The Great Cycle is a concept that fascinates me so much. One world, the world we knew, is ending, but another bright future is beginning. Beyond all the tragedy of the Ancients and their random gods, life still lives on and it will continue to do so. The dust that settles on the land will slowly pile up until their structures are covered and consumed by the Void Sea. The winter wasteland in Saint’s campaign is not a depressing tragedy. It marks a new beginning. Creatures will live, creatures will thrive. That’s just how Mother Nature works. Maybe the scavengers will evolve to become the next complex civilization, like the Ancients. It’s all so wonderful!
such a cute song for the ruins of an ancient society in a post-apocalyptic ice age. i love how the campaign-specific osts always have an upbeat song or few despite the circumstances the characters are in
Most of the Saint OST sounds like mourning; every character you have come to know and feel attached to, the familiar reaches and rooms of the world, they are all gone or nearly so. Frost has covered them all. Not even their original music plays, all replaced by counterparts. There are mostly just two Saint songs that feel like they don't mourn for the lost world the player would have come to love in at least some way. The first is Breathing Hyometer, playing in the thriving Undergrowth that has only continued to expand and become denser and richer with life while the world above freezes over. Maybe it is from here that whatever world comes next will spring forth. Maybe the glowing mushrooms that had remained hidden for so many centuries will now be the light that comforts and guides them until the overworld is safe again. And then there's this one. Outskirts is where the game began. The first time you play Rain World, you start here. It always comes back to you, somehow, in the end. This song feels like finding the resolve inside yourself to see it off. To accept its departure. When you leave this place for the last time, you will know then that Rain World has departed (for now, at least). But the melody here asks you not to be sad about it. Keep pressing forward. You can always revisit these memories, and share them with others. Maybe we'll never know exactly what comes next for the setting of Rain World, and that's okay. The next world would never be able to capture the same feelings. Similar ones, maybe, but Rain World will always be its own place. I hope the team who made this game come to life with their art, music, and writing can continue to make experiences in games. There's very few fictional things that have made me as angry, curious, sad, and enchanted as this one. I think I get how the Echoes must feel, now.
i feel like breathing hyometer and this are meant to be hopeful songs that say that yes, the world is dying but theres still plenty of life left such as the scavengers that will take the ancients place
the old world is fading, but the life here will still be left behind to pave the path of a new age. this, my little friend, is the era of frosted festivals.
@@sovitsete6391 in my opinion saint is as easy as like rivulet honestly, the tongue is simply too op. miros birds? tongue. red lizards? tongue. red centipede? tongue. miros vulture? pray
Ah the memories, this is such an great song! Definetly one of my favorites, up there with the threat themes, reclaiming entropy and kayava. It feels so happy and relaxed, like the embodiment of the word chill, it's kind of funny how this super chill song plays in such a chill campaign lmao.
imagine if we one day get another dlc where we can explore the world wayyyy after saint's campaign no more ice, no more rain... just ruins of a distant past...
It plays in Outskirts in Saint's campain, instead of the track unseen lands (which is in one of the first rooms after the tutorial section of Monk and Survivor's campains

one of the few tracks that arent depressing or ominous in saint
The Saint campaign is overall depressing and ominous

ofc!! yeye :]! just sweet little loopable tunes that give you a pep in your step for the cycle
This makes me think of a scavenger tribal party, surrounded by harsh snow and the life giving lanterns.

The most cheerful sounding track in the ost. And yet, it fits perfectly
Location played at: Outskirts
Campaign: Saint
The world has changed, but is it bad?
Oh heck yeah, this is hella bad! Go see my 17 hours campaign of 90% death rate at Saint
Depends if you prefer getting your spine crushed by rain or dying of hypothermia.
@@sovitsete6391atleast it's not as bad as hunter
@@isaquedopao6667 Nah, boy! On Hunter I could at least extinct all fauna, in Saint I couldn't even trow a rock properly

Playing this in your bedroom with light rain just heavy enough to be able to hear the pitterpats of water 💧 is a whole different feeling
For me spearmaster was a goodbye to this world.
Saint is what comes after thr goodbye.
Scug now snow sneak, heck yea

tbh this sounds like the terraria snow theme
