    As odd as it may sound, I like how Harrow tears up when he says "This is the face of a good man". It shows that he genuinely believes in what he preaches, almost like a proud teacher when a student gets something right.
    The more I think about Ammits cult, the more I kind of get why people would be attracted to it. Most religions say that you'll face judgement when you die, so there must be something extremely comforting to have a God affirm that you're a good person.

      @joshorton9061 2 роки тому +8

      @@steveaustin2686 well, I don't know. The way I interpreted the show, it seems like Khonshu was always in control. Arthur learned about Ammit when he was Khonshu's avatar, and Khonshu also just let him go for unknown reasons, as opposed to Marc where Khonshu seemed to have Marc trapped. Also, the bird bones in episode 5 indicate that Khonshu's been prepping Marc for a long, long time. I think Khonshu essentially pointed Arthur at Ammit as a decades-long gambit, knowing that Ammit could take down the other gods and that he and Jake could then take down Ammit and Arthur. He also pretended to be far weaker than he was: Ammit commented on his mummy-like appearance, saying that "time had not been kind" to him. But Khonshu was still able to grow to Ammit's size, and afterwards, in the end credit scene, he was wearing a suit. I think Khonshu was never actually weakened, and in fact may have been more powerful than Ammit all along but just held back most of his power from Marc until Jake came out. I'd bet he gets power from every sinner his Moon Knight kills, just like Ammit gets power from the souls she eats. Because at the end of the series, he has quite literally everything he wants: the other gods are without avatars, and he's presumably powerful enough to prevent them from getting new ones if he wants, or if he doesn't want to go that route he can probably swing a reversal of his exile, considering he "saved" the mortal world from Ammit. Sure, there was a risk he'd stay imprisoned in stone, but he knew how resourceful Marc, Steven and Layla were and he also knew that Arthur would eventually be going to the Pyramid of Giza to take on the gods, so at SOME point there'd be a perfect opportunity for them to free him. He maybe didn't expect Marc/Steven to die, but then again it's not like that changed anything, and he would have known that they could come back.
      Khonshu is a trickster god in mythology, and I mean, MAYBE he's just dumb but lucky in the show. Or maybe he's an absolute manipulative genius. Loki eat your heart out.

    • @steveaustin2686
      @steveaustin2686 2 роки тому +1

      @@joshorton9061 Eh, I disagree. Growing in size would be a function of his power, not his intelligence. And Jake was out the whole time and was really Khonshu's avatar, with Marc as the front man. Khonshu could be wise, without being smart. I don't think it was all some gambit, but Khonshu muddling through.

    Some facts about Moon Knight so far:
    For episode 1: Marc suffers from DID (dissociative identity disorder). However, his alter Steven thinks he's sleepwalking. That's why he chains himself to his bed, surrounds his bed with sand, tapes the door, and tries to find ways to stay awake.
    For episode 2: When Steven is wearing the suit, he's known as Mr. Knight. He looks like a Kingsman Deadpool. Manners maketh man.
    For episode 3: Director Mohamed Diab fought for Layla to be Egyptian. May Calamawy is from Bahrain but has Egyptian-Palestinian roots. People are gonna know her more thanks to Marvel Studios.
    While the story takes place in Egypt, they actually filmed the desert scenes in Jordan where Oscar previously worked on Star Wars and Dune. They also built sets in Budapest, where they previously filmed Black Widow.
    And lastly, Anton Mogart/Midnight Man was portrayed by French actor Gaspard Ulliel. Unfortunately, he passed away when he had an accident at a skiing resort in France back in January. Moon Knight was one of his final projects released posthumously. The third episode is dedicated to him.

    The thing with Marc and Steven being 2 people in one body is actually a real world mental condition, its called "disassociative identity disorder" and it is effectively a case where the brain starts running a second human mind in parallel with the original, generally as a coping mechanism.
    It used to be called "split personality syndrome" but that term has fallen out of favour due to being kinda inaccurate. The different identities aren't just "alternate personalities", they're generally entirely distinct and independent people who happen to share a brain.

    About your question about how can Stephen have a life of his own, well the short answer is he doesn't. People with dissociative personality disorder in most cases don't have personalities that can meet to an agreement, most of the time they don't even know that there are more of them. Since all of them want to have a life, and there is only one body, there is not enough for everyone and that only causes disaster in the body. A common symptom of the disorder is the lack of sleep because just because one of them goes to sleep doesn't mean that the others do too, so the brain never really sleeps.

    the whole scene at Anton’s place to include Marc’s outfit, Khonshu’s “tick tock” line, and the fact that he is standing on a clock that reads midnight, is a reference to Anton Mogart’s comic book counterpart. He is a MK villain named Midnight Man, who wears all black and is often drawn in comics with blue contrast. Hence Marc’s black shirt and blue jacket in the scene. Khonshu says “tick tock” and stands on top of clock that reads midnight because, Midnight Man. also because they are fighting against the clock to stop Harrow so, double entrende. Midnight Man is an art thief who would always strike at midnight but it took Moon Knight a while to catch up with him because he’d responding to crimes that were happening at like 11:55, so he’d always miss him. MCU Anton is an art/artifact collector so the groundwork is there for him to become his comic book character in full. as we all know, an ambiguous exit for a character means they could be back. especially in superhero/comic book movies and shows. unfortunately tho, Gaspard Ulliel, the actor portraying Anton, passed away before the show premiered. there was no change in the handling of his character, but a return from Anton seems less likely now that Gaspard is no longer with us. may he RIP.
    MCU Moon Knight will probably never face off against Midnight Man, but he has much more compelling villains that we could see if and when Moon Knight comes back.

    The answer about how they live in the same body is disassociative identity disorder, it's formed because of severe repetitive trauma at a young age, since the brain isn't fully developed yet. Instead of the "fragments" of the mind joining and forming one, it develops into different alters that help protect the body from the trauma. People with DID usually don't know they have it for a long time. The show isn't a perfect representation of the disorder, but that is the base concept

    Marc/Steven are part of a System, as defined by Dissociative Identity Disorder. It's a way for the brain to compartmentalize ongoing, traumatic events in a way that allows the whole to survive.
    There's a woman here on UA-cam (braiDIDbunch) that is part of a System and she has some reactions to Moon Knight from the perspective of someone with DID and how the media portrayals of it have usually been problematic, and how this current show gets some things right/wrong.

      @@ma.2089 She did mention for the finale that she initially thought the Tawaret possession as being painful was bad representation, but then later corrects and realizes it is a better thing because in that case it was fully possession and not attempting to be DID and even showed a difference between Marc/Steven, versus Tawaret.

    if you still don’t understand, marc has DID ( dissociative identity disorder), its caused by childhood trauma and the brain trying to cope with it by making different personalities that can manage certain things so you can live a happier life without having to deal with traumatic memories

  • @dylancole1910
    @dylancole1910 2 роки тому

    Marc is the current host of the body. He has something called DID, or Dissociative Identity Disorder. It is something that is developed in childhood around ages 7 and younger, due to repeated childhood trauma. This trauma is often so severe that a child’s mind puts up amnesia barriers and creates alternate identities to protect the body, the mind and the host from further trauma, to help handle difficult situations and to shoulder most or all of the memories of extremely traumatic events. Steven, was an identity that formed when he was a child, but he became the host of the body and Marc only surfaces when they need to fight enemies. A lot of his life ( his job, his apartment,etc) was most likely constructed for him to keep him out of his business with Konshu and keep his life and Steven’s life separate. DID, I also want to point out, is not a violent disorder. This disorder is at its core, a coping disorder that the child’s brain uses to protect itself from harm. If an alter ( I use ALTER as an official term for these identities because while “Personalities” was used by Harrow, it does not accurately represent the nature of DID. These identities are not personified personalities or personality traits, they are considered authentic individuals WITH personalities of their own) IS violent or prone to fights it’s because they are defending themselves or others and not for any true malicious intents.
    Him dissociating on that building in episode 3, when Steven says that he didn’t kill those men, that is indicating that Marc and Steven have a third alter that is a bit more violent than the two of them.
    I know this was a lot, but I saw no one shedding light on it, it’s a very complicated disorder but it’s useful to know the basics of how it works when trying to watch a show like this. I hope I didn’t make this too long. If any other questions raise that have anything to do with Marc/Stevens disorder I’ll be there for part 2 and answer as much as I can with as much as I know.

    Just a late note: the whole thing of Harrow putting glass in his shoes refers back to medieval times when people were so convinced of their sinful nature that they would embrace pain as punishment. Some were flagellants, whipping themselves bloody, others wore hairshirts. These looked like normal clothing but on the inside it was all stiff, cutting bristles against the skin, causing constant painful irritation. Harrow is walking on glass to punish himself for his sins.

    I think you don't know about the Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). It's a real life thing where a person develops 2 or more personalities in themselves to deal with their hard times. Basically when a child is born, a perfect personality is not there in the child and then the brain develops a personality or a person gradually. But, sometimes the brain end up developing more than one personalities which is nothing but having two different persons in the same body. That's what Marc is dealing with in the show.
