When Ichigo used his Bankai for the first time (against Byakuya), the cloth of his sword wrapped around his arm in the same way the chain does here. His cloak is also part of his Bankai, like it's enveloping him 👀. In his Bankai form, the chain is just dangling off the tip of the handle, in his Dangai form it's hugging his arm, and in his Final Getsugatenshō form, he's wrapped in hardened Reiatsu resembling the bandages of his Shikai form 😮. It all makes sense now 😧.

The greatest power of Aizen are the mental gymnastics he's going through to convince himself, that Ichigo doesn't simply vastly outgun him as a ascended being. Aizen was Ascended through the Hougyoku, Ichigo was literally born this way. It's not that far of a stretch, that the teenager slapping ancient Hollow and Shinigami might get quite a boost after finally stopping in Mugen and figuring out what he actually is capable of.
