A friend of mine will be howling with sorrow after finding out these came out in september, when he first started looking for an mp5 as his first airsoft gun, but wound up getting a p90 cause the only thing at the time he could find that he wanted was a g&g mp5, and they were well out of stock. I have an ICS CXP08, love the split gearbox and precock.
I'm missing MP5K and SEF lowers in their lineup.
Looks like a super solid mp5 option, love the steel receiver and bolt handle that make a legit hk slap possible. Hope the front end is close enough to 1:1 scale to fit something like a Midwest Industries rail on it. Great, thorough review as always!
I really hope it’s close as I want to put a R/S Surefire grip on it.
@@BIGBIRDSAIRSOFT, those are nice too, keeps a little closer to original look but gives ya a nice light. I'd only go with the mlok one for camera mounting options as well as ability to add a light. It does take away from that iconic hk styling though
And ? Is ist 1:1 Scale? Does the rail fit?

I cannot stand pot metal receivers like on my or all APS rifles. They should all be steele at this level or cost.
I love that you talk about materials and type of metal the receiver is aswell as wether it has an electronic vs mechanical trigger,besides myself I’ve not ever heard anyone mention this detail in unboxings or reviews and it’s such an important thing to know.
I like the Cyma MP5 -6 style best and yours is also very nice looking too!
The ICS is beautiful but not designed esthetically as cool as the Cyma versions in my opinion and wow Is that spring ring loud! All that wobble and ringing is an easy fix though.

Ultra Collector Custom Airsoft thanks mate 👍. It’s a nick name I have had for many years. I’m 6’4” and when I was young, I was working with a bunch of guys who were all a lot shorter than me, they did it was like having bigbird around, and the name stuck.
So it’s not a negative nickname? I suppose you’d not own it as much if it were? I feel odd calling or referring to you as Big Bird though,hope that’s not weird?
Another awesome, no nonsense video review that is well worth a watch! 👏 Thank you for taking the time to give an overview of the internals as well - looks like a great mp5 replica, good to see ICS using their split gearbox commonly found in their AR’s in an MP5 replica. Regarding the stock, specifically the end cap that slides over the receiver - could the steel receiver be *slightly* bent onwards a little to make it a tighter fit rather than using tape?

That’s a lovely gun, I think it’s really cool how they incorporated the split gearbox, the cylinder head is a bit “what” as I was watching an internal review of a cheaper gun of theirs (m4) that had a gray double o ring metal cylinder head, then again it’s only a £10 part at most and I’m not the guy at the IcS factory that decides what parts go into what gun lol, also great review!

I got a Umarex VFC Elite Force MP5A4 last year and I love it though I was sad to see they dropped the 3 round burst mode
that the previous model had but it does have the Avalon gearbox and a mosfet which is an improvement. Unfortunately in the
USA we only have one choice for Glocks and H&K MP5's due to patent agreements here. I waited 3 years for the release to get
mine so I'm thrilled to have it in my arsenal it's a solid piece of kit.
Is there a way to order from other countries?
Another great review of an absolute classic gun . To this day the real steel MP5 is the best carbine I have shot ...so accurate and reliable . This version looks bomb proof and worth every penny . Glad to see you got a shout out from Airsoftology and I got a fleeting 0.5s of fame 🤣a s I was pasted on his screen as one of the many who recommended your channel ....keep up the great work I watch your reviews from start to finish because you strip these guns down and give an honest opinion and they are hard to come by 👍👍

A carbine is a long gun firearm but instead with a shorter barrel rather than a standard rifle or musket. Most carbines are shortened versions of full-length rifles, shooting the same type of ammunition, while others fire generally lower-powered ammunition, including types designed for pistols.
@Johnny Dong short barrel rifle ...firing pistol ammo seems to fit for me ....tbh
The Mp5sf is classified as a semi automatic carbine ...look it up....that was the weapon I carried in both solid and sliding stock version....so I am happy with its a carbine ...the other ones you can call a sub machine gun

Meh Meh the Krytac vector is really nice, and I sort of want one, but, it’s totally different to this, which makes it hard to compare. the one I’ve used weighed as much as a small town but felt great, real solid. The gearbox was nothing special, just nice I guess. PDW’s, I think the ICS is the best, which has the exact same function as this MP5.
CA Nemesis isn’t really in the same league. I really love this MP5, it can just be tricky to fit lights etc.

Thanks mate 👍 I’m not sure on the compatibility yet as I’ve not had chance, but I suspect there may be some modifications needed. ICS tend to do things their own way.
@@BIGBIRDSAIRSOFT that's a shame. Cyma furniture bits can be picked up very cheap and would add a lot in terms of modularity
The fire selector switch feeling like that can be sorted by slightly deepening the hole that the spring for the switch goes into to make the 'click'
or stretching the spring ever so slightly or putting a slightly stronger spring in it, you can do this with any gun that uses the same mechanism to make the 'click'.
I wouldn't do this with a brand new gun though until the return period or warranty is up.
This isn’t s actually a lot better after using it but the click on this actually comes from indentations in the gearbox and a sprung locator on the selector plate.
@@BIGBIRDSAIRSOFT ahh so it's not on the body itself, same method would still apply although i would only do that job if you are already inside the gearbox fixing an issue.
Bigg Gee you could, but after doing some run and gun drill last week it’s super smooth 👍 needed bedding in.
If ics made a sd version, it would sell like hot cakes, especially since it would be currently the only high end aeg model

Hey BiG Bird I just wanted to say this review was so helpful It actually convinced me to buy this gun, and I'm loving it so far !! I was wondering if you knew anything about the original three-lug muzzle piece. Is it possible to swap it out with an aftermarket threaded three-lug piece ? is the original three lug connected to the barrel ? IDK why ICS always uses the non threaded part, so annoying when other manufacturers like CYMA always use threaded end caps.
can you show us exactly what you did to the mag catch?
I actually filmed me modifying the catch, but the footage got deleted by accident. I’ll have to do an update.

If you’d like to know how to add a tracer or suppressor on the end of that style barrel extension/flash let me know and I’ll recommend you to a custom product meant for a specific m9 with a larger thicker type outer barrel and the part can be modified as well and will lock on to the end of the MP5 flash hider or similar sized barrels. I’ve got a g&g tgm mp5... don’t suppose the hop up in this ics version would fit it, would it?
@BBA The part is a metal cap of sorts with a threaded top that bolts into the cap and goes over top of the end of the outer barrel on an m92 A1 which is thicker than almost all pistol barrels.
The inside piece that tightens around the barrel clamps on and as you screw down the threaded cap it tightens the plastic ring which has a cut so it’s not a complete circle,it’s more of a C and if the outer or inner is too small for a barrel then you can cut a little bit at a time from one end of the C clip which will cause it to tighten more.
With the MP5 the tip slopes and had those tiny wings so the modding that needs to be done is to use a razor blade to trim off the start of the winged flash hider or if your model has enough of a straight tip then it will clamp right to it.
This is what I did for my ICS and the adapter will push or butt up against the Thicker end and tighten around it flush making it work.
I opted to use the Acetech lighter as a Tracer which is light and has an outer detent extension Vs a flush ended one with an inner detent from the base.
The lighter S or the Xcortech S has that half inch female adapter which would work great too but any tracer should work as long as the adapter stays solid and straight!
After trimming the C clip I can still use the adapter on other pistols that I couldn’t prior.
For instance I’m using it on the 18c right now around the Blaze tip.

Hey BBA After just looking at my ICS I Only had to sand the end of the outer flash To rough it up a bit but on my VHC MP5 I had to trim the flashes wings just a tiny bit because it slopes and is far shorter.
My bad I totally misread this reply man. I have no idea but even though they’re similar I doubt they’ed drop into each other,Big bird would know more about that for sure.
The problem i`ve had with all my mp5s are the selector gets weakend through time and use. You can pull the trigger and it will fire anyways.

Thanks for the support 👍 I’m really not sure, but it could be possible. The top part of the gb is pretty normal so there’s a good chance. I’ve not actually built an HPA setup yet.

Thank mate 👍 I love TM ngrs guns but the 416c is a bit of a faff with the PEQ battery box, and as for the mag battery 😭😭😭 the CES is great but doesn’t have bolt stop etc. but you can run real drill if you want without worrying about damage.
Quality wise, TM do it so very well but the CES is well put together and nothing to sniff at. The only thing you need to be careful of with the CES is the micro switches breaking. It’s easy and cheap to fix and maybe a bad batch, but worth considering. 👍

Hey mate, great review! You're the one who prompted me to get mine which arrived today. One question I have is what battery do you use? I've got a multitude of lipos in all shapes and sizes but none really fit.
Hi mate, thanks for the support. I use a 1450mah 11.1v nunchuck (3 separate cells). It’s a tight fit but does go in. You have a cell either side and one underneath. I put Velcro on the side ones to keep them in place while fitting the hand guard.

Karl Roadie lol yeah I know what you mean. The Cyma is still amazing value, and I’m keeping mine. Although I’ve just finished doing some shooting drills in the garden with the ics and it really is superb.

Where did you get your ICS MP5 A5?
If been trawling the Web and can't find a single supplier that has them in stock.
I did buy a JG MP5A5 but it was garbage, the body pin for the battery compartment fell out, the thread protector (and another 14mm CCW one I had) just slid off, the left fire selector fell off, the drum sights were wobbly, the mag didn't feed and just jammed the hop unit with BB's (all before trying to chrono it!) and when I got it to fire one round I got 104 FPS! I sent it back immediately and got a full refund, even the tech I spoke to at the shop said they were terrible! So why do they even stock them?
If you know where I could get that ICS model in stock, I'd be eternally grateful!

You can get a suppressor for the tri-lug adapter, I think it's the Gemtech Raptor, but they're about £80!
Thanks mate, I got mine from Fire Support but I doubt they’ll have stock. Everything is in short supply which I guess is COVID related. It took 5 months to get some gas mags from Modify.
@@BIGBIRDSAIRSOFT Finally they got a restock in today, only 6 though! I ordered one right away though, I'm pretty excited as I previously ordered a JG one and there was a list of faults - battery compartment pin fell out, flash hider fell off, thread protector on barrel fell off (no threading), left fire selector fell off, drum sight was wobbling all over the place, mag wouldn't feeed and constantly jammed, got one chrono reading of 104.5 FPS and more, so it went back for a full refund.
Excited for the select-fire optiions and solid build, I already have an MP5 Claw mount and an optic that'll look the business!

I saw (well, he always covers his face) the Airsoft Mike (I got it for free!) review and he doesn't know his a*se from his elbow (probably couldn't even change a rubber) and I couldn't stand his grating, irritating voice and gimmicky "Duke Nukem" samples, f*cking useless idiot that does all his shooting tests on a gun vice claiming he's such an amazing shot! UA-cam would be better without him.
So i didn't quite understand what you did to put in a stronger battery and i really would like to know but other than that i really enjoyed the video as much as i could because i only have acess to a semi only version because i live in germany sooooo. Oh yeah happy new year to y'all although it is a bit late.

What's the range on this thing? It looks absolutely amazing.
If you want a suppressor etc, you need to change the muzzle for one with threading, like ICS part MP-59.
Unless it's a three-lug suppressor.

Mikkel Borgholt it’s just a little slower on full auto. I should mention, ics say it’s supposed to be run on an 11.1.

Thanks I appreciate that. If you remove the catch, you see the blade that holds the mag in. If you get your ICS mag and measure the distance from the top of the mag, to the edge of the lip, them do the same for the Cyma, the difference is how much you take off. I’ll put a video up soon, as I’ve had a few questions about that👍

Didn't you say in one video that you have owned e&l ak? You could buy lck ak and make video about lct vs e&l vs sa ak, or just e&l vs lct ak.
I did, but I sold it. I did a full custom build and weathered it. It looked awesome, when someone offered me decent price for it I thought, I’ll just make another but I didn’t. That’s be a good comparison but I wouldn’t include the SA, I actually sent it back as it was so poor.

I used to own one of their older ones, well 2 actually at different times as I had both the SEF and Navy versions... really tempted with one of these as I loved my older ones and this looks great... now where might one find a KAC style rail for one of these? My old ones I generally had either the basic grip or the swat style flashlight... a railed version would be cool though.
Chris Walton this thing is really so good. I was going to fit one of the real steel flashlight hand guards to this but I don’t think it’ll fit. I’m not sure what will fit on these at the moment but I’ll keep looking. This is now one of my favourites.

Hi mate, me again! I bought an MS1 lower to put onto my A5 (switch it up a bit) How easy is it to remove the gear box / motor etc.? I know how to disassemble the body - Do I need to remove the selectors then pull the whole unit out? Thanks mate!!

How far is the maximum effective fire range? And is the non threaded barrel detachable/changeable or would one need to saw it off?
I'm planning to buy this bad boy but my problem is the picture of this gun in the shop that I want to buy to have a orange tip so is there any chance that I can remove the orange tip to make it more realistic?

HEY BIGBIRD. So I sold the cyma and got the ces p - so happy with it! As I've only ever used GBBR's I'd appreciate some help .
Which fuse should I use with a 7.4v? I notice it comes with 3... currently using a 25c 7.4v.
Lastly, what do I risk using an 11.1v? I'm reluctant to and to be honest, happy with the performance with a 7.4v.

Nice one mate, glad you got one. The fuses are usually 3amp but a 5amp is fine. If you are happy with 7.4v stick with it 👍 the 11.1v puts more power through the motor and causes a little more wear especially with active breaking etc. The biggest risk with the 11.1v is when using mechanical trigger switches as the extra power burns the contacts. Mosfets put all the power in to the motor instead of through the contact.
There is a ton of crap about batteries in Airsoft, and people will often quote the experience of a mates, mate who knew a guy who thought he heard about an Airsoft gun that might have failed when someone waved a lipo battery at it. Before you know it, it’s all hard facts! I actually ran an upgraded DMR m14 ebr for years with a 14.8v battery, in the days of basic mosfets, so it’s not the worst. Having said that, if you have a gun running well on a 7.4v stick with it. I’d say I use 11.1v batteries in 70% of my aegs these days, but I have a couple that will always double feed on anything other than a 7.4.

@@iSkateAlso no problem mate, the hop unit is great as it is but for effective straight forward setups, I’d say maple leaf barrel and a 60 degree macaron rubber with an omega nub. I’ve never seen a bad setup on these. My preferred combo is the tnt barrel and hop and nub but they can take a bit more time to get perfect but when you do, 😮! I’ve honestly seen stupid results! I think you have to get the cylinder ratio just right for these to work with these, I’m actually going to try a different port in my CES-P.
@@BIGBIRDSAIRSOFT others have reccomended the same, thanks once again man. And last question dude ... just come back from the range and noticed maybe 1 / 2 shots every now and then would just splurt out the barrel with no range at all.. almost like there was a huge voltage drop.. :/ any idea!?
@@iSkateAlso probably either a double feed or a bb is getting pushed past the hop rubber on the precocking cycle. Just keep an eye on it. It won’t be electrical, but could be something as simple as the bb quality, amount of hop applied etc.

Have you looked into fitting the G&P flashlight handguard? It’s tm spec. I’m thinking of buying this replica but the idea of not be able to fit one of these put’s me off.
Daan I haven’t, I was going to fit a real one but don’t think the battery will fit. I haven’t looked at the G&P one or ICS as I want a decent light fitted. Not sure if you can change them.

@@BIGBIRDSAIRSOFT the original ICS one will fit i was told by ICS, ive also managed to fit that with my old surefire 6P light. Not sure if any newer SF lights fit.....i still have the CES on order!

Is that an opened contact on the lower that leads forward towards the battery connections?
The mag catch mod, can't you just buy a TM spec mag catc instead of doing the dremel mod on the one on the gun?
It is an open contact, it is made when the top receiver meets the lower receiver. No idea about the TM mag catch but I believe the newer models have had the catch updated so there is no need.

Hi big bird! I ordered the ms1 version after watching this review and was wondering if you could help. The front sight post has a lot of wobble. Firesupport said they fixed it but it still has wobble. Does yours have any movement in the front sight?
Rob Aldridge mine is solid tbf. There should be two really small grub screws underneath. They might me loose or rounded off so they can’t be tightened. That’s were I’d look first.

Rob Aldridge that’s a real shame, I bet it could be easily fixed. If it was mine I would remove it and re-drill and tap the holes. Really unusual for ICS.

I really like ICS I have a CXP that I've put a bunch of shit in and I was looking at the PDW9 but they aren't releasing mid caps for it for a few months why they didn't drop the mid caps the same time they dropped the rifle is kind of stupid to me

@@BIGBIRDSAIRSOFT and I play Speedsoft and we can't run HiCaps, I ended up just getting the new SSS lower gearbox that came in your MP5 for my CXP but it came with a flat trigger which makes the trigger pull feel even shorter and along with the precock feature I can keep up with the high speed builds I run into all the time... Also the gears in ICS split gearboxes is always on point I wish more companies would shim their gearboxes from the factory and stop using springs like VFC because those springs are worse than just putting one shim on each gear like most companies do
Is it an usual MP disassembly or there are some tricks to get the lower GB out?

Screw a short ris on the bottom is the cheapest way,or ditch the handcover and get a railed one, magpul or mlok

Doesn't it have a problem with its mag dropping by itself? I just saw one of my teammates using this gun, and he complains so much about its magazine constantly dropping during an airsoft game. Is it possible to use CYMA hi-cap mag without any modification?
Hi mate, I’ve never had a mag fall out! That’s really odd. No, you have to modify the mag catch to use Cyma mags, but it’s worth it.

The lugs by the tip of the barrel are designed for a suppressor .
They are but the ICS ones don’t work as they are too wide (I have an mp5 suppressor).
BIGBIRDSAIRSOFT I see , as in the width of the lugs or the diameter of the can ? Could it be modified ? I’ve given you a follow rate your delivery style keep up the good videos

Question, with the gearbox set up as proprietary as it is, would you be able to fit a gate titan in there? The fit doesn't look right but I'd be very interested in changing the etu for a gate
achillies665 hi mate, no you wouldn’t get a Titan in there. Not sure if it would configure anyway as there are 4 positions opposed to the normal 3 positions.

achillies665 you’re welcome dude, ironically I damaged one of the micro switches on the fire select. Fortunately the board is really cheap to replace. Awesome MP5 though. I also fitted a TNT barrel and it feels like I could hit the moon lol
@@BIGBIRDSAIRSOFT Hey so I just picked up the MS1 to do a cyberpunk loadout and I noticed something of interest. The front flash hider screws off to reveal a CCW thread even though there was no visible grub screw, so you can fit a suppresser.Might be good for yours as well. Though in my case it was a swordfish conversion kit but just thought I'd pass on the knowledge. Also finding the S3 switch to be better than I expected. Thanks for the review, made a really good choice out of it.

The Nov full thrust kit? No, to be honest I’m not sure if some site will let you use them as they may not meet with their insurance. Until I know for sure, it’s not on the radar. I have however got a ton of upgrades to go in the SSG10 👍
just out of interest, how come you put a 11v battery inside and not kept the 7v ? i know you get more talk from a 11 but lots of people say that it puts more stress on the gear box if you use as high voltage battery so more service work is required ? whats ur say in this please ? Thanks !
There is a lot of rubbish banded around about 11.1’s. Some guns run better on 11.1’s and some run better on 7.4’s. The biggest form of stress in a gearbox is the spring compression. Whatever power battery you have the compression is the same. You get better trigger response too. The mp5 runs so much better on the 11.1 as it has an electronic trigger unit (etu) and this is where people get confused. If you have a basic Cyma, and throw an 11.1 battery in, you’ll burn the trigger contacts from arcing, and eventually damage the gun. If you have a mosfet or ETU of some kind, most of the voltage is directed to the motor and the trigger is just a signal.
If a gearbox breaks because you are using an 11.1, it’s a badly built gearbox IMO. I used to have an m14 DMR before the day of pre-cocking and I used a mosfet with a 14.8v volt battery, it never missed a beat.
They don’t work in everything, I wouldn’t put one in my TM SCAR as it doesn’t need it, and guns with very simple mosfets can double feed but as with everything in Airsoft you have to try it out. I’d never run the 7.4 in the mp5 as it just felt flat.

Everywhere I’ve seen are now out of stock mate. The last place I saw them was in France but they are out too now. When the appear, you have to be quick.

Only you can answer that! Do you want a steel body? 3 round burst, split gb? Or do a more traditional v2 gb build with a gate trigger unit etc.? The quality of the ics is far greater than the Cyma, throughout, and the hop chamber in the ics is on another planet to the Cyma, in fact they hop unit is the only limiting factor in the Cyma. Otherwise, you could change it all.

I think I'm going to sell my WE APACHE for the ICS ... always been a GBBR guy but after purchasing the CYMA, it's so easy just reloading mags and not refilling every mag or so.. ill eventually upgrade the CYMA but use the ICS as my primary as it doesn't look as if any upgrades are needed! Mind made up😂

@@iSkateAlso no! Don’t do it! The Cyma will burn out the trigger contacts with an 11.1v. Use a goo 7.4 with a high c rating. You’ll be fine.

This one is an absolute beast!!!! Even as a complete stock gun, it still outperforms other fully upgraded aegs, very long range and amazing accuracy at the same time. Probably this is the best MP5 you guys can get from a market. Compared to this one, VFC MP5 is just a piece of crap!

No it’s a standard nozzle, that and the cylinder head are the only upgrades I’d do to the gb
