  • What is ACC & Porsche Innodrive?! How Do They Work.. and Should You Option it On Your Next Porsche?! I have received a lot of questions asking to highlight the differences between Porsche's ACC and Innodrive.. how do they function what are the differences and should option it on your Porsche. The systems differ slightly from model to model... in this video I highlight what the systems are and how they operate! This has been one of the toughest videos I have had to film thus far as these systems are very complex. Stay tuned to the end of the video where I go on how to add Innodrive to your Taycan after the fact. Your Taycan will already need to have ACC optioned to add this feature either as part of a trial period or unlimited! See link below to add functions later through FoD! As always thank you for watching.... if you have any questions please leave them down in the comments below! See you in the next one!

Got a request,... could you discuss what Porsche recommends for battery state of charge on a daily basis. I only fill to 85% SOC typically when my Taycan gets down to 20-30%. Nice video. I heard you can add Innodrive FOD so long as you equip just the ACC in the initial build. However, looking at this video, it appears Innodrive requires a separate camera/equipment at the top of the windshield. Does that come already installed regardless if you select Innodrive or not?

    I did as you indicated, and pressed the mode button at the bottom (not at the end) of the cruise control stalk. That pulls up a screen where I can select EITHER ACC or PID. I selected the PID option. But the PID car icon remains greyed out (ie, inactive) no matter what I do. When I push the stalk forward to “set” the speed, I get a message that Innodrive is “temporarily” unavailable? What is that about? This is on a Porsche 992. Any help would be appreciated. Thx.

    • @Pcarwhisperer
      @Pcarwhisperer  2 роки тому +1

      I would recommend ACC alone! You can always try out Active Lane Keeping Assist and Porsche Innodrive later via function on demand (FoD). Where you can download these features and try them out on your car on a month to month basis or permanently add it to the car! If you didn't find the function useful in your day to day life no need extended the month to month. To be able to download these features later to your car you will need ACC stand along option so I would definitely recommend this! 👍🏼

      @@Pcarwhisperer thank you! I also can’t find good info on the LKA v. Active LKA. Particularly, what is it like to have the ACC or InnoDrive with the models that only offer lane keep assist (like Panamera or Cayenne)? Thank you!

    • @japansh
      @japansh 2 роки тому +1

      @@Shadowgram Lane keep assist beeps if you a leaving the lane without turn signal also the steering wheel vibrates/had resistance in the opposite direction. Active Lane Keep actually turns the steering wheel when the lane curves to keep you in the lane - in that sense is Active while LKA is passive. ALK has a limit how much it can turn the steering wheel, it works beautifully on highway where the curves are very smooth and turns are wide, but it might not be able to turn enough on a winding mountain road. Net net, I use it on highways and along with ACC it makes is almost autopilot.

    • @Pcarwhisperer
      @Pcarwhisperer  3 роки тому

      Great question! The brake light will come on when slowing to a stop or under emergency stop situations. If it is slowing down slightly due to the car speed ahead it will not brake but rather just ease off the accelerator to slowly reduce the speed! 👍🏼

    • @ThorsteinKlingenberg
      @ThorsteinKlingenberg 3 роки тому

      So since this dude doesn't know the right answer, I'll answer for him instead:
      The answer is: It depends how hard the car has to brake. If the deceleration is more than 1,3 ms² (meters per second squared) it will light up the brake lights. When the deceleration is less than 0,7 ms² it will turn off the brake lights again. This is part of EU regulation ECE 13H.
      As for emergency stop, if you brake hard the brake lights will flash and if you brake that hard down to a standstill it will also turn on the hazard lights for a while. The idea is to let the drivers behind you know (by flashing the brake lights) that the deceleration is faster than normal and you need to get on your brakes NOW. This is typical for accidents on the Autobahn. There used to be a problem with pile ups as the cars coming from behind drove too fast and didn't brake early enough to avoid the cars ahead. German drivers are very good though so they manually turn on their hazard lights when braking harder than usual to let the guys behind know. Modern cars do it for you.

    IMHO the problem with adaptive cruise is it leaves too much space behind the front vehicle so people keep pulling in front of you and you keep continually slowing down more and more. It may be logical but it's not intelligent.

      I'll never own another car without at least radar guided cruise control. My 911 GTS has it and while I attend track days and use it as it's intended, when driving to the track or other long journeys it's nice to just let the car keep up with traffic, relax and enjoy the stereo. Same goes for many other systems. On track I drive manually and in Sport Plus with PDCC set at it's hardcore setting. But again, on endless motorway miles it's a lot more relaxing to set everything to comfort, let the car do the shifting, and get there relaxed. One thing doesn't exclude the other.
