    Wow, that no ID phal definitely has either schilleriana and/or stuartiana. What a lucky find! Beautiful!

      Thank you! I agree with you, someone else also mentioned the stuartiana.

    Beautiful orchids, i really wish i had that phalaenopsis :) keep up the good work. 👌Most People only grow orchids for the flowers, but I do for the plant itself..only got phalaenopsis atm but I wan Vandas and bulbophyllums as well.

      If anyone figures out an ID I'll let you know! But i wouldn't count on it. Complex hybrid phalaenopsis are borderline impossible to accurately identify. I have only one bulbophyllum, and it's struggling so far. But I would like to try my hand at some others in case this is just a difficult individual! I love the look of vandas, but there is no way I could keep up with bare rooted culture.

    Pretty blooms! I like your c.wine delight , especially that it has bloomed two times for you, it has earned her place in your collection. I had a small one but after flowering, due to early watering I killed it. Thanks for sharing and happy growing. I see your oncidium is in leca media, how is it doing?

      It has definitely earned a place in my collection, more then any other orchid! I'm sorry to hear that yours didn't make it.
      My oncidium is doing alright, as you can see! It has been set back by being placed in LECA (you could see the smaller bulb) but it sent out a decent root network and it's recovering well.

    Beautiful Phalaenopsis PhalPal. I can’t wait to get exotic Phalaenopsis like you. America Phalaenopsis sucks seriously. I wish we could buy from overseas vendors. Thank you for sharing and Happy Growing from your PhalPal Durrell ❤️❤️🇺🇸🙏🏿

      I hope that you find the phalaenopsis that you're looking for! And if you can't, then perhaps your one solution could be importing flasks... But that would take quite some determination and patience!

    Your Twinkle is smaller than either of mine and looks, like my white one when I bought it, as if it's dehydrated. The new growths on mine developed quite quickly but only gave me one spike per bulb. Some people get two. It didn't take long for both plants to push out more growths and they're developing well once more. The roots are not long on Twinkles and I found, in a recent videoed repot, that the medium in the bottom of the pot was staying wet. I have half-filled their pots with plain medium bark to improve drainage and used a more water-retentive medium above that.

      Mine was nice and plump until it began to flower, so i really think that it just bit off far more than it can chew. On the other hand, I cut the spikes about 4 weeks ago and it doesn't seem to be plumping up, or doing anything at all, really 🤔 are yours doing better now?

      @@OrchidNerd once it put some new roots down the very flat psbs on the white one plumped up and stayed like that. The red one didn't dehydrate but didn't do as well as the white one. Its roots were not great it turns out but it's got new growths so it should push on. As I wrote earlier, the roots are only about 30mm long so it's very eady to overpot them.

      Yeah I've noticed on mine as well that the roots don't reach very far into the pot! I was wondering about that. Good to know that it might be a generic thing rather than something wrong with my culture.

    Twinkles are notorious slow bloomers, takes months before they open (and put it on a mount grows way better, just water every second day 😁

    • @OrchidNerd
      @OrchidNerd  4 роки тому

      Haha I could never keep up with that watering demand! Plus it's so dry here, I'd probably need to water it twice a day, really... But slow bloomers indeed 😩

      @@OrchidNerd I'm busy experimenting with a self watering mount, for those who don't have time for mounts and want plants that need mounts 😁

    If the catasetum bulb feels dry and hard you can leave it, if it feels wet and soft it's rotting

    • @OrchidNerd
      @OrchidNerd  4 роки тому

      It feels dry and squishy, what to make of that? I'll keep a good eye on it.

    • @YnseSchaap
      @YnseSchaap 4 роки тому +1

      @@OrchidNerd Squishy means there's still water inside and the orchid is busy getting it out but keep an eye on the outside of the bulb, as soon as that feels wet its time to take it off
