Some places let you refill your bottle with bulk soap. The biggest cause of pollution are cars (driving and manufacturing). So anyone with a car can't complain about the environment. The way this conversation got so deep. I’m for it. So… when I was single I was team body wash at home and team bar when I travel because it spills in my luggage. Now that I’m married and my husband is neither a three pump washer nor a replace it when it’s empty-er, I use bars because he uses WAY too much soap.
I like high quality bar soaps like Dr. Bronner’s. I also like supporting small and eco-friendly brands that have solid shampoo, conditioner, and face cleanser.
@@Sheepleeater I’m beginning to think that different people skin, reacts differently to different products. Because I have eczema and I use Dove and I love it
This is funny because I'm listening to this on my way to the store to get some new body wash 😂 *Update* Josh convinced me pick up soap AND body wash to compare lol
I'm on Dulce's side on this one all the way! Body wash and face wash are the best for your skin and easy to use. You don't have to worry about soap sludge to clean out of the soap dish. It lasts longer. You can travel with it. So many benefits to body wash.
Oh man, they have these soap savers that I use for my bar soap! It allows air to circulate under the soap, and no more sludge! It's amazing and lasts for a super long time, and the bar lasts longer! Now for travel, SOMETIMES I'll buy a body wash, but usually I just pack a bar in a travel dish!
I was into body wash, but I am trying to reduce my plastic consumption. Now I am also team bar soap. In fact I recently got some soap that had a lovely lemon scent and sort of looked like big legos~haha!
Bar soap much friendlier to environment and lasts forever. Team bar soap and washcloth! Body wash is detergent. Shampoo is detergent, which comes from petroleum products. Read ingredients: same thing, but different amts and different fragrances. And detergent is great for hair on all parts of your body. I think that's why there were lemon juice rinses, vinegar rinses, etc.: To get rid of that sticky soap film on hair.
I use both! I do not share bar soap and use body wash for my body. I use a separate face wash. This was so much fun! Thank you for discussing this very important issue😝😙😘
My mother adds water to anything in a bottle. Soap, dishwashing liquid, shampoo. Fruit juice. Then it’s just a bottle of foamy water. Body wash is needed for the washcloth, but I may be kind of a bar soap connoisseur and collector 😄 Castile soap reminds me of my grandmother so always have to have it by the tub, but I need to toss out those gross leftover slivers if they sit in the dish too long. I mean shank daggers. 😁 Thanks, this is the content I needed to wash my tired brain this week!
My gran crocheted us little rainbow turtle drawstring bags to put the -slivers- daggers in, and we used it to clean the tub after the bath. Just the right texture, just enough soap.
I do it for dishwashing liquid like my mother-in-law. We set a little bowl at the back of the sink with water and a bit of soap. I was wasting so much before lol.
“Not everybody glows every day” “I hear you, not everybody can be me” 🤣 And the staring daggers of suspicion when she asked “what about other days?….” 🤨 Body wash is definitely the best option
Dulce, I am with you shower gels !! all kinds of “flavors” every morning its a trip to your senses ! When I use soap leaves a “film” on my skin that I feel all day, I use soap only if there is no other option. 💜
I was a firm believer in bar soap my entire life. I grew up with Dial. My favorites as an adult were expensive French lemon scented bars. But then . . . I discovered the body wash pump. I’ve never looked back. When I had been first introduced to body wash, they were in squeeze containers you needed to lift and squeeze from the top - each time. I would have to lift them multiple times for each shower - I hated the process. But then - life became wonderful with pump dispensers. I now have a beautiful bathroom with a shower insert with a modern stainless steel dispenser for shampoo, conditioner and body wash. I am never going back. Your episode brought joy to my life.
I tried a body wash once and it sank deep into a loofah before I could even apply it on my body... I've stuck with a wash cloth and a bar soap ever since 😂
This is user error. I've witnessed this issue before (in stunned amusement) with an ex who was using up my body wash "applying it on" his body rather than LATHERING the bodywash first: SQUEEZE the loofah several times to build lather then wash with the lather, not with the unlathered blob of body wash.
Method bar soap Simply Nourish is the best! Smells amazing, doesn’t dry out my skin, comes with no plastic. I laughed with Josh’s Dial soap description because that’s how I grew up too. 😂
Both soaps are made with lye. Bar of soap is made with Sodium Hydroxide & liquid soap is made with Potassium hydroxide. Also, If you make your own soap you can control the super fat percentage. A higher super fat will have moisturizing properties.
Yes! I used to make my own soap. Superfatted soap is the best. My aunt used to say my soap made her face feel like a baby's bottom. Another woman with severe eczema said that my soap was the only one she could use. It's very gentle, and the glycerine is not skimmed off like the industrial bars. Zum Bar is the only soap I have found that was similar to my soap. So, bar soap for me. I use a washcloth or bath brush. I keep the soap dry after rinsing it off. No plastic packaging! I don't even moisturize after using it!
This was absolutely one of the funniest, and informative podcast I've seen. Bravo to you both for the blind jabs at each other. It obvious that you two work well together. Please keep sending out that positivity and love. P.s. #teambarsoap😉
As a soapmaker I really loved this conversation. The bars and the bodywashes that are sold in stores are (usually) NOt real soap products btw. they are mostly a mix of synthetic detergents, fragrances and other natural or synthetic additives. I make my own soap (liquid and bar) an it is really fun to do, observing the chemical proccesses is very interesting (for me at least). I also make other (cosmetic) products and my own household soaps and cleaning products. 🙂 That way I know what goes in them and I can adjust them according to what my skin needs. When I don't feel like making stuff myself or when I am in pain from fibro and other painfull medical issues I have I tend to indulge on lush products, not all "natural" but they're my guilty pleasure(s) 🙂 Also, when soap is made rigth there shouldn't be ANY lye left in it.
Love this! We don't have constructive conversations like this anymore! I'm team bar soap. My reasons: 1. It's minimal, takes up less space and easier to store 2. It's easy to travel with (castile soap for the all-in-one shampoo/body conveinence) 3. Less packaging vs. plastic body wash containers 4. I have my own bar so there's no sharing issues. 5. Usually buy gentle soap with milder ingredients and some essential oils. I do think that public places and places like hotels, spas, etc. should go with liquid body wash to reduce wasting bar soap that never gets used up. I even just use my own bar to avoid opening up a new bar soap to reduce waste
Such an important topic! I'm team bar soap . I use two wash cloths - one for face, and one for body. I think it's gross when people rub the soap directly on their bodies with no cloth (bar or body wash). I'm okay with rinsing the soap off before and after I use it.
Guys are hilarious #DulceSloan and #JoshJohnson! Thank you so very much for taking topics that are so basic, and making them relatable and hilarious 😂❤😂😊❤😂
also, i found out that there's a scrubby pouch you can put bar soap in and hang it like a loofah from a hook too, and you can collect your soap shanks into it
I must disagree about how long body wash has been around. I have been using body wash or shower gel sense the late 1980's when I was in college. I did start with bars of soap but found that they left a film on my skin and left my skin tight and dry. So I am team body wash.
Yeah, I was a 90s kid like Josh mentioned, and I clearly remember using shower gel/body wash. I don't remember the brand. Herbal Essence? Maybe that was just the shampoo... but there was definitely body wash available at the time. :D
While I tend to agree that body wash is more sanitary, I don't share my soap with many people so I go bar soap for another reason - less waste! It's just wrapped in a bit of paper rather than a giant plastic bottle that probably won't get recycled. It's cheaper to ship bar soap than body wash, and bars doesn't use a non-renewable resource (oil in the plastic).
The seriousness with which these 2 make their arguments is stunning to behold! I’m 💯 team body wash, bar soap is nasty if it’s being shared. However. The downside to body wash is needing some kind of applicator (“floof”?!), and you don’t want to travel with those when they’re wet. So you need a clean washcloth at your destination that you leave behind afterwards. Not everyone wants to do that. But there’s my 2 cents!
Bar soap is only sanitary if you use washcloths! And please keep hand soap in your bathroom because I don't trust you or your bar soap! (Not you, the commenter, in particular. People in general.)
WHY is this the first time I'm hearing about this show!?! I love it so much!! Dulce is my favorite on TDS but this Josh fella is pretty hilarious too. Five stars. Also: Bodywash. Every time. I just use 1 kind, Neutrogena Oil-Free Body Wash, and three different cloths (Face gentle exfoliating cloth, plain washcloth for the private areas, Korean style scrubber for the body). Because my skin is prone to rashes and breakouts since I was little, and nothing's worse than Dove, Irish Spring, or even Ivory for it. Glycerine bars are better than most, but it comes back to not just: 'what if you drop it when you're washing your face and can't see where it went?' but also: 'what kind of nasty soap water and mystery hairs and dead gnats and such is it just melting away in that little cubby for bar soap on the shelf until you take your next shower?' BOOM! P.S. We must have been rich when I was little cos my mom got me "Mister Bubble" powdered bubble bath. I know I'm old. Shut up. But as I said, my skin is sensitive and I got irritation in my special parts so I couldn't use it but once. Mister Bubble was no gentleman. You were better off with dish soap.
The Irish spring part had me cracking up bc that was and is my dad's soap, along with Dial. I could not use Irish spring or any green soap bc I am allergic to the green dye. I did purchase my Dad the Manuka honey Dial and he loved that.
This is the first episode I'm watching and I'm sold! I feel like I'm just sitting with my friends having passionate conversations about belly buttons and laughing 🤣 love it!
I still keep the couple of exfoliating gloves that my ex gf gave me in 2006!! Of course I don't use them anymore. I just keep them for I still love and miss her. I left Africa for Europe for studies and we separated because of distance. I didn't even know that they exist before she gave me as a gift. 😅😅
Grew up on Ivory and Jergens bar soap. Then there were Dial, Irish Spring and Coast, the deodorant soap. Now I use Dove, Caress, Oil of Olay, and Camay (body wash too now).
I’m team body wash, soap bars get those cracks and fissures on top that fill up with nastiness and are always dealing with that gross gelatinous mess on the bottom from not drying properly from the last time it was used. I don’t care if you have a special dish for your soap, you know what I’m talking about.
Come on y’all, you gotta use both! First lather with the bar and then second lather with the body wash. It’s like using a clarifying shampoo followed by a moisturizing shampoo.
My head is like yeah, makes sense... My wallet, on the hand, is quietly laughing to itself cos it knows I have to pick one 😂😂😭😭 cos the way my finances set up... 😑
Thank you for the perfect study break! This is making me miss my dearly departed mother-in-law. I could never convince her to leave bar soap. She just couldn’t understand how to use the pouf. I always made sure to have Ivory soap and wash cloths when she visited. I am pro body wash, but it is worse for the environment. How do y’all feel about scrubbies vs wash rags in the kitchen? And Gladware vs covering a plate with aluminum foil? Just a thought for future content.
I use both wash rags and scrubbies in the kitchen. Gladware(reuseable) wins 95% of the time, only foil when it's sitting right there and I'm super tired. Can't help myself, I'm just cheap enough that I can't justify some practices. And I can't give up my bars, and antibacterial is a must for certain parts, to feel really fresh. I appreciate getting body wash as a gift, and I do use it, and the pouf, to exfoliate sometimes. I live alone so hair on the soap can only be mine or the cats.
I am going to say like in the movie "Radio" : I like both; Body Wash and Bar Soap! I hate when the liquid soap gets low, be it body wash or dishwashing liquid and the grandkids add water, which then becomes messy all over everything! And about the nasty bar soap, I alway's rinse the bar soap off⁉️ Even my own personal bar, which is the only bar soap that I will use! 😆
This was hilarious, I was team bar of soap as a child but as an adult I’ve put away childish things 😂 I actually prefer body wash lather to bar lather. Body wash lathers more.
1) this was hilarious. 2) Team both. But getting into the bar recently, but I use a loofah type item that you can put the soap into. They sell it at natural stores and at stores like buff city soap. Both options have to be made of the more natural ingredients route.
I use both. I use a bar of soap (dove exfoliating) first and use body wash (dove antibacterial) last. I feel that the bar gets me clean and the body wash gets me soft and smooth 🤷🏾♀️ sometimes I will use them together if I'm in a hurry
I was just saying this to my friend. I just feel cleaner with the bar soap but I follow up with moisturizing body wash. Body wash alone makes me feel like I’m washing with lotion.

Some places let you refill your bottle with bulk soap. The biggest cause of pollution are cars (driving and manufacturing). So anyone with a car can't complain about the environment. But yes, all things matter. But the biggest difference people can make right now is DON'T DRIVE or BUY CARS if you don't need them
I've had this conversation with myself so how fun to hear you all talk about soaps, I like natural soaps, no artificial fragrance, bar or wash
Cool but um what if you’re broke
@@mattysway4792 so you either live life like it's in your hands or..I live near downtown main Street and there are very affordable local stores but if not I've even email companies asking for samples and you would be surprised..they send you some.. opportunities are out there
Can I please address that due to the state of the world I have been watching this like it was NPR and there was two mature, professional, adults having a civil discord with intelligent arguments like before the world was a fast train on fire in route to a larger crash on fire. Thank you!
I'm definitely A Lush Girl
@dugongsdoitbetter you hit the nail square on the head! Why can't we act like the adults we are and have civil conversation without "woke" or "cancel" culture? The debate was fun and informative, the jokes were great, and mutual respect all around. Thanks from me as well!
Thank you both for gracing us with these podcast episodes. I’m following y’all on apple podcasts too and spreading the word! This is so needed during such a terrible time, a wonderful reprieve of black joy and laughter - THANK YOU!! ❤️
And has been around since before the 70's
Love a bar shampoo and conditioner especially when I travel
No lie about the Dove soap 🧼
Driest. Skin. Ever.
@@Sheepleeater I’m beginning to think that different people skin, reacts differently to different products. Because I have eczema and I use Dove and I love it
Josh "The soap resets! The soap forgets everything in between washes." 🤣🤣🤣 Dying
I believe there are a lot of viruses and fungus that can resist bar soap lolol
Just rinse the top layer off before using and it's new again
"...soap slander..."
😆😆😆 Oh, these two are _hilarious_ when they argue.
Love how the "on what would you prefer to slip on" argument (from 18:10) is gradually getting more and more philosophical! 👍
This is funny because I'm listening to this on my way to the store to get some new body wash 😂
*Update*
Josh convinced me pick up soap AND body wash to compare lol
Let us know your results
'Scuse me, I'm just getting my seat for the updates/results lol I'm *invested*
So Update...
Both serve their purpose but skin definitely feels more dried out after bar soap. Body wash seems to have more moisturizer in it
@@DevreyAlexander you have to compare ingredients some are better than others

I’m absolutely in LOVE this conversation. 😂 OMGSH I’m laughing so hard! And my childhood memories are so validated.
Rarely do we see such a nuanced coverage in journalism. The internet needs this!
Oh and after this I switched to body wash
I'm team bar soap. I feel I get my money's worth with bars versus a body wash.
I thought that was just My Momma😂
My gran crocheted us little rainbow turtle drawstring bags to put the -slivers- daggers in, and we used it to clean the tub after the bath. Just the right texture, just enough soap.
I do it for dishwashing liquid like my mother-in-law. We set a little bowl at the back of the sink with water and a bit of soap. I was wasting so much before lol.
Your mama is MY PEOPLE!!!!
I love, love, love listening to and watching these guys. Thank you for doing this Josh and Dulcé.
I love this conversation so much more than I expected. Dulce, I'm with you 100%.
Minus the suave!! Yuck. Team bath and body works!
Y’all doing the Lord’s work with this conversation. Keep. Em. Coming!! 😂
This is amazing - everything that I needed to hear after all of the terrible news we have had lately.
Imma have to use that one one day: "Not everyone glows every day....you're right 'cause not everyone can be me" 🤣
“Not everybody glows every day”
“I hear you, not everybody can be me” 🤣
And the staring daggers of suspicion when she asked “what about other days?….” 🤨
Body wash is definitely the best option
lol that was so funny and probably true
Dulce, I am with you shower gels !! all kinds of “flavors” every morning its a trip to your senses ! When I use soap leaves a “film” on my skin that I feel all day, I use soap only if there is no other option. 💜
Soap bars have flavours too and i have my creams, perfume and lotions or tea for that aromatherapy!Plus most body wash have too much ingredients!
This is the podcast we need right now. Body wash all the way! Josh is so mad but still blessing us with his presence
The Ben hill show reference 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dulce & Josh I love you both!! Sending you virtual hugs!!
"Soap juice"... 🤣
I've witnessed this issue before (in stunned amusement) with an ex who was using up my body wash "applying it on" his body rather than LATHERING the bodywash first:
SQUEEZE the loofah several times to build lather then wash with the lather, not with the unlathered blob of body wash.
Wash cloth is cleaner than loofah. This is cleaner and more eco friendly.
Sodium hydroxide yes, definitely NOT an acid, huh. Josh obviously failed chemistry.
2:18 "soap juice"
You know it's smart when it makes Dulcé laugh like that.
That is the saddest story of a bubble bath I’ve ever heard!😭
This was absolutely one of the funniest, and informative podcast I've seen. Bravo to you both for the blind jabs at each other. It obvious that you two work well together. Please keep sending out that positivity and love.
P.s. #teambarsoap😉
👍
I was all set to like your comment until the hashtag 😂😂🤣
Soap dagger helps shank the bacteria on the body…Josh and Dulce are too funny 😂
The two cutest and most wonderful people talking about the real problems of the world. ❤ I could listen to them for hours.
Bar Soap only, but it has to be hand made with real ingredients only
Love this! We don't have constructive conversations like this anymore!
I'm team bar soap. My reasons:
1. It's minimal, takes up less space and easier to store
2. It's easy to travel with (castile soap for the all-in-one shampoo/body conveinence)
3. Less packaging vs. plastic body wash containers
She just had to take one last jab at Josh! Hahahahaha
I needed this. No to the bar soap but the gels add to our plastic problem. Let’s just roll around in the grass and call it a day. 😂
I am in love with this. Please keep talking for all eternity.
This is so hilarious you both are so funny
Body wash with the pump. Absolutely ❤❤❤
"All you have to do is believe" lo Josh is great, I'm 2 for 2 on agreeing with him so far. Also Simple soap is the way to go
Guys are hilarious #DulceSloan and #JoshJohnson! Thank you so very much for taking topics that are so basic, and making them relatable and hilarious 😂❤😂😊❤😂
also, i found out that there's a scrubby pouch you can put bar soap in and hang it like a loofah from a hook too, and you can collect your soap shanks into it
All you have to do is believe, GOT ME! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I must disagree about how long body wash has been around. I have been using body wash or shower gel sense the late 1980's when I was in college. I did start with bars of soap but found that they left a film on my skin and left my skin tight and dry. So I am team body wash.
Same
Yeah, I was a 90s kid like Josh mentioned, and I clearly remember using shower gel/body wash. I don't remember the brand. Herbal Essence? Maybe that was just the shampoo... but there was definitely body wash available at the time. :D
Thank you!!! I hope they see this! lol
You didn't rinse off enough or used too much soap
I found an article that says 1978
I am 2 and 1/2 minutes and I am COMPLETELY here for this conversation!!! Yes!!! THIS is the original Versus😂
The pump description and instructions too funny 🤣🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭😭🤣
I love the seriousness of the conversation 😂😂 #teambarsoap
Hilarious!
And this guy is just so adorable, personable. And Dulce, always direct and on point!
Hands. I take ‘em everywhere.
Bar soap is only sanitary if you use washcloths! And please keep hand soap in your bathroom because I don't trust you or your bar soap! (Not you, the commenter, in particular. People in general.)
Please use a washrag or something when you use bar soap. Rubbing soap on your skin doesn't get off the dead skin that also leads to body odor.
BARS Repin, for that black soap in the African store, does wonders for psoriasis...idk about .97c, that soap will leave your skin dry-st.
Yes it does.
There is a body wash version now and it is amazing
You guys are great. I love this. Course if I see Dolce, I'm stopping, but the subject matter is so awesome. Fun.
That'll be a great story to tell to your grandkids in the future😂
Grew up on Ivory and Jergens bar soap. Then there were Dial, Irish Spring and Coast, the deodorant soap. Now I use Dove, Caress, Oil of Olay, and Camay (body wash too now).
I’m team body wash, soap bars get those cracks and fissures on top that fill up with nastiness and are always dealing with that gross gelatinous mess on the bottom from not drying properly from the last time it was used. I don’t care if you have a special dish for your soap, you know what I’m talking about.
This is actually a WELL THOUGHT OUT DEBATE!!!
About running out of body wash- that's why when it starts to feel really light, I bring a new bottle to the shower. Easy!
These two are a riot... muchas gracias!
Come on y’all, you gotta use both! First lather with the bar and then second lather with the body wash. It’s like using a clarifying shampoo followed by a moisturizing shampoo.
That's rich people kinda thing... We tryna save some money here😂
My head is like yeah, makes sense... My wallet, on the hand, is quietly laughing to itself cos it knows I have to pick one 😂😂😭😭 cos the way my finances set up... 😑
Now I know how everyone else feels listening to my coworkers trying to discuss anything with me. I'm so here for this...
Don't get me started on the kitchen dishrag vs scrubby debate! 😂
I use dishcloths in the kitchen and scrubbies to do burnt pots
LOL..."All you have to do is believe..." I can't with you, Josh!
💯
Semi-hot take: I use unscented soap/body wash because if you're actually clean you won't smell.
Loved it. Thanks, Dulcé and Josh!
These two youths are so upfront. I love 'em
I switched from body wash back to natural bars. But I do love a scrub!
Love y'all! I needed this completely inane, wholly, hysterically funny video this morning! We so fuuunnyy!
1) this was hilarious. 2) Team both. But getting into the bar recently, but I use a loofah type item that you can put the soap into. They sell it at natural stores and at stores like buff city soap. Both options have to be made of the more natural ingredients route.
"The soap got amnesia!"
I f***ing lost it.. 🤣😂🤣
I use both. I use a bar of soap (dove exfoliating) first and use body wash (dove antibacterial) last. I feel that the bar gets me clean and the body wash gets me soft and smooth 🤷🏾♀️ sometimes I will use them together if I'm in a hurry
I use both also. And I also feel the same about the bar then go back with body wash
Yes, this is the way!
I was just saying this to my friend. I just feel cleaner with the bar soap but I follow up with moisturizing body wash. Body wash alone makes me feel like I’m washing with lotion.
