I dont know if I've ever seen worse feeds than they have... Granted spacex spoils us.. but come on, if you want people to be excited, give them good feeds to watch
It makes more sense to view New Shepherd as a test bed for New Glenn flight hardware and just getting the data for these flights and booster landings nailed, while also making some tourism cash to support the test program itself. Kinda smart.
I know I’m being petty but I wish Blue Origin would stop calling the passengers astronauts. It’s like calling yourself a pilot because you took a commercial flight.
@SouthernRotors These launches are a good way to get money from fools who have more money than they should. Also, there is still a scientific need for data from suborbital flights. New Shepherd and several rockets that fly from Wallops in North Carolina do that job.
The future needs to be full of this sort of thing… Congrats Blue Origin, congrats to all those pushing humanity forward in some way. Too many people destroy things… great to see people making things.
This is about half the height 59ft versus 106ft. And yet they only landed this thing successfully for the first time in 2021. They are behind for sure, if they can pull off a New Glenn landing early on they will have caught up but don't expect that.
@@MarkHorton-n3t I know, it's seems like it's been forever, I was hoping they would stick to their launch schedule for 2024 but I do hope we see those BE4's roar to life soon.
@@SouthernRotorsI had to check the name but I was going to say that the engines have been tested by Boeing , er, ULA on Vulture, er, Vulcan. Seriously it will be good to have another heavy payload launch provider. SpaceX will never be able to support a healthy orbital and lunar economy alone. Twice or three times a year from ULA isn't even a start. Rocket Lab is approaching a capability to launch replacement for orbital assets on demand but I don't see Neutron any time soon.
@@MarkHorton-n3t I'm hoping ULA will be purchased by Sierra Space in the near term, that would be such a big move for them as they roll out their test space station/s and they could use Vulcan to deploy Dreamchaser. In reality it’s a testbed for their actual reusable orbital rocket that’s slated to launch soon, New Glenn. Basically self-funded sustainable rocket practice.
The crew doesn’t land with the booster, they’re in a capsule at the top that detaches and falls back down to earth via parachute, while also firing retrorockets at the very tail end of descent to ensure the crew touches down softly in the desert.
a bit annoying that they give passengers little "astronaut" badges. lots of people have done the free-falling plane thing, it's like calling all of them astronauts.
This rocket will never reach orbit. But the New Glenn that they talked about launching soon will. The New Shepherd was their first step in rocket development, never meant to reach orbit. But the New Glenn has been their rocket to achieve or it with heavy loads. So BO made a huge step from their first to second rocket. We will soon see New Glenn and it's abilities soon.
@@JEBavido It has been a long time waiting. I was quite surprised by this public broadcast of New Shepard. BO has never been very open on anything before, so this launch being made public really took me by surprise. I was more surprised that there wasn't a second backup New Shepard waiting when the first one failed. Hopefully if the first New Glenn is successful, there will be more sooner than this. If course, motors may be a problem with BO having a contract with ULA to supply motors for their new rocket, which may of just received a go ahead from Space Force after their first flight.
YAWN! At the moment, this is just an expensive amusement park ride for rich people. "We're heading to space now", yeah, just barely and for a couple of minutes. When you guys can achieve orbit, then I'll pay attention.
They can't even get the terminology right, there's no such thing as "zero G" it's actually "micro G" I hope they continue the theme though and make the next one look like a giant butt plug 😂
The weightlessness in this case is not an absence of gravity, but deceleration, same as the way you are thrown forward when the brakes are applied heavily in a car.

What a show! Blue Origin, while not as sexy as SpaceX programs, do offer a niche market access to space. Let’s clap for them too!!
NASA and SpaceX use the metric system. Blue Origin use chickens and trees to measure ;)
Don’t fool yourself. They all use standard bananas for scale.
He got excited at touchdown and I’m thinking that’s it 🤔. I’m still watching different views of the Mechazilla catch

It didn't appear that the retro rockets fired.

This booster is about the same as the grasshopper, so blue origin is 12 years behind on spacex when it comes to landing a rocket.

You exclude also the BE-4 first stage engines I assume ? Those engines did help getting stuff to space, beginning of this year
