Also, Dark Hardcore, as sometimes things can lean more towards Doom or Post Metal, as opposed to Black Metal. (Also, are Sludgecore, Death & Roll and Black & Roll too steep into the Metal spectrum already?)
hearing UK82 right after post hardcore was a breath of fresh air lol I like Death Side but have never heard of Burning Spirits this also makes me think about how much we owe to hardcore for so many genres
Thanks for this! I’m a Metal-Head who’s really starting to get into punk as well (Especially PowerViolence with bands like Extortion and also Ceremony’s old stuff). It took me almost a year and a half to learn all the Metal genres. Because of how much I enjoy Music History/Theory, it was fun. I noticed Punk had a lot less but I didn’t know what they all sounded like/ song examples of each genre. 🤘 Edit: I did not know that Metalcore, Beatdown, Ect. (Metal x Punk crossovers were in this too) Metalcore and Groove Metal are my favorite metal genres!
Great compilation, missed Straight Edge Hardcore ás it was played by bands like Unbroken, Chokehold, Strain, Earth Crisis, Undertow, Culture, Morning Again, Canon and so on. But this can be also put like Disembodied and bands like Deadguy and Botch in Old Metalcore. Also Political Hardcore is missing like Groundwork or Born Against but Hardcore was mostly political. So very good job done!
Ska Punk is Punk Rock with Ska, then there is Skacore which is Ska with Hardcore Punk, while Crack rock stedy would be more aggressive Skacore influenced by Crust Punk.
yeah to echo what some said about missing "straight edge hardcore", you could also add in the same vein "youthcrew" like champion and "posicore" like good clean fun
There is a sub genre that should be added- Rock n Roll Hardcore Punk- Bands: Annihilation Time, Inepsy, Lazy Dogs, Pink Mist, Char-Man, Blasting Concept
There is so much more variety and important bands within Metalcore. Also calling ETID "modern" is an odd choice. They might have pioneered modern metalcore with Underoath, but they were doing it decades ago. Modern changes with time. I would say modern metalcore would be Knocked Loose, Counterparts, Khubli Khan, Jesus Piece, etc.

so i need help finding music.. I've been looking for something like if Joji did a song with old school BMTH. like of Nirvana wrote Nevermind in 2023. like lofi or SoundCloud rap but with nasty metalcore breakdowns. like if Hybrid Theory were a collab between JuiceWRLD and Beartooth. I found blackgaze (Rosetta, City of Caterpillar, DeafHeaven) and that rocks but irs not melodic enough. I like 5th wave emo but its not heavy and crunchy enough. basically I need Punk goes Pop 11 any suggestions????
Good list, but you failed to mention the band that Literally coined the phrase "Skacore" - the Mighty Mighty Bosstones! And what about KrishnaCore or Straight Edge??

Yes, I considered those that are born from Hardcore itself, or have a lot of connection with it, as is the case with fusions. Others I did not take into account because they are subgenres of subgenres.
Ah. Hardcore punk is the genre that gives birth to “emo”. It’s kinda funny how a bunch of hardcore punk bands from Washington D.C who have developed a style that morphs into something that is so melodic, and sentimental. Oh, the irony. 😆
that was one very weird long song
No kidding, I' was watching this video in my friend's place and he thought, that I' was listening one, long, weird, avant-garde punk song 😂
That’s unfortunate that they sound so similar :/
I like the sound tho
i would add blackened hardcore, chaotic hardcore and mathcore
Also, Dark Hardcore, as sometimes things can lean more towards Doom or Post Metal, as opposed to Black Metal. (Also, are Sludgecore, Death & Roll and Black & Roll too steep into the Metal spectrum already?)

Where are Agnostic Front,Cro Mags and Sick of it All? They are the classic NYC HC Bands.

ive always loved the sheer balls to the walls insanity of thrashcore and powerviolence. early dri is just awesome.
I glad to see Minor Threat
So many bands that I have so much love for.

Not including biohazard and madball in the new York hardcore slide should be a crime

pop punk was born out of hardcore bands
For real, pop punk should be here
Easy core should be In there too.
Pop punk was born out of hardcore bands =/= pop punk is hardcore.
Ummm…..nope. Not really, because pop punk was already its own genre that was a hybrid of 2 genres. So, therefore, it didn’t come from hardcore punk.
this person probably thinks that the ramones are pop punk so probably not
Bueno contenido bro 🤘🏼
gracias.
beatdown's prolly my favourite tbh
modern hardcore punk and it's bands that popped off 20 years ago LFG

you also missed post melodic blackened nucore
Uk82 for life!
rip the germs rip Derby Crash

jazzcore?
Where would Fugazi go?
Classic Post-Hardcore.

where is Youth of Today? It's a classic NYHC
Some of them are pretty crapcore but thanks for compiling! There are some great ones after all
Where tf is skramz ?
isn't crossover trash a subgener of Trash Metal? And isn't Modern Metalcore just Hardcore Metal? and wher is Knockedloose?
Crossover can be considered a sub genre of both Hardcore and Thrash. Some bands lean a little more one way or the other but fit fine in crossover
h8000
The Exploited ??
They do have a few records which could be classified as HC.
Included under UK82 which is exactly right , They were frequently described as hardcore punk back in 82 and their sound has only got heavier since.
Крэк рокстеди- лучшее, что придумало человечество

Sex pistols - Not hardcore.
Hardcore has already gone beyond punk and become more mainstream. The prefix "punk" can be called redundant.

Much better than metal

no

And what about Hatecore? That would be at least more appropriate than grindcore, because grindcore and hardcore are two different pairs of galoshes...
Could you give examples?
Emotional hc. Very gender. Vomit the soul.
that is pretty dumb
