- Found this in my archive (and a lot more). February 1 2020 was my last flight on the Airbus 340, but I was unaware of it at the time of recording. It's SK984 from Narita Tokyo to Copenhagen. Hope you like it. It’s history. 👍🏼🎥😉

This was such a wonderful aircraft to travel in. I can only imagine how great it would have been to pilot. Thanks for sharing the old view from up front.
It doesn’t get anymore beautiful than the Airbus cockpit. Great video Captain- Happy Contrails!
As always a very nice video Bjørn! 👍The A340 is a beautiful flying machine as is the A350. But I still miss the red engines from the old livery, check at 7:04.
Too bad SAS never did bring them on to their new livery.
The shots with other planes in cruise are always the best. Very nicely done!!!
Thank you! 🙂
Bjorn you are a legend.
Fascinating videos 😎
Thank you 🙂
Always a pleasure to follow you my friend ! Greeting from France !
I like how you can see engines 1 and 4 from the cockpit
Bjorn as usual I really enjoyed your video! Thank you!
You baaaaaaack with our loved aviation videos.Great
I have more of them coming up. 😉
I think of these displays as some sort of high tech stuff you see in 80's movies, almost all green text and simple lines
Beautiful video as always Captain. It still makes me sad that you had to retire :(
Well, I might record a video telling the story about how I was "relieved from flight duty". One former SAS top executive wrote to me that he was unfortunately not surprised and that was about jealousy and above all incompetence. Interesting is that a few years early my takeoff/landing videos were used in SAS official SoMe channels. They scored top views, completely free of charge for SAS, since I was already paid. Then there was a change in SAS management.
@@bjornpilot SAS should learn how to do social media correctly and embrace pilots like you who make these videos. I would much rather have pilots and cabin crew contribute to an airlines social media than someone with an MBA degree sitting in a corporate office. They did a good job with the Just Planes videos initially but unfortunately did not continue. I hope you will upload a lot more of your saved up material 🙂.
@@bjornpilotplease make that video, it's sad but should be adressed
@@bjornpilot I honestly can't belive I'm reading this... The amount of free and positive marketing they got from this channel is enormous. They are making a huge mistake letting you go.
@@bjornpilot looking forward to watching that video , you should be glad to be relieved from working for those people who don’t appreciate what you have done for that company. I only learned about SAS through your videos and when I found out you were forced out I was very disappointed.
Nice video❤️✈️👍🏼

Love the air to air shots 🥰
Sad to the the A340 (and 747-400 pax and most of the A380) going to scrap.
Especially the A340 and it's -500 variant which quite possibly is the most beautiful jetliner ever built.
The 340 had impressive range/payload performance. Super comfortable too with 4 low vibrating engines.
What flight was this other SK A340 you filmed or did someone else film you?
I would assume that it was the BA 777-300, that you can see at 7:00, that filmed Björn.
The A340. IMO the most beautiful jet transport ever built. And I say this with type ratings in the DC9/MD80, B727, A319/320, L1011, and B747.
you do not have any of these i guess
You don’t really need to be rated to judge beauty, just an opinion.
Or do you mean from a flying perspective?
Looking forward to flying the A340-600 in X-Plane soon so get to experience it myself
What a fantastic video ... Loved the air to air shots!! When was this taken?
Given the cycle in the database I would suppose sometime in February 2020.
Correct. February 1, 2020.
@@danielm8393 This guy AIRAC's ;) well spotted
These kind of videos I like the most.
There is really nothing in this video I don't like.
Amazing shots omg
Congrats
8:03 first time see "福“ in the cockpit
hello bjorn, i am a big fan of u and follow u since the beginning! can u tell us, why u quit as an airline pilot ?? keep going and greetrings from germany !
I am still employed but relieved from flight duty. Maybe I'll tell the details later. 😉
@@bjornpilot If they search the internet they'll soon discover your comments. Best to leave it for now until you retire lol :¬)
The displays are so old the camera can barely register it. Also it’s so worn out with the lights and knobs. Super old, but the A340 would always be special in this community. It’s definitely a beautiful bird
Did you exchange footage with the B777 from BA?
No, unfortunately not
Did the A340-200/300 ever get EIS2 or was that all just for the -500 and -600?
Don't know what it is.
@@bjornpilot EIS2 was the larger LCD screens instead of CRT. Screens didn’t have rounded corners on the EIS2
Have you retired and/or quit or been fired?
I am employed with full pay and under the duty of loyalty until October 31. However relieved from flight duty.
@@bjornpilot why is that my man? Did you do something naughty? You seem so nice. Not like a naughty boy.
@@danbskyguy management
@@danbskyguy well he was fired because he was hand-flying the aircraft while recording with his phone in the other hand. I think it also happened in an airspace where pilots aren't allowed to hand-fly planes if I'm remembering it right! So SAS did the right thing firing him, can't have pilots flying planes manually while using their phone at the same time.
Sir can a non since student be a pilot.
Yes!
340 rubbish of an aeroplane so under powered
It does not matter since the mtow is 275t carrying a huge load for up to 14 hrs. Much more range than a classic A330. An overpowered aircraft is a waste of money and a 4 engined plane only has to consider a 25% thrust loss at takeoff. A 2 engined 50% so it has to be overpowered.
@@bjornpilot always stuck low because the 340 cant climb! Under powered. 2 vs 4 on an engine failure at v1 is irrelevant both are certified
@@elmin2323 you are forgetting the -500 and -600
14 hrs range. An A330-300 can not compete.
@@elmin2323 ‘fraid you’ve been outknowledged, son.
That ANA 787 said hello and goodbye 👋
Nice to see that other SAS 340
The 600 version is the most majestic and beautiful airliner in my book...
Love the A340. Comfortable in the cabin (even Economy) with decent seat width, and a proper number of engines :) Not one of these overgrown modern twins...
Haha why do you hate them , if i may ask
@@jostmathe I'm fine with a twin (A320 for example) on a domestic flight. On a long over-ocean flight, for example Auckland to Rarotonga, at some point the progress map in the seat back shows two dots with numbers in the hundreds and names I've never heard of. And then it occurs to me that these names of tiny unknown atolls are the nearest bit of land and the number is how many kilometres we'd have to fly on one engine if the fire goes out...
So, statistics notwithstanding, I'm happier with four engines.
The other problem with some modern twins is, they cram too many seats in. The 787 has a foot extra width over the A330/340 - which would be good, in 2-4-2 seating like the 340, but the airlines have a fit of the greeds and use it to cram in 3-3-3 (almost all of them).
The new A350 is truly nice and all, but there's simply nothing like the A340; it's such a good looking and soulful aircraft that served SAS well. Will sorely miss it.
Great to see you doing what you’re best at, amazing office👍
sad to see the 4x incredible CFM APUs retire
I used to work for SAS at LHR. Between 1996 and 2006. Was a great company but changed a lot after 9/11.
Did you ever fly short haul for SAS?
Great videos - I love them!
Blessings
This is kinda sad... I really love the A340 and I enjoyed watching your videos flying it.
Ditto.
In a way yes. But I have to be happy because I have a good time now beeing able to show you some archive videos. More is coming up. 😉👌🏼🎥
@@bjornpilot Keep them coming. I really enjoy watching your content. You're a great storyteller and editor 😀🍀
I remember being on the last flight of an Air Canada A340 years ago. I really liked that plane! Thanks Bjorn for sharing. Cheers from CYYB.
Thank you! Take care! 👍🏼😉
Hope to see you flying soon on a commercial jet again. God bless and stay safe.
Hello Mate, the A340 is my favorite airbus. Maybe you get the opportunity to fly the A346 once, which is quite larger than the A343 :)
I wish you a really nice day.
One of my favourites, comfortable and quiet.
Love A340. Nice aircraft! Thanks for posting
My second time to enjoy your shot👍
5:13 Why is the plane's instrument panel light is yellowish? Visual comfort ?
Don't know. Naybe the camera or light from outside?
nice video captain...i can only imagine just sit in the cockpit and been to pilot. Thank you for the video and love from Malaysia🇲🇾
well done captain, good luck!
The shot of that British airways plane was so clear it almost looked like a promotional video they would release themselves
Varför sluta me de måste ju va mer intressant änn flyga el propeller
Awesome video, great filming. Love the A340!
Tack så mychet. Loved the views with the other planes. Jitta bra.
Have a safe flight Captain to you and your crew. 👍👍👍👍👍
That's quite sad, the A340 is an amazing plane :(
Tokyos flygplats är rätt cool med den där bondgården mitt i alltihopa som ej flyttat på sig.
Ja, det är märkligt 😂
Good job. Thanks and good Luck
Hi Bjorn. I have a bit of a more technical question to ask. I have now flown a couple of times with the ToLiss A340-600 in X Plane 11 and one of the things I have noticed and is also verified by the FCOM for the A346, is that the seat belt auto switch comes on either when the slats are extended or the gear is down. My question is: When is that auto function useful?
Always because in the auto position, the seat belt sign the comes on in case of decompression. 🙂
@@bjornpilot So, would a viable procedure be to set the sign to "On" after fueling/before taxiing, then set it to "Auto" when at a suitable altitude (around 10.000 foot), then "On" again when descending (around 10.000 foot) and then finally "Off" at the gate?
Bra jobba Bjørn!
Nice video! ✈
Nice one! 👍
Attractive !
best of luck ☀️⭐🌟👍
Hi Capt very nice video moment of dream.
Witch plane you gonna fly after the A340?
I only fly small planes now, but after the A340 I flew A330 and A350. 👍🏼🙂
Quite a shame to see them retired despite being recently fitted with new seats consistent to that on the A330.
❤️
Really enjoy watch your video. Appreciate your share it with us.
Thank you! 🙂
Also airport at 3:26 is Narita? Saw the RJAA + TETRA in the ND.
Yes, it's RJAA
Super!
This airframe was scrapped in 11/2020 :-(.
Yes. 😥
Bland mycket dårskap RG tog sig för, tar dock priset av att skota alla A340. Åtminstone 4 av dem hade en ekonomisk återstående livslängd av minst 5 år. RG borde ha pris i ekonomisk och ledarskapsdårskap!
Truly superb photography!A♠️A♠️
Thank you! 🙏🏼😊
Nice video, out of interest which do you prefer, the A340 or A350?
The A350 simply because it's more modern. The A340 was more comfortable and had much less range issues than a 330.
@@bjornpilot ye I was going to say that A340 seems for big and comfortable.
What you upto these days?
New job yet?
No, retired from airline flying even if I'm employed until October 31. Have many other projects. 😉👍🏼
Saknar du inte detta?
Bara ibland. 🙂
Awesome! Lovely video!
Thank you!
7:15 where was that company 340 headed to?
To Copenhagen
@@bjornpilot
Where did the other flight originated from if I may ask?
Thanks for the wonderful and insightful videos!
What happened to this big bird?
Scrapped. It was a very capable plane, taking a huge load a long distance.
Scrap 😢
Feeling bad ☹️
I’m curious to know whether you have any personal views on ATC such as where you can typically find the rudest (one would think of NYC) and the most professional etc ?
I think they are very friendly everywhere. Absolutely in New York considering it's so busy there. I have 2 videos coming up ahead, from New York departures.
make a video about your family🙏
Beautiful video of the ANA 787!
Quick question, Bjorn. In the flying world, do pilots consider even taking a higher dose of anti oxidants (supplements) because the radiation received over a long period of time (long flight career) is much higher than the average human?
No, we are just eating normal healthy food. 🥦🍅🍊
