I'm shocked they weren't ahead of the Canadians and Australians. My other comment is that it's so refreshing to have them with Zueva. I didn't know I missed her coaching and choreography until all her top teams retired or went to n Montreal. Don't get me wrong, i love the teams in Montreal but we need variety in the top teams and I think it's great to have Zueva back in the game
Me too! I LOVE how their presence like they are one of the top couples!! Looking at the protocols though, the judges did put them 3rd in Components, so there's hope! I'm not educated enough in ice-dancing TES... I'd love to know professionals' take, someone like Mark Henretty's take on it.
Maybe because of the long take off, small ice coverage, relatively easy landing and the 'shakiness' of the whole lift. But I think level1 is too low. I would give level2 or even level3 with very low GOE. But then again, lifts are always their weakness so I don't understand why they put it at the very end of the program.
I am not a technical specialist but, From what I can tell there were a number of possibilities why they got a lv1 RoLi. Difficult entry was not performed immediately into the rotational lift ( too much lag time in between picking her up and starting to rotate) But I think the main reason might have been that the lifting partner only performed 4 travelling rotations while she had changes of positions. (need atleast 5 for lv 2, 6 for lv3-4) He tried to collect a difficult exit feature on his 5th rotation by going on 1 foot, ( but it seems that he did not fully complete the 1 rotation before putting down his other foot.) it also seems as though he may have spun the 1 foot rotation and was on the spot ( my understanding of the roli is that it needs to be travelling like a twizzle forwards and backwards. another reason they may not have given him the 5th rotation.) So it could be a combination of a few of these mistakes, or are all of them. But if you do not complete enough rotations, it doesn't matter how many other features you successfully performed. www.isu.org/figure-skating/rules/id-handbooks-faq/related-communications-1/29349-isu-communication-2484-1/file

These guys re my favourote teams at the moment but the two teams you're referring to were very good here.

They connected with the audiences very well
Best performanse in my oppinion....
Should have been top 3!!
Как же они мне нравятся!!!Супер👍🏻👏👏👏
Nice to see Daisuke Takahashi transition into Ice dancing. With his knee injuries , he does not have to do dangerous jumps:) He can dance too.
Кана и Дайс - лучшие❗❗❗
Definitely underscored😔
Not with that lift, probably amongst the weakest in the rhythym dance.
I'm hoping they nail their FD and get a medal. Or get on the podium at NHK.
Best energy
👏👏👏
Deduction for extended lift but could someone explain why it was only awarded level 1?? The program itself is amazing!

I think a mistake may have restricted the levels the tech controller could allow

Great program overall but the lift needs a rethink.
Should have been in first
