great video. One question, for the back panel removed for the hitch, should it be put back? If yes, then it needs to be trimmed right? Or simply does it matter if not put back?
Thank you for the feedback! It would take some pretty heavy trimming in order to get the panel to fit back on. Most people will just leave the panel off. www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitch/Draw-Tite/75950.html
You have to purchase them separately along with the control module part #4E0907383J. It's quite expensive for the oem stuff in which I highly recommend. It's somewhere along $350 for the harness, part #4L0971124F and nearly $400 the for the control module UNLESS you can find a used one like I did on eBay for far cheaper. You really don't want to butcher your wiring harness with some universal kit, especially on this particular vehicle for the electronics are already very finicky. The Hopkins 7 pin connector with 4 pin add on, part #97218dw will mount right up to the factory harness and will work fine with this hitch. Hope this helps you and anyone else out if you haven't already done it. P.S. Those part numbers were specified for the 2007-2009/'10 Tdi model, but should definitely work on all others. There are 2 other model control modules one ending with "E" and the other "G." I believe they may be specific for the supercharged and V8 models, but don't quote me on that.
If the hitch will be used for towing and isn't equipped with the factory tow package which includes the trailer connector, yes it will. Because not everyone uses a trailer hitch for towing (some use it as an attachment point for bike racks or cargo trays) we shoot our trailer wiring harness videos separately. To install a 4 pole trailer connector, you'll use a universal harness like # C59236. www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Wiring/Audi/Q7/2015/C59236.html?VehicleID=201542994

It also needs a module
