a legend from the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - 8 AD) wherein carp that overcame adversity and fear, by way of swimming against the current and leaping over the Dragon Gate, transformed into dragons. The story is often used as a metaphor in Mandarin to ascribe success and promotion to resilience and courage.
The performance is held in celebration of the Lunar New Year -- the Year of the Dragon, which is celebrated over 15 days, from 10 Feb 2024 to 24 Feb 2024.
