My uncle died suddenly at home in Illinois back in the early 80s, and we never found out what he died from, because apparently that state doesn't require one for death of natural cause, where there wasn't evidence of violence, homicide, etc. - my aunt did not want one. We surmise he died from either a stroke, aneurysm, or a heart attack, as he complained of flue like symptoms before he was found dead. So, just like Corey's death, his COD was "undetermined."
@Yesitsme In this particular situation, if I were the spouse, left with 4 young children, I would definitely have had an autopsy performed. Of course, I won't have been dating just a few months later, either.

@@giorgos.triantafyllidis. No cremation is usually a religious thing, or people have already arranged to be cremated. It has zero to do with hiding evidence. Evidence is taken in the form of tissue samples, pictures, toxicology test etc, so cremating someone would do nothing to hide evidence. There simply was no crime. More proof there was no crime, he filed a lawsuit, and the city gave him $4.5 million to drop his lawsuit, because they knew they messed up charging him with a crime that did not even happen. Yes that is correct, he filed a lawsuit against them for framing him, unlawful incarceration and withholding evidence of his innocence, and he won. They wanted no part of the lawsuit. They literally gave him $1.5 million for each year he was wrongfully in jail, which was their statement. They literally said they settled with him and the settlement was compensation for him being wrongfully incarcerated. Do you even understand how rare it is for anybody to win a lawsuit or settlement after being charged with a crime? It is super rare, which should tell anybody with common sense that the state realized they messed up. He files a lawsuit against the government, they pay him to drop the lawsuit, because they know he was innocent. It is that simple.

I don't understand women who keep marrying this guy. How does the date conversation goes? "You know, I am accused of murdering my first wife, but they can't prove anything..I married again six months later, but we're divorced now because she was abusive to my daughter...She basically kicked my daughter out of her own house, but don't worry, I no longer speak to my daughter..., anyhoo - will you marry me? YES!" 🤔
The jury found him “not guilty.” It’s VERY different from being “innocent.” The jury just didn’t believe “beyond a reasonable doubt” that he did it. Doesn’t mean they think he’s innocent.
He left their 4 yr old son with his dead wife. The way he handled the drop off to grandma "oh btw, your daughter is dead" and not sticking up for his daughter, who looks just like Cory, and probably reminds him of his dead wife, SCREAMS guilt. His lack of curiosity of what killed his young wife is enough too. He will pay for this one way or another!
That's why it isn't over yet. At the very least it's comforting to read the comments. The majority concede that he did it. Between the evidence and his demeanor/aura.

@@katylake212 not really. Seems like you'd call the police before leaving the house no matter what. Granny could have come and gotten the baby. I wouldn't want to waste a second calling for help......just in case there's anything that could be done.
Everyone reacts differently. Not saying he is innocent but at the same time we have no idea what tone of voice he said “your daughter is dead” In. I don’t at all believe he said “by the way “ I also have a difficult time believing the woman who was squealing in the stand. The high pitch she said those things in and just the wording seems off. The sad thing is he could be completely innocent or be a lying murderer. Only he really knows the truth and sometimes the truth is stranger than anything we could make up. The problem with taking the reactions of someone in the first hours to date after a loss is that nobody reacts in the same way. Sometimes people go into shock. Unable to even think about the loss they simply focus on things that need to be done in the days after. Often people like that will break down after the dust settles, after the funeral is done. After the family goes home and they are alone with their own thoughts. It is so very important to support ppl not just the first week then move on because they may not even attempt to cope until much later. That’s a side note but thought it important to remind others since we are touching on the topic of people seeming indifferent to a loss when for some of those people the loss is destructive they simply go in to a protective mode and as long as there’s something to do or take care of they can keep from losing it but the minute they have time to themselves and they are then forced to be alone with their thoughts and memories they finally begin to grieve. I cannot say if this guy is guilty or not. I’m simply reminding people that not everyone who is seeming not to react right away is cold or indifferent sometimes they simply cannot cope yet.
I feel so bad for Lyndsay. She was only twelve, her mom was only gone six months and the dad starts dating someone else. Your children should be your first priority. How insensitive and cruel.
I assume you haven't made many observations about men who lose spouses and date or marry fairly quickly afterwards. Anecdotally, it's been shown that men have a harder time accepting being alone and feel the need to fill that space quickly. Age isn't a factor either-many many elderly men who've lost wives marry what looks to others as so soon. I'm sure there's research that's been done. It's definitely a strange phenomenon.

But here in Egypt we don't get either shows aired, so I only started watching 48 Hours when they started posting full episodes on UA-cam, which is I think like a couple of months ago if I'm not mistaken, and it's so addictive and such a great show.
He didn’t want to pursue how his 38 yr old wife died, & he rushes to cremate her. The oldest (child) witness isn’t as easily tricked, so she’s cut loose. Now she replaces her mum as the family scapegoat. I pray that she stays away from him & his flying monkeys. She knows too much; she’s an open loop. Bravo Lindsay for standing your ground.
The pressure is off of her now that he's been found innocent. Due to the legal principle of "double jeopardy" he could stand on the courthouse steps and make a full confession and they could not retry him. It's over.
The part with the new wife saying not to have contact with "PEOPLE" against him spoke volumes. For heavens' sake, his daughter is not "PEOPLE." she is his flesh and blood she is his daughter 😪
Speaks volumes that he know she NEVER saw her mom that morning. He's brainwashed the boys and now has brainwashed the 3rd wifey..smh. Narcissists never change their modus operandi... And they HATE anyone who doesn't get influenced by their spell. He doesn't care that it's his blood...as long as that person stands for the truth he influences others to hate them. Classic!!
I'm grateful Lindsey was able to move in with her grandma. I'm glad she has been strong enough through the years of her abuse, to be here and be level headed I'm so sorry she was mistreated.😔
The third wife speaking for him when it comes to having a relationship with his daughter was weird. He allowed his second wife to mistreat her. I never heard him say he apologized or tried to do anything to make things right with her. I believe the daughter when she says she really doesn't remember seeing her mom that morning.
I think her father is a piece of sh*t. I think he killed her mother and has gotten away with it. He never felt bad. thats why he was with a woman 6 months later that treated his own daughter terrible and he didnt care. Now he’s on his 3rd? He’s crazy. I feel bad for Lyndsay. She sadly is the only one still speaking for her mother.
I agree with you. I remember this case from back in the day. I thought at the time he suggested to his children the memory of seeing their mother. I'm not surprised that the boys wanted to believe it because they were younger than their sister and because it seems the boys wanted to identify with Dad. The father-daughter relationship was already broken by him allowing his second wife to abuse the daughter. All of that said, I'd want to do a deep dive into any payment directed to the second wife for her ridiculous show on the witness stand; that ridiculous performance seemed designed to create sympathy for him and it appears to have worked, given he was acquitted. I was of the opinion years ago he killed his first wife and I am still of that opinion.
Nope, just describing the woman for dramatic effect because it's a true crime TV show...on TEE-VEE. I don't think the producers and writers were implying anything concerning "ugly" brunettes. But ya gotta get your panties bunched about sumpthin', don't ya?
Shame on him for allowing wife #2 to mistreat his daughter and even kick her out! How anyone can choose their significant other over their children (or any of their relatives for that matter) is beyond my comprehension.
This is what happens to my partner his mum threw him out after getting with a man on the sly she eventually moved him in and my bf out of his family home at the age of 17 so he left and hasn’t spoken to her since they are now married he’s happier and 22 now some things are for the best and people priorities are very different to what they should be
Out of all the 48 Hours, this guy seems the most calm and well-spoken. Yet, he just seems the most guilty. For me, his willingness to gloss over everything to do with her death and his eagerness to move on are suspect.
If you had had to live with an abusive alcoholic like her for years and years and only stayed for the sake of the children and because you take wedding vows serious and then she finally dies, wouldn't you be eager to move on and finally find love after years of a loveless marriage?

That second wife should never have been brought to testify.
A second jury found in his favor that the prosecution maliciously brought this case to trial and awarded him 4 million dollars so this isn't just a case of the DA's office doing a bad job of arguing their case.

You dont seem to understand alcoholics and codependents in the family that are forced to take care of the alcoholic for YEARS. His responses were very normal and within acceptable ranges for a man that has been taking care of an alcoholic that obviously did not care about him or her children. I am certain he and the children found her on many many occasions in a drunken stupor, passed out or hungover and having to care for her. What the mother did to her kids is terrible. Alcoholics cause so much damage emotionaly to their spouses and children. Her death on the one hand was a RELEIF becuase he and the children no longer had to take care of her. And on the other hand this was a mother and wife taht everyone loved and will miss terribly. This family was in a state of dysfunction and clearly needed major help, starting first with the mother, then with the father and then the children. Lot's of codependency, anger, emotional abuse, and anger and resentment and pain.
He closes his eyes the full time he says “I did not.” When responding to whether to had anything to do with his wife’s death. He probably wanted to hide his deceitful response and the eye movements that follow those types of responses. He’s sparing himself from deeper analysis.
I noticed that too. Also there was some escaping and avoiding in his answers. Does that make him guilty brd? In dubbio pro reo. He possibly beat the system. But idk.
Why the rush of cremating her so fast? " Btw your daughter is dead" My goodness how coldhearted can you be? It's obvious to me he didn't care about her.

Kids will believe most anything bc their brains cannot comprehend trauma like adults.
Let me tell you something, I was in her position. My ex-husband tried to smother me with a pillow while I was sleeping, and I woke up with him rolling off me and a pillow on my face. I pretended that it was a natural wakening and just went to the bathroom. My body was totally soaked. When you are unable to breath in oxygen the body sweats profusely, I was so wet it took me two hours to stop so I could properly dry off. They should have found the covers under her body wet even hours after she was dead. This is something I'm sure most people, even forensics don't know about unless they have experienced it. And yes, I was about to get him out of the house with friends help the next day and we excaped.
The mere fact that he allowed his new wife to mistreat his daughter spoke volumes but, I am not buying Gomez's testimony. The woman sounds scorned and psychotic. I agree with the jury. The detective withholding evidence was damning.
Did they forget that he was a lawyer who taught at the university? He not just anyone on the street. The fact that he didn’t call the police but took his good old time. Burned her body right away
This is the first case where I truly am stumped. There really isn’t enough evidence to say the Husband did it other than speculation. I find it odd that the detective wasn’t asked to look into the case. He said he was always curious about it and after seeing the photos asked his chief if he could look at it again. The rigor mortis doesn’t seem that unusual to me. I feel like a lot of facts were left out of the episode. The daughter was 12 at the time and I find it odd that she now claims to not remember if she saw her mom alive that morning. If she was younger, her explanation makes sense but at 12, it’s strange that she would say she saw her and later on say she heard stories that she saw her. I don’t remember everything from 12 but a significant day like that I would. But I’m not saying she’s flat out lying, it’s just odd. Him moving on so fast is definitely questionable but not a guilty verdict. I mean he moved on again to wife 3 really fast too. And lastly there’s no real motive. It’s a lose lose situation either way. Either her life was taken and he got away with it, or his is reputation and life is forever tarnished and he this dark cloud hanging even if he was found not guilty. It’s a loss no matter what.
This guy rushes to cremate his wife although the autopsy report says UNDETERMINED. Suspicious! Who would NOT want to know what happened to their spouse???

There was reasonable doubt and many people don’t understand that just because they think he did it, doesn’t mean it can be proven and unfortunately the prosecution didn’t prove he was guilty. Her body shouldn’t have been cremated, that would have answered a lot of questions.

Can we all take a moment to appreciate the fact that this killer left his 4-year old son at home to “discover” his mother’s corpse. His claim of “we decided I would take the older kids to school” is complete horsesh*t. He took the older kids to school so he would have less to deal with when the police were called and so he could claim he was out of the house when his wife died.
So what happened? Either the boys lied about seeing their Mom before leaving for school, or if they did see her then what? As the boys were getting in the car Dad smothers Mom to death? Unpopular opinion: he sure is a cold manipulative man, he might be awful to his daughter and stunningly stupid for re marrying right after her wife’s death, but I seriously think he didn’t do it. He might have wanted it, but he didn’t. She died because of the alcohol abuse, sadly, I know another close case like this so I know it’s possible and it can happen to everyone dealing with chronic substance abuse and poor health, she was bullimic, so her body was fragile and low in potassium, she could have had a heart failure. It is so sad what happened to this lady, but I still believe his horrible husband didn’t do it.

Beyond a reasonable doubt is something those jurors have to take extremely seriously. I've seen several cases where I might have swayed more in the direction of guilty, but realize that any and all evidence, along with testimony, has to be pretty strong. The tough thing is knowing you "might" let a guilty person go, but worse is, you could condemn an innocent man to jail forever. It's a profounly difficult task they are given.
Exactly! And many commenters seem to think all the evidence has been presented in these very short videos. How naive to believe that. These cases and trials take many years.
Well..the 3 sons need their Father, while the daughter has chosen to honor their Mother. I believe the evidence showed he did it. It was his calm demeanor and choice of legal counsel that were superior to the prosecutions. Perhaps murdering his wife sobered him up and made him a better Dad to his sons.
I think he did it. He is just lucky that the jury found him not guilty. I believe in Lyndsay the eldest child. She wasnt sure that she saw her mother alive that morning. The boys were younger and could have mistaken that morning as any other morning when they saw their mother. It is strange that Curt Lovelace didnt bother to reach out to Lyndsay. He seemed contented that Lyndsay is out of his live. Like almost a relief.

I’m not quite through with this one yet, but something about the husband’s claims about Cory being too sick with the flu to take her children to school that morning struck me as odd. Did the pathologist find evidence of viral antigens in her body? Do the children remember her being sick? However, now that the eldest daughter says she doesn’t remember if she saw her mom on Valentines Day, their collective memories of any illness would today be subject to scrutiny. I also wonder if it was the husband who requested that she be cremated. I absolutely understand that some families cannot afford a burial and some religions practice cremation. I don’t discredit cremation in any of those circumstances. I question whether cremation was chosen so as to get rid of a body that, while autopsied, could never be exhumed for further testing. I don’t think much evidence would be present on her body today if she had been buried, but if the husband feared the possibility of advancements in technology, could he have chosen cremation to keep her from being used by them? I’m certainly no expert (just an avid listener to true crime), and it’s quite possible that the flu virus was detected at autopsy/her whole family chose cremation. My questions may already have answers. I’m going off of the context presented in this episode. I believe the husband is guilty. I hope one day Cory receives true justice.
She was a an alcoholic, i agree with You that there is more, however i don't think he was guilty, Buy i think 40 minutes can't cover 7 days of trial and years of the proccess.
The presentation of evidence from the coroner lacked any indication of suffocation. There would be signs around the mouth. But as lovelace responds at one point, "we've been living with this for two years," well, he is a fighter who likes to win. So he is perpetuating the battle with his lawsuit, though i don't fault him, but it is indicative of his nature, to fight. What a horror story. RIP
Erica Gomez revealed the crazy quickly. She was supposed to be a prosecution witness, but they probably wanted to start objecting when she went full tilt 😂
I don’t think he did it! I think his second wife was a drama queen and was putting on an act to fit her own agenda. I think the daughter doesn’t know what to believe because she is still grieving. Hopefully, one day, she and her dad can reconcile what needs to be reconciled and can start fresh and new. Just my opinion!
Even during these 48hr interviews HE KEEPS pausing to recall his fabricated lies. He keeps closing his eyes briefly frequently to recollect his story. ZERO emotion in his voice. I don't smell a grieving man...
I feel so sorry for the daughter, love & prayers to her. Personally I can’t imagine jumping into 2 different marriages after just after your wife died. Am I wrong or was there a autopsy?
He clearly does not respect women. His truth will surface eventually and his punishment will come. And also all his sons who lied and supported him will also receive their judgment. He says he wants the truth to come out but he cremated his wife without an autopsy. He says he wants to reconcile but he does not know how that will come about and makes no effort to connect with his daughter. How does anyone believe any word from this guy.
She was a raging alcoholic. I grew up with one in the house. He might have appeared so cold because living with an alcoholic is so exhausting. I am quite sure that he was expecting this sooner or later and did not seemed concerned. It gets to the point when you live with an alcoholic or druggie you just do not respond to things like a normal person would. The selfishness of the alcoholic takes a toll on everyone.
I am so glad that Christine legally adopted the three boys as her own. She IS their Mom. Christine is 10x the mother that Cory ever was and doesn't abuse alcohol. Christine needed to have Cory's Name removed from the three boys birth certificates and have her name now on there as it should be. Their lives have been peaceful now.

No autopsy!?!?
A thirty-eight year old mother dies in her bed and NO AUTOPSY????
My uncle died suddenly at home in Illinois back in the early 80s, and we never found out what he died from, because apparently that state doesn't require one for death of natural cause, where there wasn't evidence of violence, homicide, etc. - my aunt did not want one. We surmise he died from either a stroke, aneurysm, or a heart attack, as he complained of flue like symptoms before he was found dead. So, just like Corey's death, his COD was "undetermined."
@Yesitsme
In this particular situation, if I were the spouse, left with 4 young children, I would definitely have had an autopsy performed.
Of course, I won't have been dating just a few months later, either.

Not legal in my state. You can't even transport the body in such odd circumstances.
@@debbielwilliamson8546 Oh, so agree, my mom and the family never understood why they did have an autopsy. As a matter of fact, we would have liked to have known what the issue was for family health history.
Any time a person dies under strange conditions and the spouse wants them cremated I’m concerned!
Same
And they always say “she always asked to be cremated after she die”

That was her story. I didn't think that was at all credible.

No body should be buried without autopsy. Too much room for a crime.
I agree I think they should have done an autopsy.
If I were the daughter, I wouldn't want anything to do with a father like that too! What really hurts is how her relationship with her brothers ended.
Her brothers were raised by their mom.
@Scarlet Gray but their mom died??

I try to be as respectful as I can but there is no way of knowing how your wife died. I feel you and I'm terribly sorry for your loss but don't take important things like this at face value and sit down and look at PCR tests. How they work and when they don't work. Also check out Kary Mullis and what he had to say about the test he invented and the ppl that misused his ingenious forensic method. It's not rocket science. All you need is discernment and healthy skepticism. It might even give you more grounds to accuse the hospital of neglect... but from a different angle.

Dude is a killer. Lastly, I could see him telling his young kids that mommy was on the stairs that morning.
Guilty AF
Religious people because an autopsy is a desecration of a corpse. I am not religious but I can't argue with that.

No remorse for loved ones. Mr. Loveless seems to be like a cold malicious killer until proven innocent
There was reasonable doubt and many people don’t understand that just because they think he did it, doesn’t mean it can be proven and unfortunately the prosecution didn’t prove he was guilty. Her body shouldn’t have been cremated, that would have answered a lot of questions.
Agreed I think any death determined unexplained or undetermined, should maybe not be cremated?
When you have 2 1/2 juries saying he didn't do it & that third jury saying that the DA's office not only shouldn't have filed charges that they maliciously did it and awarded him 4 million dollars I think it's beyond just saying reasonable doubt.

I agree 100%!
Exactly! And many commenters seem to think all the evidence has been presented in these very short videos. How naive to believe that. These cases and trials take many years.

Yes-my thoughts exactly in this case. There’s an excellent chance he’s guilty, but they just can’t prove it. Very difficult indeed
The second wife's testimony is hilarious AF. I couldn't stop laughing at how fake she looked.
I don't care for the husband but the ex girlfriend testifying is cringey
