Just found your video/channel.. great info.. thanks a bunch.. I just bought one a few weeks ago.. and now researching on winter protection, here in France, Zone 8B... Cheers!
Would a basic covering or wrapping with a large sheet of plastic help the palms, just to keep rain and moisture from building up in the crown to avoid the freeze thaw cycle to prevent spear pull?
Interesting. Your point about Spain is half true however, as places such as central Spain can experience pretty brutal winters. I believe it was only last year that Madrid saw temperatures of -10. Britain very rarely sees these temperatures, if ever, especially in the south so it makes sense that these palms are able to sail through winters relatively unscathed! Just a thought, great videos.
New subby! This palm looks absolutely gorgeous. How did it get on over the recent cold snap? I did a video on mine, I’m in Birmingham and it looks a real sad sight. I’m hoping there’s a chance of recovery!! Yours makes me want to buy a back up in case!
I do have a few doted about the garden and all have taken miner damage. The bid one in this video has same brown tips but will grow out. They are slow to start, but when they get going there are very impressive 👍

I don't see why not, as long as there is plenty of air flow.

@nationallyfunny They are tough palms but do need 2-3 years winter care, just until they establish 👍
What’s the coldest temperature this experienced?
I've had -7 once or twice and a week of -5c and still going strong 👍
What's the lowest temp it's been to exposed to? Looking good Jim!
Yes lowest was probably around -4c but it has gone through 2 weeks at -3c.🥶
Cheers for the advice 👍
No problem 👍

Hi, how big was the palm when you put it in the ground?
It was very small around 18 inches, they tend to be slow for the first 2-3 years and then they explode 👍
