- This is the story of a Commodore SX-64 that was literally found in a barn. Cracking the case revealed lots of mouse pee, debris and rust. After a fair amount of work, it's back and fully functional.

One really has to pull his hat for this giant amount of work. Thank you!
I wonder where that barn was located for this find? Many decades ago I donated a trailer load, (big trailer) of my commodore collection which included three working and restored sx-64s. Many c-64s vics and lots of drives cassets and tons of original gamed, some still new in the boxes. If it were anywhere close to Modoc Indiana this was probably at one time my sx-64. The collector was a very active computer collector of all brands but liked the commodores. He was also a member of a local C-64 users club. Enjoy!
You really but a lot of work into this machine for your friend.
Well... I had a comment and I guess UA-cam didn't like it. Long story short... great restoration video. I went through a similar process last year with an SX-64 that was stored in an unlined shed near the ocean. The I/O PCB was damaged beyond repair so I (together with a PCB engineer) created a replica. Other mods were fitted like a LCD screen (and powered speaker), JiffyDOS, a dual color power/activity LED in the floppy drive and I had the chassis electroplated in gold zinc. Spent way too much money but I've ended up with a very nice machine.
That sounds very cool. I’d love to see some pics of that one.
@@thecommodoreroom4554 It was a rather long restoration. I did try to post some information where you could find my photos without actually posting links... and UA-cam deleted the comment again. Sorry, but if you are interested you'll have to do your own searching. UA-cam comment AI bots are just too draconian. I can't see any other way to communicate with you other than the UA-cam comments... sorry.
Storing technology in barns. It’s been known to happen the world over. With varying results of disintegration. 🤔
Do you happen to have extra parts cases for these? Mine is missing the top cover to be complete. Thanks!
Unfortunately, I do not. If I happen to come across one, I will let you know.
@@thecommodoreroom4554 thank you!
Dont know if you found a top cover yet but I did see one for sale on ebay about the time this video was posted.
@@kingforaday8725 shoot, i think i missed that one. Thanks though!
