomian typing like that yet so it may be interesting

Why not make it weather based? A ability that gives it a boost to handle the Loomians that use that weather, example for Rain give it speed since most (by most i mean one) gets its speed doubled when In rain For Fog give it an attack boost since most that get advantages in that weather are very Tanky For Thunder Strom give it defensive boosts since most electric types are very hard hitters And for Gust and Heat wave... idk Resistances ig? Those weathers aren't really that good rn- Or alternatively just buff its stats to be a fighter or the perfect support, maybe give it a version of friend guard since Swans are partners till death, or give it a version of Moody or moxie since Swans are notorious for being unpredictable with they moods and or extremely aggressive Maybe give it a move like Revival Blessing, where it uses all of its Energy to revive a fainted partner and it needs to have 100 or more energy to use that move only once leaving the chosen partner with 1/3 of its health or 1/2 of its health

Ganderveil is not that bad if you use its secret ability while using v brawny, tender, and clumsy that would benefit with the rain team in double battles and holding power cuffs (recommended by Joshuastar77)

Remove Ganderviels normal typing, it really does not need it. Give it something like marksman and buck up or just give it some good attacking move. Maybe give it another signature move like one that inflicts a status affect if the the opposing loomian is of a diffrent gender (just like attract fromm pokemon) so it could atleast be a damaging support loomian.

To be completely honest, the problem with ganderveil is its ability, so vigorous or even fluffy from pokemon that would make it atleast viable
Guru aswell for all its low power moves.
Give it a signature move like hisuian lilligent victory dance but make it deal a small amount of damage aswell like 20/30/40 bp (base power)

Ganderveil would make very good use of Brawler Type and Maybe Guru to boost its preemptive strike set. A lot of times thats what I see people run.

From what ive seen, ganderveil is better used as tech/utility. If you cant spam premptive, slap down, and quick pounce, this thing isnt gonna shine.
Compliant makes zero sense on ganderveil whatsoever and it’s completely useless on it, it would do much better with an ability like burglar and it makes sense due to its lore. Moves like spite, fade away and phantom slash would also do it some good and they also make sense

pridedfull banter: this loomian boasts its pride indefinetly,so much so that the enemy only wants to use attacking moves when this loomian is on field.
this can also meld well with its loomipedia desc! and lean it more into a offensive/supressive support (especialy with premtive strike + baffle)
or what the people are asking: give it guru and more low BP moves
Easy fix for Ganderveil. Change it's type to air/water. Sure that'll make it the like 6th Loomian that's quad weak to electric but at least it'll be a new type combination.
U could give Ganderveil Thunder Crash that way it could give metal types a hard time and give it more offensive potential Also Give The Propae Line Body Crash and Give Banfino POM
Literally just needs Vigorous, it’s a loomian that can’t hit metal types but gets stab on an eventually 140 base power Ill Will along with being the only Vigorous user with recovery. I think the trade off of not being able to hit metal types other than with Plunge in return for recovery is more than enough.
Change compliant to an ability that boost damage in rain or just give it tumultuous also Ganderveil looks more like an Air/Dark type loomian Then an air/simple it's Loomipedia Entry also stated that it likes to steal thing which is perfect for a dark type

I think Outburst would be a nice fit, geese tend to be angry and territorial, and it benefits from high energy and its sa. Impersonate could also be nice (also gives Cosmeleon access to it through rally)
How to make ganderveil GOOD
1) Switch out complaint ability for somthing else (mayne guru)
2) Switch out its simple typing for dark (goswing can remain as air/simple tho)
3) Give it slap down and chase down
And voila! You made ganderveik into a decent loomian!

If you change its typing to flying dark or flying fighting I think that would make it better, I also think guru would be good.... but just for moves it already has an amazing set really. I think the largest problem is the energy it already has an obscene amount of energy and its sa gives it more energy which is just to much for a loom that can survive long enough or deal enough damage to use that much energy
Make it able to use gale summon, cyclone slam and typhoon move cuz that isnt cosmeleon signature move and also change shakedown with a new ability that is a counterpart to guru ability.
What if you make tailwind-type support move? Although I feel like boh has already been improved with icigool, it’s still hard to capitalize it knowing that after icigool pivots, the incoming mon is already expecting a damaging move, which is kinda bad.

True but that would mean ur gonna run Clutch Plushy or possibly Cuffs on it but that’s pretty much it for coverage I can see if being pretty good as a baffle user with V nimble speed, but dmg wise just won’t be there for all those Heavy Hitters with Balanced out defense .

Why not make it weather based?
A ability that gives it a boost to handle the Loomians that use that weather, example for Rain give it speed since most (by most i mean one) gets its speed doubled when In rain
For Fog give it an attack boost since most that get advantages in that weather are very Tanky
For Thunder Strom give it defensive boosts since most electric types are very hard hitters
And for Gust and Heat wave... idk Resistances ig? Those weathers aren't really that good rn-
Or alternatively just buff its stats to be a fighter or the perfect support, maybe give it a version of friend guard since Swans are partners till death, or give it a version of Moody or moxie since Swans are notorious for being unpredictable with they moods and or extremely aggressive

Get rid of Shakedown for Guru and ur problems with it being bad will be solved. It has so much moves that will be Super good with Guru also shakedown kinda Useless if it has slap down xD

Remove Ganderviels normal typing, it really does not need it. Give it something like marksman and buck up or just give it some good attacking move. Maybe give it another signature move like one that inflicts a status affect if the the opposing loomian is of a diffrent gender (just like attract fromm pokemon) so it could atleast be a damaging support loomian.
