I watched every minute of every game of both the Florida and Edmonton series. I still have Florida in 7. Florida is just the better team. Skinner vs. Bobrovsky... who are you realistically taking? Forsling and the Panthers D have also shut down every team's #1 goal scorer. Florida's D is smothering. A couple things Edmonton does have on their side though is their ridiculously good PK and the ability to carry pucks into their O zone with their speed... they don't rely on the chip and chase and that is where Florida shines brightest... puck battles along the boards. Digging pucks out is a HUGE strength of theirs. All in all though, Florida is the more COMPLETE team (and I can't stand the Panthers so it hurts to say that). Are the Panthers the modern day version of the Bullies of Broad Street? We have taken fighting out of the game - makes no sense given the popularity of UFC - but the Panthers have pretty much bullied their way to the finals. They kill you on 50/50 battles, terrorize your goalie by running in to him or the goalie's defensemen and just love mucking the puck both in the offense and defensive zones. Yeah, and they know when and how to score just like the Flyers of 74-76. McDavid is going to be harassed this entire series and boy is the Oilers D going to be busy and pressed.

Are the Panthers the modern day version of the Bullies of Broad Street? We have taken fighting out of the game - makes no sense given the popularity of UFC - but the Panthers have pretty much bullied their way to the finals. They kill you on 50/50 battles, terrorize your goalie by running in to him or the goalie's defensemen and just love mucking the puck both in the offense and defensive zones. Yeah, and they know when and how to score just like the Flyers of 74-76. McDavid is going to be harassed this entire series and boy is the Oilers D going to be busy and pressed.

MUCH respect for the Oilers. Very familiar with all of your players. Yes McD and Draisatl are big stars. Just understand they will have a tougher time against the Panthers. This won't be a walk in the park. Reinhard's D analytics are amazing, just as the FL D have great stats. So it isn't just Barkov. Expect the Oilers stars to look a bit more muted - a few less big moments. Just ask Panarin, Stamkos, Zajanabad, Pastranak. Yes we know about Hyman, Kane, Perry and your D. It's going to be a good series. You get our respect. But the Panthers see themselves as the underdogs: they've never won the cup. Oh yeah, your PP? Fact: Oilers PP 0 for 5 against the Cats earlier this year with TWO BIG STARS playing. Huh? Did that get by you? Yup. Every Oilers fan wants to put their head in the sand on that one. Cats PK has been near the top of the league all year, and don't expect them to take many penalties in the playoffs (3 total in the last 2 games against NY). Oilers in 4? Well, think again. Just let the teams play. We're going to see some great hockey. I can't predict this series, and neither can you. Hard to see a sweep by either team.

It's going to come down to goal tending, special teams and bounces. Cats have the advantage in net, Oilers have special teams advantage. It may come down to bounces... But Florida have no advantage in experience. Unless you count Bennet and Tkachuck's experience chasing blue shadows around when they played for Calgary?
